I really enjoyed this movie...It flew under the radar and wasn't really known for whatever reason.. only reason I got interested was I saw a preview on another flick I watched. This movie will hold you...it's not so much about the beast than it it is about the survival of the couple...I won't spill the beans but I can tell you all does not end well. I cared about the individuals in the movie as it did some character building in the early goings...you get the sense that things aren't as they should be and when they get lost...you know Hell is getting ready to break loose..couple of small twists and should'a , could'a...going on. Only $9.99 at Best Buy...what have you got to lose ? I recommend this for the horror/drama fanatics...well written, great flow...no boring parts at all...go get it !

This movie was better than I had expected! It starts off really well and ends strongly. Kind of a sad ending. But a good storyline for sure. Worth checking out if you’re into outdoor, animals attack kind of movies.

I've been waiting for this to come out on disc after renting it VoD months ago. The bear doesn't come into it until the second half, but it's a very well made indie film, more thriller than horror. However the bear mauling scene is horrific, it'll make you think twice about going camping in the woods. Highly recommended for fans of the genre.

I enjoyed both the performances and the plot of Backcountry. I had not heard of the film, but saw a high rating on rottentomatoes, which made me seek out the film. BB's price made it worthy of a purchase vs a rental. I'm glad I did buy a copy, it's a nice gem that I've shared with several friends.

Another hit from the IFC MIDNIGHT label. If GRIZZLY and CLAWS were remade for today's thrill seekers, BACKCOUNTRY is that remake. If you wanted THE REVENANT to be only about the bear attack, BACKCOUNTRY is that bear attack movie. Looks terrific in Blu-ray.

This movie is pretty good. Not a lot of stuff going on but getting lost in the woods can be all the horror you need. Also crossing paths with a big bear pretty horrifying too. Pretty sure I will never go camping again after watching this.

This begins like any of a number of backwoods country yokel horror entries like "Wolf Creek", and then becomes something more menacing. Would make a great (if depressing) double feature with "Open Water".

Likable characters keep this somewhat slow story from becoming boring. You really feel for this poor couple as the get more and more lost and get closer and closer to becoming bear dinner. I liked it.

When you introduce city slickers into the wilderness and then throw a bear into the mix only good things can happen. This was a really fun man vs nature horror flick. Recommended

Excellent and exciting movie, and some of the scariest bear sequences every. The bear is almost unbearable in his stalking. He's like a stalking tiger, but he's actually a bear.

A slow build up, the bear does not show up until half way. Picture and sound quality were good. The bear scenes were tense. Some may find the attack difficult to sit through.

I was SOLD by the cast for this one. It was good for the most part but don't go into expecting a certain thing/concept or might end up disappointed.

This film depicts a couple hiking into the wilderness who really shouldn't have. Mistakes are made from the start that resulted in tragedy.

And it didn't even need all those name actors. Proof that tough and gritty can make a better movie in this case.
