Your options are limited if you want to stick with DDR4. They're even more limited if you're trying to get a motherboard in retail, instead of ordering online. I tried an MSI board first, and while it was fine, I'm happy I decided to switch to this Asus TUF board. Everything works fine. Posted on the first try. No XMP issues. BIOS update was easy and painless. And it looks great in person. When comparing it to the MSI Z690 Tomahawk, while I still think the MSI got a nicer looking board, the one from ASUS just performs better. It boots much quicker (about 12 seconds vs 30 or so with MSI), The Wi-Fi is much stronger and faster, IMO it offers slightly easier to use BIOS and desktop software, and the sound chip appears to be better too, it's louder and everything sounds about the same, and with MSI I had some random low-pitched noises coming out of the speakers during boot, and it's not happening with ASUS. Overall, they perform the same, but it just feels like ASUS used a higher quality parts here. There are only 2 minor complaints with this board: 1. After installing Windows 11 I found myself in a weird situation where Windows wouldn't let me progress in the initial set up without connecting to the internet, yet the onboard Wi-Fi was not available until I got into windows (or probably until the PC got the drivers from the Windows Update). The only option I had was to use an Ethernet port, and it was fine since I do have a network switch right next to my computer, but what if I didn't? Can't even install the driver from USB without getting through Windows Set Up first. IDK, just feels like it might be a pain for some people. 2, The M.1_1 port if too close to the rear VRM heat sink. It's basically sandwiched between the hot VRM heat sink and a hot video card, which in combination with higher heat from the Gen 4 SSD, made it run really, really hot (the SSD that is). My 980 Pro was idling at over 50C, and under load could get up to 68-69C, which is too hot for my comfort. I just moved the SSD to one of the lower M.2 ports, under the GPU, and it's fine now, idling around 35C and up to around 44-45C under load. Yes, the top M.2 port has its PCIe lanes going directly to the CPU, vs the bottom ones connected to the Chipset, but so far, I haven't noticed any difference in performance. Final thoughts. I really like this board. Used it for about 10 days and haven't had a single issue. I like the look, although the ROG series probably has a more refined look, this one is also a better looking one from our DDR4 options. The packaging is also nice, good manual, and even some cool stickers. It's very easy to build with, and you get all the advanced features of Z690 for a reasonable price.

    Upgrade for older setup

Purchased this board as a replacement for an older setup in a smaller case with poor airflow. But I needed something that would be sufficient for my old RTX 2080 and this MBO fit that bill. The previous board lacked slots and was only able to have a GPU and perhaps a sound card. But this board has all of that and more plus 4 M.2 SSD slots if I needed to get fancy. Just needed 2, but it's nice to know you can trick the board out if you wanted to. I primarily use this PC for data processing and some light gaming, but it powers my 34-inch widescreen monitor fine and performs fast and that is all that matters for me.

Great motherboard with solid features. Have had no issues. Posted a picture but you can’t see the mobo because of the noctua cpu cooler and 7900 xtx

Pretty solid mobo for the price. Rocking the i7-12700k, 32gb of DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM and a Corsair H150i Capellix cooler. Disclaimer: On boot up, my PC runs fine. After going to sleep, when I attempt to take it up it wont display anything on screen and the PC restarts itself over and over. From what Ive read, it could be faulty RAM, a fauly mobo or a bad PSU... So, Im working on that. If I find out its a faulty mobo, I wouldnt blame the whole line of Z690s, itd probably just be a one off issue.

DDR5 isn't ready for mass adoption. This board is great for using your old DDR4 sticks. It also has plenty of USB and M.2 drives. I haven't had any stability issues with my G.skill DDR4.

Pretty decent board and was really easy to build with overall. One of the few Z690 boards with DDR4 and not a lot of RGB. Thought about going with one of the ASUS DDR5 boards but that pixelated RGB layout is not aesthetically pleasing to me.

This thing is fast, full of all kinds of features and was a breeze to get going. So appreciative that even tho the first one I bought was a dud I got a replacement in store and no issues with the second. 9/10 solid experience. Should buy, I pair with the 12gen I7

Excellent motherboard decided to go with this one as it was the only DDR4 board they had in stock in store for pickup, But it was a great choice, paired it with a 12900k, 32GB 3200MHz, and a RTX 3090

I used this board for my very first PC build. I think it's great and has a lot of cool features, like WiFi and even RGB lighting that I can customize with Corsair's iCUE program. My only drawback was the placement of the DDR4/RAM slots. Perhaps it's the issue of my particular case, but I could not fit my AIO radiator and fans at the top of the case because of RAM slots. Instead I mounted the rad onto the front of my case and the fans at the top to exfil heat. Not a bad solution, but wasn't ideal for my intended setup. Also a bit on the pricey side.
