I never saw The Last Airbender when it aired and every ANime fan told me I should watch it. It is just ok. I know it is a kids show, but man it is super kiddie in parts and just feels cheesy. Also, the Blu Ray is not full screen which is annoying.

This show is amazing. Flat-out awesome. As the characters grow and develop during the run of the plot, it makes for one of the best children's shows of the 2000's (considered a dark age in the genre of American cartoons)

We made a mistake in buying this because we do not have any children in our household and thought we were buying the regular Avatar movie series.

I've been looking for this series in stock for a while, so I was happy to find in stock at the store. This outside packaging to the case was slightly torn, but I still decided to buy it.

I was really hoping for a full remaster from source for this show. The show itself is definitely 25 stars, but the bluray release was just a money-grab by Nickelodeon. These really offer little-to-no quality upgrade over the DVDs. They pretty much just stretched the video up to 1080p and did a basic smoothing algorithm. I find it incredibly hard to believe that their original studio source files are only SD. The only benefit you gain in this version is the few episodes that had pixelation around character outlines are now smoothed out a little. I recommend the series 1000%, just not this pointless "blu-ray" release.

Excellent Show & Best Quality Out

I am going to break my review down based on possible customer circumstances. For people with the DVD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This version has three discs per season (9 total) instead of the usual 16 total discs from the DVD set. So you don't have to change out discs as often. The picture quality is better. There are comparison shots of the DVD/Stream/Blu-Ray out there on the Internet. The audio is better, at least according to some audiophiles out there (I am not). Downside is that it is still 4:3 aspect ratio. Which means there is still black bars on the side. It isn't possible to get the show in widescreen without re-drawing/re-animating the entire show. So in this regard, if you don't mind changing out more discs and aren't picky about picture quality, then you can stick with the DVDs. Customers without the DVDs but have access to streams: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Same as DVD's except the changing of disc issue. Also, if your Internet goes down or the stream service stops showing the show, you would be out of luck. So in my opinion, its a must buy still. Customers without the DVDs and streams: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What are you waiting for? Get it!

Extreme upgrade from old DVD set - worth buying

So, despite what a lot of other people are saying on here, this new Blu-Ray set is a massive step up from the original DVD release of Avatar the Last Airbender. Frankly I don't think many of the bad reviewers really understand the differences between this set and the old one. The DVD version was compressed, leaving the images grainy, fuzzy, and bad looking, and the audio quality was terrible. Oftentimes it sounded like the voice actors were talking through a fan, and it didn't even match up with the visuals on screen. Many fans were disappointed with the quality of the original release and have been waiting for an upgrade, and this is it. It's finally here! This Blu-Ray release looks amazing in comparison, like it did when it was originally aired on TV, albeit a bit sharper in image quality. Given the original quality that the show was produced in, this is as "HD" as it can get, and it looks great. They fixed all of the original release issues and this is how the show was meant to look. To sum this up: The full DVD set would be a waste of your time because it's so absolutely flawed. Definitely spend the money on this Blu-Ray set, it's worth every penny of it.

I loved watching this show while I was growing up. I was what was considered a Disney kid, but nickelodeon held my attention with this one. The characters were kick-butt and hilarious! Same goes for the characters in Legend of Korra.

A Major Upgrade from the DVDs

I’m thrilled with this set. Having just watched the DVDs multiple times over the past few years, I don’t see how anyone could see this as anything less than a major upgrade. The double-line blurring throughout Book 1 is fixed, and the audio is clearer by far than it has ever been. I feel anyone reviewing this upgrade negatively must be comparing the quality with something modern, like Korra. From someone who has both streamed the show and viewed it on multiple DVD sets: this is simply the best it has ever looked (or probably will look considering it was animated in the pre-HD, pre-widescreen standard days. And there aren’t any original film negatives to go back to for shows like this.) This is it. And I, for one, am SO greatful they made this upgrade, preserving the show in the best possible light. I’ll be gifting this series to loved the ones for as long as they sell it- and THIS is without a doubt the best version available.

The Best This Show Has Ever Looked

This is a really stellar release! I'm so happy to finally own this show in HD too - while it is an upscale (it wasn't produced in HD) it looks wonderful and reproduces everything as intended. No, the show isn't in widescreen, but again it wasn't produced that way. All of the bonus features from the original DVDs are included (though the Avatar Spirits doc from a few years ago isn't) also. I have to disagree with the negative reviews on here. The show look enormously better than it did on DVD. Only look at the season one DVDs to see what I mean: The Blu-ray is a big improvement. I can't wait to rewatch the whole show!

I've never seen Avatar The Last Airbender until this release. I do like it more than Korra which I have as well. I can kind of see why some people were hoping for more picture quality wise but it's still pretty good.
