I love this laptop. It is near perfect for me. One draw back for me is the headset ports. They are near the front right hand side of the computer. I am right handed and the headset cords are too near where I use the mouse. I think 90 degree cord adaptors will solve that problem for me. This is my second laptop. I did not know what I needed the first time around. This is really nice. I am jazzed!

This is a fantastic laptop for the price! The 17.3 inch screen has gorgeous color, the sound is top notch for a laptop, and the touch screen is a nice touch (pun intended) which I am actually finding I like more than I expected. For a gaming laptop, there are a few things to keep in mind though - this does not come with an SSD and with only 8 gigs of ram. However, I picked up an 500 gig SSD drive and another 8 GB SO-DIMM (from Best Buy too) and after those two upgrades (which was only about 180.00 due to sales) this PC flies. Boot up time with the SSD is about 2.5 seconds. I've been able to run every game I have with max settings beautifully. Breakdown: Pros: -fast intel i7 processor -onboard GeForce 965m graphics (2 GB dedicated) -very good audio, speakers play sounds clearly and volume can go higher than I expected with sound distortion, even at max volume -easily upgradeable (up to 32 GB ram (supports SO-DIMMs up to 1600MHz) and has two hard drive bays.) Upgrading was a snap too; they didn't make it difficult to reach the bay or two of the ram slots. -One drive supports M.2 PCI-E SSDs; both support SATA 3.0 drives, so if you want to run a RAID setup be aware of that! -Beautiful 1920x1080 touchscreen -1TB HD for plenty of space -Comfortable keyboard - large enough to not feel cramped. -large and responsive touchpad -gaming macro keys on keyboard (with software to configure them) -Built-in Steam key -built-in record video key that records while you play so you can watch and review strategies after playing -HD webcam (I haven't played with this much, though) -built in cooling fans for GPU and CPU - even running games at max settings the machine stays well cooled. -backlit keyboard nice for gaming in the dark -4 USB 3.0 ports, one of which is also a speed charger that will charge peripherals even when PC is off (if plugged in) -Full HDMI size port for attaching to another monitor or television -multi-media reader -Very slick looking, with a matte black case with silver accents and lit up keys/logo for that fun gamer touch. -surprisingly little "crapware" (preinstalled programs that bog down most store-bought PCs) Minor point but a nice bonus. -upgradeable to 32GB as it comes with 1 8GB SO-DIMM and has 3 open slots. -thunderbolt port (I have not used this yet, though) -vga-out -price for the power of the machine is excellent. Cons: -no SSD drive -HDD is one TB but is 5400 RPM so it's not the fastest drive. I have it as my storage drive now though, with my SSD as my boot drive, which has worked wonderfully -if you want to upgrade to the max 32 GB the machine comes with 1 8 GB stick and two slots easily available - the 3rd you have to disassemble more of the machine to reach (I've found 16 GB to be more than enough though) -no Blu-Ray drive - this comes with a DVD reader/writer only -no physical volume controls (keyboard volume controls) -analog mic/headset ports on right side near front, so if you are using a mouse (like most gamers will) this could be an issue. USB headsets are easily used on the USB ports on the left, though. Overall, the cons were heavily outweighed by the machine's Pros as just upgrading to 16 GB and adding the SSD made the machine match the specs of other laptops I looked at which were $2000.00 or higher. Gaming with the base configuration was extremely good once the games loaded (I didn't add the upgrades right away) but the 5400 rpm drive made booting and data retrieval slower than I'd prefer. I did the upgrades myself, but even if you paid Geeksquad to the upgrades for you this still comes in at under what similar machines with those already installed are costing price-wise by a long shot. And they aren't necessary - my games ran well at near-max graphics on the base configuration- but if you are a hard core gamer you might want to look at the upgrades I suggested. (Look for sales - I got the machine, ram, and SSD all on sale.) Overall, I highly recommend this machine for a gamer who is looking for a relatively high-end but affordable gaming laptop. Adding a bit more ram and an SSD makes it rival my desktop gaming PC for speed and capabilities; the base configuration is still extremely nice and well worth the price. Additional note- the laptop weighs in at about 13.8 lbs - this is heavy! But that is expected from a gaming laptop, however I highly reccomend getting a very sturdy and large backpack style case for it.
