After years of MacBooks and the poor quality of gaming I needed something that could get me back into quality gaming. Looked and looked and decided on the ROG over the MSI. Both are high quality but for the price and the fact that I was able to get the gforce 1070 that will last me. I love it and feel that this was a great purchase.

This laptop is amazing. It's super fast. The keyboard feels nice when typing. The screen looks amazing. Wish there was a bit less bezel but, it is still an amazing laptop. I get about 3 hours of run time with battery save mode and surfing the Web or other small tasks which is good for a computer like this.

Great laptop. Impressed from the beginning from how powerful yet quiet this machine is. Max'd out graphics on GTAV, feel the heat exhausting but fans are so quiet. The feel from the keyboard is amazing. Layout and quality of the speakers are amazing. Now the screen, even though it is a 1920x1080 oh man, just the feeling I got right from the initial set up screen. So pretty, love the fact its a ips. ASUS never fails for me.

It's a nice laptop over all. It does feel good in therms of design and building materials, but it's made out of plastic except from the back of the screen. But it doesn't look bad or cheap, and thanks to that it's pretty light compared to other laptops like this one. I love the power of that GTX 1070 ! Great for gaming and also creative work thanks to the nice display. the only thing I don't like at all is the trackpad, it's pretty average and the gestures won't always work. But you can buy a good mice or trackpad and problem solved. I think it's one of the best deals out there for a laptop with a GTX 1070.

Great laptop for the price. Asus gives you a 1 year accidental damage warranty at no extra cost. The equipped GTX 1070 will keep you going for the next couple of years with ease. Battery life has yet to hit the 5 hr advertised mark, but I am a gamer and never thought it would.

So Far Great

So far I like this laptop. I don't game a ton, but I do a lot of graphically intense computing with 3d rendering. It works great and doesn't seem to have any difficulties. I do have to get used to directing every install to the regular hard drive as the SSD will fill up too quickly if not. I think for the same price I could have built an awesome desktop, but I really needed something portable, so this fits the bill.

After a few months of use, this laptop has been great. No issues. I use it everyday for lots of things ranging from 3d modeling, gaming and regular day to day processes. It runs like a champ and does great with whatever I throw at it. My next challenge is to add external monitors and see how it does with some of the graphic heavy programs.

The best of both worlds powerful and affordable. Logged countless hours in the 2 and 1/2 years I’ve had this machine, and it hasn’t failed me yet. Added extra RAM to bump it up to 32 gigs and it eats anything you throw at it.

The laptop is nice and light, start up is quick. Graphics are great. My last gaming laptop was a Toshiba Qosmio, which was great but Toshiba has since discontinued that line, so after some research I selected the Asus and I haven't found one thing that I can complain about. I love this computer.

Good Performance, Lightweight, Reliable

Had used several different Gaming PC's since now, and this one is by far the best. Compared with other similar configurations from different vendors, it is really lightweight and portable. Performance is really good. I was able to play Mafia III, Starcraft, Dota, The Division, GTA V, The Crew, and similar games with Ultra High graphics settings, and experienced 0 lag, and almost around 60FPS with my non gaming screen. Another good thing is that it doesn't have too much bloatware. I gave 4 stars, just because of 2 reasons. Firstly because of the keyboard. The Num Lock key is hidden (you need to do FN + Home to trigger Num Lock), and it doesn't have the END key (it has the secondary END key on the 1 key in the keypad, but not convenient to use - especially if you are a software engineer and use it too much when coding). Secondly, the speakers are really very inefficient and low quality compared with other gaming laptops. I am using this laptop 95% of time with external keyboard, and speakers, so these aren't huge problems for me, but if you are planning to use it without external keyboard and speakers, you may not enjoy the laptop the best. Regardless of these, I definitely recommend this!

Excellent Laptop for pretty much anything

Let me first say that I'm a hardcore gamer. At first I purchased a MSI laptop with a 1060 graphics card and was quite disappointed in it's overall performance. When I saw that this laptop was available, I instantly went to Best Buy and exchanged the MSI laptop for this one.
It was well worth it! This laptop handles anything I can throw at it. All the games i've tested on this machine include: League of Legends, Overwatch, Final Fantasy XIV, XCOM 2, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Dishonored 2, Revelation Online.....all ran on Ultra settings in 1920x1080 at a full 60+ FPS! In 4k, the Laptop pumps these games through at 35+ frames which is definitely playable! As this is now my only Gaming PC, I have noticed that it does mildly hot in long term sessions (i.e. 8-10+ hours of gameplay), but the performance is rock solid. Anyone wanting a good gaming laptop will do great owning this laptop. I have no regrets on exchanging out my MSI laptop for this one.

Fails at build quality and longevity

Loved the weight and size of the computer, and loved the performance of the machine. Bought the 17" 702VS first, and it received an updated that broke the keyboard. Took it back and got this computer instead. Ran Great, but from day one, the right click occasionally didn't work. a restart fixed it...around day 40, the c key and the 123 on the numeric keypad began to work intermittently. restarts sometimes solved it, and sometimes not. Wiped the machine, and the problem didn't go away. Took it back and I am now going to try my luck with an MSI GT62VR. Hopefully this one is more reliable.
