The laptop is beautiful but that's as far as it goes. It claims to have an i5 processor with a 12GB ram and 1TB but it doesn't feel like it. I use it for my Rstudio and it is so freaking slow. When it goes to sleep without me closing the screen it wont turn on again until I use the power button to forcefully shut it down. It also freezes while am working and the most annoying part is that I only run RStudio when I'm programming, no other programs.Sometimes it turns off on its own while I'm working. If you are into any form of programming, don't buy this laptop. If you just need to type documents, watch movies on netflix or just surf the web then this laptop will be perfect for you. The battery life is also horrible. I have only had it for barely 2 weeks and I'm livid. Definitely returning it.

I was in need of an updated computer. I went into Best Buy expecting to spend a little less. But I am very happy with this purchase. Not only did being a student get me 150$ off, it works GREAT. I got the Geek Squad protection just in case, and I'm glad I did. I had a small issue with it, it started being REALLY slow even though I didn't have much on it. They fixed it within 3 days and now it runs like the first day I got it. Very sleek and stylish. Lightweight too, which is great for school. I love having the touch screen and the ability to flip the computer into tablet mode. Highly recommend this computer if you're looking for a new one, especially students!

First things first. If you have ever had an SSD hard drive that your OS boots from, you may think this laptop is slow. However it has a standard platter hard drive so actual load times are not comperable to an SSD (as is to be expected). Otherwise if you are not acquainted with SSDs, the only difference you may see is an decrease in load times. It should be mentioned that the hard drive performance is not sub-par but rather on par with the type of disk it is. SSD vs Traditional HDD aside, this laptop is unbelievable for the money. 1920 x 1080 resolution, ultrabook size and battery life, massive HDD space AND a touch screen with backlit keyboard. The 2 in 1 is an interesting but not overbearing tweak. The hinges allow the screen to fold all the way over. They're solid metal and will almost certainly hold up much better than traditional hinges. The touchpad is responsive and generous in size and the adition of the numberpad is great. Quick note: This is a workstation laptop, the graphics card is useful for everything BUT higher-end gaming. But lets be honest, laptops aren't the best for that, especially for the money. This laptop is perfect for office work, video/movie, light image-editing, programming and technical computing work. One last point, it is fully compatable with Linux (tested with Fedora 24 Workstation). Boots and loads flawlessly and everything works. If you wish to have a newer laptop, this is the ticket. If you want a newer laptop and ditch Windows 10. Look no further than this line of laptops.

This Laptop is great value for money and is an excellent Laptop for starting college. The Laptop is sturdily built and looks great. Screen Resolution is excellent and is one of those "convertible" laptops that can act like a tablet when you fold the screen all the way over. The screen is bright and clear and the touch function is very good. Processing speed is fast enough to handle any college related tasks and can still allow you to play some games readily. This is NOT, however, a gaming machine. The only let downs are that the Wireless connectivity is slightly underpowered so you have to be pretty close to any 5Ghz WiFi router to get the best performance. The 2.4GHz radio seems to work very well. In addition, the Hard Drive is voluminous at 1TB but also rather slow. I do wish that manufacturers would spend an extra $10 on a reasonably speedy hard drive in these types of machines. That being said the overall machine is great and is perfect for College or home use.

I love this computer, mostly because of how hard the choice was to make in today's market. The 12GB RAM handles most programs very well, the 1TB HDD is spacious enough for me. I do wish it was SSD but with everything else about this computer, I'm more than happy to have made that sacrifice. The keyboard is nice and wide, the aluminum body of the laptop feels nice and smooth. Does smudge a bit with oil and sweat but what doesn't? The touchpad click-sensitivity isn't as sensitive as I wish it was - I often have to push down to click rather than tap. But touchpad placement relative to keyboard is intuitive - you are less likely to hit your touchpad with your palms as you type away from ASDF JKL;. Screen is lovely and the touch sensitivity feels right. The gyro-sensor locking the keyboard and touchpad when computer is rotated left or right by 90 degrees is a little annoying since I like watching or reading while lying on my side. The edge of the bottom half of the clamshell starts to bother the right forearm after a while but negligible if you have a good ergonomic setup for your workstation. You do end up feeling a little twisted if you do a lot of typing because of the keypad-included keyboard, typing a little to the left of the center of the screen, but it won't bother you unless you're staring at it all day. The hinge feels pretty good still - it's been a month and a half? Two months? It's a little bulky and thick to use it as a full-on tablet, but it'll do in a pinch, or if you want to read and navigate with your fingers. The fan is near the back of the body and another heat grate(?) underneath the upper right bottom section. Fan's pretty quiet for the most part. It doesn't get very hot unless it's in contact with a poorly ventilated surface for a long time or runs something graphic intensive. Battery life is pretty good, I've been getting at least 5.5 hours on a full charge with the brightness setting at about half. I don't know how I feel about the sound though. It does have the Bang and Olufsen seal of approval and it does sound pretty good for such tiny speakers on the bottom near the front, but their placement means they can get muffled out if not on a hard sound-reflective surface. But higher volumes can make that work. No CD drive, no ethernet port and only 3 usb ports with no USB-C port... I guess for some people this computer might be too awkwardly perched between portability and functionality - not the best at either and kinda trying to shoot for both camps at the same time and failing. But for me, I love it. I don't need my computer to be super-powerful or super-fancy, but It can handle most things I want to do and look good while doing it. Some light gaming with Portal 2 or Skyrim (wait, is that light gaming?) has been great.

I have had this laptop for about 2 months now and I am loving it. There have been no freezing or crashing problems and it seems to run fast no matter how many tabs and various programs I have open. I have downloaded several large programs and it's still running smoothly. The shell is metal and has been very durable. It is very slim, but still pretty heavy because of the large screen. I don't mind how big it is, though, because I really needed the keypad. I have even gotten compliments on how it looks. I prefer a wireless mouse, but use the track pad/touch screen combo when my mouse is not nearby Adjusting settings and brightness of the screen and keyboard is very easy and the keyboard layout is logical. I love how easy to press the keys are - very comfortable when I have to type a lot. I also love that the ports are all on the sides and are easy to get to. I can adjust the volume at the top of the keyboard (with the function key) or on the sides and that makes it very easy and quick to change. Overall, I love this laptop and am impressed by the quality of ASUS.

ASUS, you've done it again. I've seen my share of PCs in my time. But ASUS and HP have taken the design to the next level. This ASUS laptop seems to be the perfect mix of classy exterior and powerful i5 processor with lots of storage and more RAM than any non-gamer or animation artist would ever need. The build quality is solid. The slim fan at the back is fairly quiet, and the hinges are firm but smooth in moving. The webcam is of above average quality, and the mic is average. Sound is slightly above average, but tinny when it gets too loud. Touch screen is thin, reducing the parallax when drawing/tapping on the screen while viewing at an angle, this is a huge improvement over some other similar products. The screen is also bright enough to be comfortable, but due to the glossy glass, you may find glare to be an issue if sitting directly in front of a window. The battery life is alright. Not the most you'll get out of a laptop, but you pay for the beautiful 1080p resolution screen and i5 processor. I tend to get between 4 and 5 hours when battery saver is on and screen brightness is medium-low. For the price, I'd say 90/100 Build quality 95/100 Looks 100/100 Overall experience 90/100

I got this because my old laptop is 6 years old and too slow. I picked this one up and have had only a few issues with it. Tablet mode doesn't always work great but I hardly use it like that. I was having trouble with very slow internet but I got that resolved. The wireless card is much newer than my router so I had to change some settings. I'm not using AC wireless because of it but the speed is perfect for me now. Other than that I've had no issues. I got a good deal on it and I also upgraded the HDD to a 250gb Samsung evo 850 SSD. it now boots up in about 5 seconds. The number pad is great to have and battery life isn't bad. The design is very nice and the touchscreen is responsive. The minor issues I have had were not bad enough to rate a 4 instead of a 5. I would give it a 4.5 if I could.

I went to Best Buy intending to purchase a Toshiba laptop because they usually offer great specs for an affordable price. I was shown this ASUS with a touchscreen, HD quality picture and lots of Ram and great processor for $699. I wasn't planning on spending that much, but am so pleased with the performance and speed of this laptop I think it is worth a little extra money and should last me quite a few years!

I have total faith this will last me as long if not long than my last one did of 7 years.

I was very impressed by the appearance of this laptop, beautiful slim design and quality finish. And when I got home and started to work with it I realized it is a power house. love the touch screen. I am very happy with the purchase. And the Best Buy sales and staff at the Van Nuys store(California) were extremely helpful and informative making sure I get the best model for my needs and avoiding me going back and forth and returning the item. Thanks.

I love the touchscreen, the speed, and how long the battery lasts. I wish it was smaller. It's pretty big. Almost as big as my former HP 17.3" screen. It's very thin though, so it makes up for it. So far, I love it!

It's touch screen, it can flip back, and it runs smoothly. I would definitely recommend this to any starting or continuing student in college. The new program (Microsoft Edge) includes a handy note taking app that allows you to screenshot a page, write on it, make tabs, etc. I've had no problems with it other than finding a suitable case.

I looked for months for a laptop. Read all sorts of reviews. Talked to people. Yrs ago I bought an Asus tablet and still love and use it. Knew the Asus brand was good. I finally decided on this laptop and have not been disappointed. It looks nice and sleek! Does everything I want it to do. Has lots of memory. Isn't that heavy, which is something I was looking for. Is the right size. Love that the keyboard is lit-up. Plus the price was great! Even got the extra savings for being a student. That just sweetened the deal!! Love the full size keyboard. Still getting used to using the touch pad vs a mouse. I have been making myself learn to use the touch pad. Battery life has been good for my needs. Honestly I have no complaints at all.

I got this laptop after returning an hp envy that was extremely slow and had several other problems must have been defective. This computer is decently fast and can run anything i need it to. the only time i had a problem was when the windows 10 anniversary update was installing... it froze and would not load to the home screen when restarted and suggested factory resetting it. finally after three days and a ton of patience i got through to windows update center and got the updates installed. runs flawlessly again.still love it
