I am impressed with the power and speed of the Intel 13th Gen Core i7 with 16GB Memory-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card that produces extremely tight pixilation on the highest of settings, I have the power to play some of the fastest games on the market, because of the benefit of having 165HZ.The Full HD display gives a nice amount of brightness and produces high quality graphics of my gaming experience, without any noticeable lagging. Of course, as a gaming laptop, the ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 16" 165Hz Gaming Laptop FHD-Intel 13th Gen Core i7 with 16GB Memory-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070-512GB SSD - Eclipse Gray, will generate a good amount of heat. The installed fans are a bit too noisy, but needed for the heat generation. I must purchase a secondary fan to cool the laptop down better. The battery life is good depending on how much load the system is using, anywhere from.6 to 8 hours. There are plenty of inputs to connect external devices. The speakers deliver excellent sound delivering all ranges of gaming octaves. The ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 16" 165Hz Gaming Laptop FHD-Intel 13th Gen Core i7 with 16GB Memory-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070-512GB SSD - Eclipse Gray allows me to play all my games with ease and sometimes perform basic computer tasks as needed.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16: fantastic gaming machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL;DR: if you want a great gaming experience, you're gonna find it here and you will be very satisfied with its power and responsiveness. This ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 16" is packed with power, functionality, and fun. There are literally only two things about the G16 that I did not like, so I'm going to start with those: 1. I realize that unboxing, setup, and updating time is required on almost any gaming machine worth its salt, but it takes so darn long to get everything set up and ready on these things (at least an hour with decent WiFi) just to get to the desktop... and from there whatever games you want to load up. So realistically, unboxing to playable: around 3 hours. This shouldn't be the case, but it's really something that Windows + manufacturers need to figure out. This is not unique to ASUS but it's hardly a good experience when you're amped to get to play. 2. ASUS ROG in particular have a sword-slice audio file that plays when the computer boots. You can turn it off, but not without getting into your BIOS. It's obnoxious and they should stop. Cool. So, with the obnoxious things out of the way, let's talk about all the wonderful things the G16 has going for it: 1. The form factor is amazing. For a 16" FHD laptop, the screen doesn't have an annoying angle, bezel, thickness, thinness, or anything else to it. I think it may be my favorite gaming laptop screen - the heft is JUST RIGHT and the positioning feels sturdy, with zero wasted space for bezel/angling/styling. The laptop itself has nice heft and everything is proportional so it doesn't feel like it will tip or topple or get unsteady or like the screen won't stay where you want it. The wrist rests are perfectly placed and the keyboard (in addition to being fully RGB and customizable) is very responsive with keys that are fun to press. 2. The laptop's weight is not crazy. And while like most gaming laptops the power cable is circular (not USB-C), and the power brick is probably larger than I would have liked, in this case the power cable is sufficiently long and unobtrusive, wraps nicely, and the brick itself is smaller than many comparable competitive offers. What this translates to is portability, so if you want your gaming laptop with you, you don't need an extra suitcase just to plug it in. 3. The ports are perfectly placed (for right-handed people). There's every port of every type you can imagine along the left side of the laptop (including power, USB-C, thunderbolt, HDMI, USB-A, and networking cable) along with a single right-hand-side USB-A port and microsd card reader. The power connects on the left-hand side meaning you can store the laptop on the opposite side. 4. You can toggle modes to save battery life and decrease performance (and when doing so, the impact was MINIMAL even with BG3 on max settings). What WAS impacted was heat; the fans immediately cut down to a lower level as the more powerful components were temporarily shuttered. The performance while plugged in was excellent with minimal load times for my most common games after the first session or two. I was able to jump from one game to another quite quickly - everything was quite snappy. In-game, with settings maxed on BG3 and Deep Rock Galactic, the experience was phenomenal. ASUS ROG also offers a suite of tools to help customize your gaming experience; most of the time these tools tend to be stylistic customizations. Not so, here, with the ability to fine-tune performance elements even from the keyboard's function row. 5. The fans themselves are reasonably quiet by comparison to other gaming machines. 6. The built-in audio was actually good; even with fans going I could still hear what was going on (better with headphones of course, but they're not REQUIRED here). 7. The touchpad was responsive and didn't have annoying quirks, shimmies, or half-click states. It FEELS like a substantial piece of hardware as opposed to a "you'll never use this so why should we put money into it"-type addition. 8. The keys. There's this thing that some gaming laptops do to help you find the WSAD keys by incorporating annoying physical grooves or bumps or other aspects. There's none of that annoying nonsense here. The keys are bright and responsive and substantive, making it a joy to play on, they do not feel cheap or easy to wear down. 9. The screen. I've already talked about the physicality of the screen, but the quality of the screen itself had minimal glare and was easy to play on for hours on end with minimal eye strain. 10. The laptop itself is gorgeous; the exterior has beautiful patterning, substantive finishing, and the heat grids on the back are nicely designed - it LOOKS like a serious laptop vs a plasticized toy. The lid closes firmly with padding to ensure there's no wiggle or jiggle. It's easy to find handholds to lift it and move it around comfortably without it feeling unbalanced or like it's going to fly out of your hands. Whether you're a serious gamer on the go or a hobbiest, or just need the power of a gaming laptop to do more serious graphic design, video or photo editing, or programming - the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 16" gaming laptop is a delight.

Great Laptop, Upgrade Needed for Maximum Enjoyment
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 packs quite a punch for what it comes with out of the box. It's a great option for the casual gamer, and a solid option for the more dedicated gamer with some upgrades I'll detail below. Laptop design is sleek & modern, the aluminum chassis that I've come to really like with the Asus brand. It's relatively lightweight for a gaming laptop at a little over 4lbs. Easy to pack and take on trips. The graphics are amazing, exactly what you'd expect from Nvidia. Audio is clear & crisp, no static or dropping out. I've been able to enjoy Youtube videos and Netflix with no graphics or audio issues. It also works nicely for casual photo editing. I've found my gaming experience to be overall a good experience, but with some caveats. Primarily the ssd that comes with the laptop, 512gb just isn't enough for those of us who like to play a variety of games. You can run out of space quickly, or some games require a large amount of storage available to install even if they later don't use that storage to run the game. Some of my favorite games, such as Baldur's Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy, & Sims 4 are resource hogs so I needed to upgrade for an optimal gaming experience. Luckily, the G16 is easily upgradeable. The first thing I did was to add a secondary 2gb ssd to the handy slot. No more concerns about running out of space. The 16gb RAM it comes with is integrated onto the motherboard, but it does have a slot to add more RAM. 16gb RAM does handle many games quite well, but I like the improved performance with 32gb. After adding those upgrades, I've had no issues with the performance of any of my games. They're all running on a mix of High/Ultra per the recommendations of the Nvidia GeForce Experience software. Fan noise can be a bit of a problem sometimes, especially when playing Baldur's Gate 3. I have the laptop set up on a cooling tray with its own fans, but the laptop fan will also come on and get really loud. I've been using headphones since it can get difficult to hear the game over the fan noise. I've had no trouble with the laptop getting too warm though, it can get a little warm near the vents but not hot to the touch. Overall I think the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a solid laptop, and even better once the upgrades are completed.

It just means updates are being installed and applied in the System Registry. This issue typically goes away after all updates(WIndows, drivers, Armoury Crate application) are installed completely. Worthy Purchase!

I know this has nothing to do with the actual Laptop performance but wanted to share how the packing was. When you open the box and raise the lid, the box is designed to raise the laptop up for easy lifting. Thought that was pretty cool. Design: The laptop has all ports on the sides with none on the rear including the power. I always prefer the power port to be in the back to keep wires more out of the way (I generally always leave laptop plugged into power) but it's not a real issue though, just a preference I have. It only has 512GB of storage so that may be where you may wat to add to it. Overall picture when gaming is very nice. I did run some benchmarks and will also include the results with attached pictures. The fans kick in pretty much right away when gaming but the noise is not too load. I've had some in the past where it sounded like a freight train. Not here though. I would recommend, as I always do, to use a cooling stand for any gaming laptop just to add to the cooling. Running games on max settings were not an issue so far (Elden Ring, Red Dead R2 and ANNO 1800 were a couple so far that ran great) I'm sure there are more taxing games out there but for what I play, it's been very smooth. Overall, I am very happy and will continue to put the game through the paces. Some testing results: 1080p Medium: FPS: Min: 96.04, Average: 154.29, Max 225.11 GPU Temp: C Min 39, Max 72 1080p Extreme: FPS: Min: 29.39, Average: 52.98. Max: 66.15 GPU Temp: C Min 41 , Max 74
