It's regrettable to hear you've encountered issues with the internet speed very slow. This must be frustrating, usually the speed is mostly controlled by the ISP.
For Example: If your ISP provides you a speed of 100Mps and our router (specification) indicates that the speed can go up to 500Mps. It will only cap at 100Mbps because of your ISP. If you upgrade your ISP package to 500Mps then you will be able to achieve the full capability of the router. If that is not the case, please ensure to keep your router firmware up to date and also the LAN driver on your computer.
If you wish to troubleshoot further, please use the Asus Router App, go to "Settings" > "System Settings" > "Feedback" > and send a Feedback mail to us. We’ll do our best to provide a quick resolution to your case. Your feedback is important as it helps with improvements to ASUS Support channels. Please copy a link to this post as a reference.

It has improved WiFi coverage in the home and foe that it’s appreciated. Still have some areas of the house that don’t get good coverage.

I usually trust Asus products, and, in fact, have two Asus laptops that I really love. I am not sure if this was an isolated case or this model is unreliable. It wouldn't stay connected to my modem.
