The video quality is fantastic. I have a Samsung 40" 3D setup and the movie was just beautiful to watch. Not quite the same as IMAX but very close (size of screen being the only difference that I could see). The 3D is, to my eyes, exactly as good as the IMAX on-screen version. I am a huge fan of the movie but believe me I would tell you if the video quality was not great. I would not hesitate to do the purchase again (even considering the huge rip-off in price at this time) but advise others to consider if you really have to have it right now or can wait awhile. Great movie, almost unbelievable video transfer quality, and a price that is just not right!

The colors on this really amaze me still, a scene on the beggining when the giant truck drives by as he is coming off the spaceship after entering Pandora for the first time, you can see arrows sticking in the giant Earth mover's tires. The arrows take on an almost transluicent, 3d effect. Since this movie was filmed all digitally, it looks AMAZING on a 4K HDR setup. It is even better than some 4K discs I own!!! The sound is also amazing on any 7.1 or atmos setup. A perfect mix of technology, and just enough on screen action...brought to you in a nice looking neat package, with plenty of non filler like extras! A must buy for the price!

James Cameron's Avatar is now available in Blu-ray 3-D, but it's a mixed bag, so to speak. The film's about a paralyzed Marine named Jake (Sam Worthington) who, after his brother's death, is assigned to take his place in the Marine's Avatar program, in order to go "undercover" to infiltrate and observe the Na'vi race, in order to help prepare the Marines to get a much needed metal. But as time goes on, Jake finds out that the Na'vi are not what the Marines make them out to be, which sets up the life and death battle which encompasses the final third of the film. The Pros of this release is that this is a 3-D and 2-D Blu-ray dual format disc which means you can watch the film on any Blu-ray player (3-D on a 3-D player, 2-D on a regular Blu-ray player). The film is fantastic looking in 3-D. Also, thought has been put in the placing of the subtitles for the film so that the subtitles never interfere with the 3-D visuals. The set also includes a DVD of the 2-D version. The Cons of the set is that it is a movie only version, so no bonus materials are to be found. Avatar is one of those films that deserve to be seen in 3-D, as none of James Cameron's 3-D projects have failed to entertain me. If you are planning on getting a 3-D setup in your home or if you are wanting to get 3-D material to show off your 3-D system, Avatar gets a recommendation from me.

I rcvd the amp and set it up with my AR-1, which includes a 500 watt 15" sub, and an AR-3, which includes a 300 watt 12" sub, along with a Polk center speaker. I have some old surround speakers which I will replace in the future. However, I am very pleased with the capabilities of this amp considering the low price. I have better amps, but they are 2 to 3 times the price. I won't get into details, but you can tweak the performance to your surroundings and your sound preference. As with all set-ups nowadays, it takes some knowledge and time. The days of simple hi-fidelity and 2 channel stereo are gone.

Avatar is an amazing achievement in movie making. There are excellent effects and a great story. I already have the extended edition. I always wanted the Extended version in blu ray after I purchased a blu ray dvd player with a LED tv with a fast refresh time. I was waiting for the price to come down. So why get blu ray? As my vision changes, having movies in blu ray really makes a difference! The sound is so much better as well. Sorry to say, as we age our sight and hearing declines. So having blu ray dvds isn't just about the features; it's just easier to watch and hear...which just makes the whole experience more enjoyable.

Avatar one of the greatest all time sci-fi movies thank you the special effects are great I can watch this movie at least 6 times a month the colors are fantastic the storyline is pretty good too I really enjoyed this movie especially on a big screen and a big old giant screen this movie is fantastic Thank you so much for making this movie and I got it on sale which was even better thank you Best Buy for my sale price

This movie has great imagination and scenery. It had the unexpected and was interesting to watch.

Avatar as a film has never been heralded for its story, but its visuals. And this blu-ray release is the perfect way to see the film in all of its visual glory. The special effects still hold up better than movies that are made nowadays, and the extended cut adds some much needed backstory that actually helps the plot and gives the viewer more of a reason to sympathize with the main character. If anything, this is a great way to show off what a blu-ray can really deliver in terms of clear visuals and sound. Overall it takes what was always a pretty movie and adds a bit more depth to it.

I enjoyed this movie! The visuals just jump out of the TV, just wish that it was available in 4k.

This is well worth the adding to ones video collection even if you already own a copy of Avatar , the added footage and incredible quality and definition make an already great movie far better . I loved the Detail they brought to the theatrical version giving the movie a new and deeper appreciation of Pandora and the beauty of its environment along with a clearer understanding of the journey and its purpose. The added details puts you closer to the story line and adds further depth on every level. I am so happy I purchased the great edition!

I've been waiting to purchase this movie on Blu-ray. Saw it on sale and decided to pick it up.

One of the great sci-fi movie. Good story and load of action and special effect.

I loved this movie in the theaters and couldn't wait to get it home. I often watch this one on my ipad because when I fly, I want to have something engaging to help the time go faster, and you can't stream a movie when in flight. This one always delivers, and the quality is such that it looks great on the big TV at home as well as on my ipad, and I've even watched it on my phone. This was the first movie I tried getting as both a DVD and a digital download, and it was such a success that as a result, I now look for the same capability with other movies that I buy.

"Avatar" was the very first of the new type 3D movies I saw in theaters. I was so impressed with the 3D picture and quality, that I always dreamed of owning a 3D HDTV so I could experience that at home and this Blu-ray does not disappoint in that area. The 3D effect is deep, sharp and exactly as I remember it from it's theatrical showing. And it was the very first 3D Blu-ray I bought for my new Samsung 3D HDTV. The story is engrossing and the 3D is a true spectacle!

The movie is great! I bought this version to see what the editors did everything!

Waited a good minute for this film to come as standalone 3D bluray, as the only 3d version available was through purchase of one of the "new" panasonic 3d tv bundles,bluray itself came bundled with the tv and blurayplayer and glasses...after a hefty $400 rebate. Great sound mixing and visuals, looks great in 3d, on a huge tv or projector screen.

Avatar was released in 2009!! This Blue Ray Directors Extended Edition LOOKS AWESOME!!!! Used and Xbox One X as my player and watched it on a Sony XBR LED 4K TV... STUNNING!!!! I know probably 98% of what I was seeing was CG, but it looked Absolutely Gorgeous !! Even though this is not a 4K HDR release the colors were just as awesome to view as the movie itself. The sound too was incredible! If you spent good money on your set up this title will not disappoint... HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!

The absolute first choice for our home theater system! Instead of the 3D looking like it's coming out of the screen at you, it creates the illusion of depth making you feel like you could walk right into the world of Pandora. It is absolutely beautiful! The older 3D movies at the theater used to give me a headache. The technology has changed a bit, the viewing experience is much easier on the eyes. Whenever anyone comes over to check out our 3D home theater, this is the movie we always put in. It never ceases to amaze us! Buy it!

This is the best set for any Avatar fan! Not only does it have all three versions of the movie, but it also has a lot of special features. As for the extended cut, it is incredible! The added footage adds so much detail and background that was missing from the original version. I could not wait to purchase it when it first came out, so I bought the bare bone version. Then i sold it when I saw this was coming out. So glad I did because this is the version to have. Whether you are a die hard Avatar fan or just a casual fan, this is the set to buy!

The movie is really good! Shouldn't have waited this long to see it.
