Great Gaming Laptop

Screen looks crisp and smooth with 1080p resolution and 144hz refresh rate. You are pigeon holed into windows 11 as stock but honestly it's not bad. Backlit keyboard is nice and customizeable with the asus included apps. Sound quality is nice. Temps are not overly impressive but well within range. 40c idle and running Lost Ark at max settings puts me around 85c well below the 100c limit. Asus apps allow you to set custom fan curves and you can even put it into an eco mode and disable the included 3070 gpu. Weight is one of the lightest gaming laptops I've ever owned (looking at you alienware 17r4). Ports available are ethernet, hdmi out 2 usb-c (1 thunderbolt) and 2 usb-a. My only real recommended improvements is I'd like to see a higher resolution screen at this day and age. Everyone is about 4k screens and 120hz, 1080p screen feels a bit dated. Processor feels snappy being a new i7 and 16gb ram feels solid. You also get a 500gb nvme ssd which will fill up fast with today's games so I would plan on grabbing an external drive to store your games on. Conclusion-Solid laptop and happy with it overall.

Bad Screen from the factory

HOWEVER, its got some bad screen bleed around the whole monitor. I see I'm not the only one with this issue so clearly this isn't random and is an issue with this model from Asus. I wouldn't recommend this laptop unless you can exchange it.

Now I'm likely to have to return it due to temps up to 95 degrees c. Bought a targus cooling matt + and it helps a lot but still spikes to 90 c after extended use. Also having trouble with the laptop missing the 3070 gpu in device manager. Everything is updated including the bios. Sometimes the gpu just doesnt show up and it tries to run games off of the cpu. I hope Asus will get me taken care of. I have not reached out to them or returned to best buy as of yet.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the laptop.
We do understand your concern about thermal issues. It is normal for the laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications, processes and services, are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.
Also, the fan noise will be louder while antivirus software or malware are running continuously in the background. Please make sure the system was not compromised by viruses or malware by doing a full system scan using an internet security software or application.

Defective HDMI on what should be a good laptop

Tried different device - same cord/monitor ... no problem. Tried USB-C with laptop and same cord/monitor .. no problem. ASUS needs to step up its QC. Disappointed, as this took 3 weeks to arrive.

Surprisingly thin and powerful gaming laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been impressed with this laptop so far. As usual, ASUS has another solidly-built laptop. The case material is metal and has some heft, while the laptop overall is surprisingly thin and light. The screen is sharp at 1080p, and the 144hz refresh rate is perfect for gaming on the go. The 12th gen Intel processor, 3070 gpu, and DDR5 ram has chewed through everything I've thrown at it so far. Warzone on medium/high settings sits almost locked at my 140fps framerate limit. I haven't had a chance to try any video editing on this machine yet, but I'm sure it will run DaVinci Resolve fine. Also, the built in wifi6 chip seems to work perfectly. I've had laptops in the past with wifi issues, but with this new TUF Dash model, I am getting consistent 700-800mbps speed tests over wifi. I also tested file transfer speeds and was copying game files from my main gaming pc at ~120MB/s over my wifi network.
