Great workstation laptop. Video editing and gaming ready. I'm basically able to render in near realtime. The numberpad is a little weird, but I tend to not use it at all.
Power supply cable is a little on the short side.
But the build quality is superb, color accuracy is astounding out of the box, and for a 17" laptop, it's not crazy heavy.

I bought this laptop because I want a laptop to last me through college and this laptop covers everything I could want or need and then some. For mechanical engineers it has a quadro RTX 3000 which meets all the specs for anything you would want to do on solidworks and AutoCAD. It runs fast and it feels really solid. The battery is a bit small but it doesn't bother me. Yes it will run games as long as you tinker with the Nvidia settings. I can run apex legends on max settings at about 58-60 fps but the card is really more for solidworks since it has the certified drivers. All in all its a great laptop and I'm excited to see how it holds up.

USB port fail

This laptop has three USB ports -- one on the left, two on the right. When I tried to copy a 23GB mp4 video from the laptop to a USB flashdrive in the left port, I got a write speed of 30 MB/s. When I moved the same drive to either of the right-side ports, I got 300+ MB/s. This drive gets 300+ MB/s speed on my other computers.
I called ASUS support. They had me do a hard reset. Didn't help. Then they had me install the latest chipset drivers. No help. Then they told me to take it to Best Buy, a 50-mile drive.
The Geek Squad guy there said it was probably a defective USB port and that I should exchange. I said OK, let's do that.
Then they told me they are sold out and we can't do an exchange, all I can do is return it.
How does a new $2,000 laptop have a faulty USB port right out of the box.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
