Customers are saying
Customers love the ROG Gaming Desktop's powerful graphics card and its overall performance for gaming. However, many have expressed concerns regarding its cooling system and the included RAM, citing issues with heat and insufficient capacity. 1/5 as is 3/5 with upgrades
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR As is its borderline self destructive with a bad cpu cooler (hits 100c downloading games) and a psu 200w lower than it should be. Dont buy unless you want a project pc as overall the money saved over other prebuilts will be minor. Its basically a nongaming desktop with a 3070 in it, all components beside the gpu and cpu are barebones and designed to do light desktop usage. I ended up replacing ram, cooler, psu, mobo and case fans. - cpu hits 100c downloading games - mobo does not support ram XMP - psu is 150 under the 650w minimum for 3070 - ram uses high density chips (hurts preformance a considerable amount) - case requires breaking pieces off to fit a new psu in - any decent cpu cooler will probably prevent you from putting on the side panel - very loud - case blocks 1/3 of the gpu exhaust The good - gpu cpu and storage - case looks good - after all upgrades it is still a good preforming pc for the money - the 3070 i got responds very well to overclocking (hit 100 percentile for 3070s in userbenchmark) - can be picked up from bestbuy along with the other needed components and be up and running within the day Overall I didnt mind the upgrading because I got to enjoy the pc building experience again but I would not buy this again. Including the money saved flipping the parts replaced the pc ended up costing about $250 more. If you do buy get one used and get a new psu and cpu cooler at the bare minimum. If you dont plan on upgrading the mobo and ram expect ~25% less preformance than the average 3070 build

Posted .Dear TylerC,
We sincerely apologize for the overheating issue you've been experiencing with this PC. This is definitely not the norm and is not the kind of quality to expect from ASUS products. The overheating may be caused from lack of airflow so you can try removing the side panel to see if that helps with temperatures. Another option is to add more fans where applicable and the ultimate solution in this scenario would be to move the parts to a different case, one with more airflow. We do stand behind our product and we continuously strive to improve our products and processes in order to achieve customer service excellence. AVOID the 3070 ASUS ROG prebuilt at all costs!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Where do I begin? I'll start with a TLDR Subpar components that are unable to handle modern titles leading to high temperatures and likely damage. Now for the long form version: I bought this because it was in stock at my local store and from the specs in the title it looks pretty good. The CPU and GPU alone almost add up to the price I paid of 1650 in 2022 market. I opened it up when I got home home and was astonished at the poor components inside. The RAM was single channel 16 gb. This is absolutely unacceptable in modern times. This needs to be dual channel 2x8. I will give them credit for having XMP enabled out of the box though. The case feels cheap and the "glass" side panel is not glass at all. Its cheap polycarbonate plastic. It also just looks terrible in general. Now for the BIG ISSUE. It's using a 500w 80 plus gold power supply. For those unfamiliar this is the component that provides power to the whole PC. Gold is a good rating(one below the best possible) but 500W its far below the minimum needed for the internal components. The RTX 3070 it comes with needs a 650w psu and most prebuilts are using a 700-850w psu for 3070s. Next MAJOR issue. The Temperatures. Due to lack of airflow and only one exhaust fan in addition to the stock intel CPU fan, temperatures were extremely high. 50-60 celsius is considered safe temperatures for a CPU, I was getting 73 when the PC was idling on desktop. Sustaining this temperature alone will cause damage to the system. When put under load the CPU rose to a ridiculous 90 degrees before I had to turn it off before damaging it. This is absolutely unacceptable. Buying this PC will insure that you waste money, damage the internal components, and possibly short all of the components entirely due to an inadequate power supply. Total waste of money and I will be returning it as soon as best buy opens in the morning.
