The QHD screen is beautiful, the fan noise is fine

This is the review of the QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution screen model (GA401QM-211.ZG14B), there are more in-depth reviews under the nearly identical FHD 1920 x 1080 resolution screen model (GA401QM-211.ZG14).
I wanted something with a capable graphics card for 3D CAD design and a nice looking screen. The aforementioned FHD model may be better suited for gaming (lesser resolution means less strain on the graphics card during action, plus it has smoother 144Hz refresh rate) but the display model at Best Buy looked very washed out when compared to anything else in the price range. In contrary the QHD 120Hz screen in this particular model is really beautiful.
About the infamous fan noise: it is fine even in the highest turbo setting (available only when the charger is plugged in, on battery mode performance is the highest setting). Yes, it is audible but it’s silky smooth not the rattling type like a window air conditioner or a room fan.
Playing Fortnite in performance mode without battery saver at a vivid 80% screen brightness the battery lasts a bit over an hour and a half. Netflix with same settings runs for about eight hours on a full charge.
The panel gets quite toasty over the rear exhaust vents, I can not endure resting my fingers there for longer than a few seconds… It is more of an observation after reading all the negative press on this subject. The top keys remain perfectly fine temperature wise.
There is no built-in webcam and I’m okay with that. I’d rather use an external one with a physical shutter, wouldn’t risk closing one of those stick-on shutters between the screen and the keyboard.
I find not having an ethernet port a bit more pressing issue, downloading content over wifi takes forever. Like forever-forever. USB-C to ethernet dongles go for around $20, I wish Asus included one.
I was toying with the idea of getting a G15 or M16 instead for the larger screen and built-in ethernet port, however there appeared to be more reviews citing blown pixels and other quality issues compared to the G14.

Using this to replace my desktop gaming setup during the graphis card shortage so I can play new releases. So far this has run everything I’ve thrown at it with ease. Absoutely fantastic. Its crazy how powerful this laptop is while being so thin. Battery life has been fantastic and great to use for light task. Gaming plugged in gets you max power just expect it to get a little warm to the touch but nothing major. Would for sure buy again!

This is an insane laptop for the price! Runs everything I throw at it flawlessly. Really impressed by the battery life. Getting 10 hrs of Youtube 1440p playback. The screen is gorgeous. Just a tip for new buyers: Turn off Varibright in Radeon settings to get proper brightness on battery. Otherwise brightness will be lowered automatically. The SSD is plenty fast. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Excellent Alternative to High-End Desktop

I purchased this laptop as a portable alternative to my high-end desktop PC that would offer moderate performance on-the-go. After owning it for around two weeks, I can say it meets and exceeds all of my expectations. The price point at $1549.99 is at the very top end of what I would call fair, as there are other options that are more competitively priced. That said, this device does offer some unique characteristics that can be somewhat harder to find, especially if you manage to snag it on sale, as I did. A 1440p display in a 14" form factor with an RTX 3060 & Ryzen 9 CPU was exactly what I was looking for.
Some pros:
- 14" Form-Factor with 2560x1440 resolution
- Beautiful, vibrant display with excellent color accuracy
- RTX 3060 GPU / Ryzen 5900 CPU offer great performance
- 1TV PCI-E SSD (~3.5GBps R / 2.8GBps W) is blazing fast
- Useful hardware control panel software
- Built-in speakers w/ Dolby Atmos capability are surprisingly usable and quite loud
- Fit and finish are good an aesthetically pleasing
- Great design implementation in using the screen tilt to lift the bottom of the laptop slightly to allow less air intake restriction
- Fan noise is adequately managed with the control panel software. Silent for browsing the web with inbuilt speakers, performance or turbo for gaming with headphones on.
Some cons:
- No webcam
- Thermals are hot, albeit acceptable for a laptop; with a small and portable form factor, this is an expected given, but worth mentioning (GPU load ~80-85C, CPU load ~89-94C)
- Keyboard backlight is a bit dim and is a stagnant color.
These are what I've noted in the two weeks I've owned and used the laptop, quite extensively. 5/5 stars, I'm very satisfied.

I can run any modern game at max setting at 1080p, 120 refresh rate will make you become a more skilled gamer lol. Laptop does tend to get hot but i mean its a small gaming laptop for $1200 (I bought mine on sale). I also bought the 2022 model & the differnce is very minamal just like the iPhone 13 pro to iPhone 14 pro

Very good price to performance. Runs pretty much any new game at 60fps on High settings. Some less graphically intense games can also teach 120+fps taking advantage of the full refresh rate.
Pros:
- High $$$ to Performance
- Looks good (subjective)
- Keyboard has good travel distance
- 100% sRGB
- Lots of Storage
- Upgradable RAM, SSD, & Wifi
- Battery last all-day
Cons:
- No Webcam
- All USB-A ports are on the right
- Keyboard backlight isn't consistent
- Can only upgrade 1 stick of RAM, not allowing dual-channel
- Fan can be load under load
- performance reduced when unplugged, also doesn't have a MUX switch (can bypass through left-hand usb-c)

Fantastic laptop!
Slim, quiet, and long lasting battery when you want it, and a very capable gaming machine when plugged in!
With the advent of upscaling technology (DLSS), even the 3060 laptop is a very capable GPU on a 1440p screen like this one. Highly recommend!

Best laptop for the money

I’ve had this laptop for a few months now. It’s been great not only for gaming, where i can run almost every game at medium to high settings, but also for creatives. It’s powerful enough to run premier Pro smoothly, can seemlessly run Photoshop and Lightroom at the same time as well. I usually like having music playing while I edit, and this laptop can still run premier pro smoothly even with youtube running in the background. I have it set up with two 27” inch monitors and its working perfectly fine. Great laptop for the price!

+ good performance for the price;
+ great size, feel and look. Not thick! ;
+ rtx 3600;
- power cable in the middle of the left side;
- no webcam;
- 1 y warranty;
- CPU gets super hot with boost (~95-100C). The only way to lower the temp is to disable boost
- 16GB of RAM

For the money, this will do anything a regular desktop will do... and then some. I bought this for our designer to use 3d modeling software for 3d renders. The graphics card is decent and you could certainly game on this. Great 1TB SSD storage. It's a small laptop and very portable.
I would highly recommend if you're needing it for a replacement to a desktop with a graphics card... especially if it is on sale.
I bought a similar one for my personal use and I've gamed with it, but mostly use Blender on it.

Great Laptop

This Laptop is great for everything. It's a very capable laptop that runs new games beautifully. NVIDIA DLSS helps boost performance for extra frames on some games that support it. Armoury crate and My ASUS has a lot of options to use the laptop how you want to. Battery life on Eco mode will last a very long time up to 8-10 hours depending on use.
The only Issue I had with this Laptop was an outdated MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card driver. I was experiencing high ping spikes playing games. Ping would go from 40-70 ping to 300 + causing horrible rubber band and disconnects. I found the driver on an ASUS ROG thread. The updated driver fixed all my issues affecting ping.
If you do a lot of online meetings with video this laptop does not have a camera. There is a feature to connect your phone and use it as a camera. I have not used this feature so I cannot say how well it works.

Sleek, durable design without being too "gamery", and has enough power to handle anything from playing modern games at high graphical settings to large project files in blender and Photoshop, all on the go. Only thing is that the keyboard feels unsatisfying to type on and the backlight on it somehow makes the lettering less visible, and the keys on mine started to become less responsive after little while, but not the biggest issue

Overall, this is a great laptop. It's very portable, and plays games at great framerates, even at 4k. The battery life is OK... if you're not gaming on it, expect to get about 3 hours if you turn down the screen brightness. If you try gaming on battery, don't expect high FPS. it WORKS, but you will definitely notice a BIG difference in FPS. The only real drawback that I would mention (and the reason for kicking off a star) is this laptop gets HOT gaming. The casing is metal, and i believe the entire thing serves as a heatsink. The upper side to the left and right of the keyboard (and the keyboard keys themselves to a lesser degree) are very warm. If you rest your hands on the top sides, you won't like it. I'd recommend an underneath laptop cooler, especially if it sits in your lap. But even with it being warm, i didn't see any throttling in gaming, which is a huge plus. Overall it's a LOT more PC at $1249 than you'd be getting buying an Alienware or an Omen. Similarly specced, they run $1700+. So overall if you like mobile gaming, I'd recommend this laptop.

Decent Laptop overall but they need a firmware update to fix things so the display settings dont have to be reset constantly. A couple other minor issues but nothing major there. There was a couple of issues with certain video file types not being recognized but that issues seems to be fixed
The biggest problem is the occasional electrical popping sound and the screen goes off for an instant but comes back on. This problem worries me. Its not very often but still... It cant be good and I worry it will short out on the board. I'm no expert but if I had to guess the motherboard is getting hot at the hdmi port when in 4k external settings. turning the settings down fixes the issue but it should be happening to begin with
Overall its a very nice laptop and I highly recommend.
Personally though I'm thinking about returning this for a G15. a 3070 may be able to handle 4k better I watch a lot of video media in 4k so prefer to have something that`s going to handle it better.

Good PC Laptop overall. The first unit i had had a wifi issue. Internet connection kept dropping in the middle of using (seems to be a wifi card problem). I went exchanging for the 2nd one, this one heated up very fast and the fan was so loud to a point that I could not bear it. Ended up returning this product. Other than those, the laptop ran decently for games and the speakers were excellent! Bad keyboard backlighting as it made it harder to read the keys.

Everything about this laptop is really good for what I wanted except that it runs hot. I’m going to school and wanted something small and light that would still be good for gaming on the go. it does great and runs games flawlessly most of the time with the gpu not even at half use. Another amazing feature is the app that has its own button on the keyboard that instantly pulls up temps and profiles for games gpu settings and more. The only problem I would say it has is it gets pretty hot no matter the game even if you have a cooling pad it still runs 88c-93c. This is my first gaming laptop so maybe that’s normal but parts of the laptop are dangerous to touch because of the heat.
