Good pairing with my Technics SL-1210GR
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This stylus comes highly recommended by many owners of the Technics SL-1210GR. Technics turntables are known for their engaging bass and I wanted to pair it with an audiophile grade stylus that would capture the finer details in the highs to balance out the sound. I feel like I have accomplished my goal. The lows are punchy and powerful, but detailed. The highs have nuance and sparkle to them that I wasn't getting before. It made me want to go through my entire vinyl collection to hear the difference. The VM740ML is very well reviewed and considered a great value and among the best moving magnet cartridges you can get. It's very similar to the VM540ML, but has an aluminum housing that reduces resonance and looks more high end. It comes with a nice kit of wires and screws for attaching to various headshells. I had no issues mounting it on the stock detachable headshell for my Technics, but the screws are mounted from the bottom of the cartridge which could cause problems if your headhsell is not detachable from the tonearm. Use your own precision screwdriver, the inlcuded screwdriver is too big. Also the instructions were lacking, but luckily installation is pretty straightforward.
