Enables your iPad (with lightning to USB adapter and compatible software, ie: Evermusic, Onkyo HF Player, maybe others) to play back hi-rez files (iPad native is 48K max), or can plug in to any USB port on your computer or laptop. Even makes regular .wav, flac, mp3's etc sound better. Highly recommended!

This thing ia fantastic. The audio quality is INSANE I truly am mind blown that there are two more expensive “better” options. If you want good quality audio, get this. Best purchase i have made in a while.

It's seems at first that $200 dollars is outrageous for a USB stick that is a dac headphone amp. Then you plug it into your phone or computer and oh it's why it costs $200. Clean clear and perfect at full volume. Worth every penny in my humble opinion.

I purchased this dac to use with a set of Sony 1AM2 headphones. I am very pleased with the better audio this provides from my laptop and smart phone. Audioquest makes some really good sounding equipment and this is no exception.

We were told about the Dragonfly by a sales associate in Best Buy. It totally improves the sound quality for downloaded music. If you love music like we do, this is a must have for headphones or plug in speakers to your cell phone. Great invention. Thank you Aaron!!!

Every good review about this product is true. I am running 3 sets of high end computer speakers in my home office with a triple splitter connected to my Dell desktop computer. There was always a buzzing sound in my speakers. Once I installed the Dragonfly the sound was crystal clear and noticeably brighter and louder without any distortion. I then signed up for the HiFi Tidal internet music program and Roon internet music equipment program. All 3 work seamlessly together with floor vibrating bass and ear drum vibrating highs if you want it loud. This is also great for crystal clear clean music if you just want to sit back and enjoy the music. If you enjoy listening to anything from Yanni to Drake, this is a definite worthwhile investment. Once you have and listen to the Dragonfly Red, everything else is just ordinary.

We have no problem dropping thousands on a high end TV, but we ignore audio. This fixes this, it sounds great! An improvement on streaming audio on ear buds and night in day in high resolution audio on audiophile headphones.

The DAC is ok it provides a bit of louder sound vs your standard iphone DAC. I do prefer the Red a lot better vs the black.

I've had the original v1.2 model for years and the Red is a definite step up in sound quality. Immediately noticeable through my Etymotic ER4 Earphones.. warmer, smoother, overall more musical sound that was well worth the modest price!

I was curious if this was as good as the reviews I have read. Short answer, yes. If you are serious about audio quality (HD streaming etc.), I would say that it is worth the investment. I will likely get the Jitterbug as well.

I was skeptical about a device so small being able to deliver with a home system. This little guy opened up the spectrum on first listen. Big difference with digital files not sounding so compressed. Would definitely recommend!

I have the red dragon fly dac and it’s definitely a little noticeable in sound quality but not enough to lower my rating of the dac.

I bought this to use with my iPod Touch and Moto X 4. Using Apple Music and Qobuz on the iPod, or USB Audio Player Pro on the X 4, this unit works and sounds great.

Excellent product. Music comes alive throught headphones. You’ll ne able to hear music more naturally sounding and detailed!

I have 2 Dragonfly Reds and use them with computer to preamp in a high end system and also with my laptop and I Phone with headphones. The difference is staggering. I am serious stero fanatic!

Super high quality build and outputs amazing sound quality. Use in conjunction with iPhone using camera connector accessory. Works great for MQA output to hi-res headphones.

Highly recommended to the purpose of high resolution listening. I don't consider myself audiophile. I am one who enjoys good sound.

I am a Best Buy employee and I've been wanting a Dragonfly for a while now but never pulled the trigger due to lack of support for mobile devices. I never really listen to music from my laptop; it's always from my phone using headphones or in my car. Audioquest revised this device for customers like myself. First off, I've had this for about an hour now and it took me a bit to start noticing the benefits. I'm currently using this on an S7 Edge with some V-Moda M-100s. There have been a few issues getting my phone to recognize the USB device. I'm running Spotify Premium and the first several times I plugged in the Dragonfly the music was super digitized and there were no highs. It was all bass and sounded like 16 bit music. I researched the Audioquest site and there will eventually be a firmware update client for the dragonfly, but currently the website says "coming soon." So that was no help.Through some more research on Head-Fi this is apparently an issue with Android Marshmallow. It works fine on Lollipop and iOS devices, but until Marshmallow gets an update, the USB audio support is finicky. The dragonfly does work on my phone but sometimes I have to unplug and re-plug it several times, or have a song already playing when I plug it in to get it to work. Incidentally, it has worked 100% of the time on my laptop. As for sound quality, as I started to say, I did notice a difference right away, but I didn't notice how vast it was until I switched back and forth from the DF to the headphone jack several times. Each time I used the phone's built in DAC I felt it sounded more and more flat and closed off. The soundstaging with the dragonfly is vastly better in comparison. It wasn't mind blowing, but just so much more preferable than what the Samsung built DAC was putting out. Like I stated I use Spotify Premium which gives me access to 320kbps mp3s, and I don't have any lossless music to test. I may migrate to Tidal which is a lossless music streaming app. I've had it previously and LOVED the audio quality but was not satisfied with the performance of the app itself. I can't wait to try my dragonfly in the car, even though the quality difference won't be as noticeable. The best way to use this device is with headphones or through a good home theater amp and great speakers, playing some lossless music like FLAC (no mp3s). So far I am extremely happy with my purchase and I haven't even put it through it's paces yet. Any music fanatic, or even just a casual listener should love this product. There is also a new Dragonfly Red that uses a more advance DAC with higher power output and a more controlled 1 step = 1 decibel volume control
