These bring back a lot of memories. I haven’t seen these in a long, long, time. I remember watching the series every week. Just love how the show was done. I’m so glad I got this. They hold up and look really good on Blu-ray. Overall, a excellent package.

The original Battlestar Galactica series in full screen and widescreen format in blu-ray. The Definitive collection also has the movie that started it all, what more could you ask for? It has seasons 1-3 so you will have hours of entertainment with family and friends. Looks better than the DVD version I bought years ago. I would highly recommend this collection to all Sci-fi fans. For the fans that bought the Definitive and the Re-mastered collection, disc three of the widescreen version of Battlestar Galactica series, there is missing footage during the episode, THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS. To get a free replacement disc three, go up to digital bits website to get the information on the replacement program.

Loved the TV series growing up. Big fan of it. Bringing the whole series in one package. Recommendable.

It is hard to pick which side of the argument I want to be on for this box set. First, it is great to see the series put to blue ray and given both the High def treatment AND remastered in widescreen, but at the same time, I wish they would have spent the money and time to really enhance the special effects and truly bring this show to life -- so, for what it is: the original series and Galactica 1980 with an additional uncut version of the movie, this is a great set and kudos to them.... worth buying if you do not already own them. If you do, the smaller version that does not include both standard and remastered versions is probably enough for most.... In the end, this set will really be a benefit to my research for an upcoming book and comic series based on the original series!!

Forget the recent remake series that could never seem to figure out how it was going to go. If you want a great BSG experience, then this is the box set to get. This box set has the original movie, the complete series, and the Galatica 1980 follow-on (which while not as good as the original still had some great moments). Solid space and ground action, great stories, great characters richly acted out and a wonderful family dynamic in the form of the Adama family - Adama, Apollo, Athena, Boxey and informally adopted member Starbuck. AL in updated 1080P widescreen resolution.

Im so happy to finally have this. For Battlestar Galactica fans, this is the set to get because it caters to those who want the original aspect ratio 4x3, or the "remastered" 16x9 cropped version. This set also contains the Feature Film version of the pilot and the much maligned Galactica 1980 (which has a couple of good episodes.) Highly recommended for BSG fans and old sci-fi fans.

Having grown up through out the 70's and being a fan of Sci-Fi, it was only natural that I would take a liking to Battlestar Galactica. One of the things I liked about the show is that they used the 'mythology' for lack of a better word that there were different tribes of humans with the people of Earth being the lost tribe. The SFX are a little dated of course but for the late 70's and a TV budget, they did a pretty good job still. I would love to see them do like they did with the original Star Trek and go through each episode and update the effects to make them look more realistic... maybe some day. Anyway, if you enjoyed Galactica in your youth, you'll likely enjoy this set, specially with it including the movie and spin off show Galactica 1980

I bought this to get Battlestar Galactica the series and the movie on Blu-ray, I didn't care about Galactica 1980. The set includes the Movie in Widescreen. It also includes the original series and 1980 in both their original 4:3 format and cropped into 16:9. The video and audio clarity are excellent. This classic SciFi Series gets the treatment it deserves, but please watch in the original 4;3 to get full enjoyment.

For those of you, like me, that caught this series in it's original run, this Blu-ray release has been long awaited. While most of the special effects are taken from the original movie pilot (due to it's over budget issues) and despite some of the repetition, most episodes have faired well. The biggest issue for me, and why I chose the DEFINITIVE collection, is that there's a difference in the Widescreen presentation from the original TV-sized episodes. Some brightness and detail are somewhat watered down in the Widescreen (probably because it had to be rescanned for 16:9), while the original 4:3 has been meticulously restored. So it's like Beta vs. VHS, if you don't watch them side by side, you may not notice this defect. I did.

The visuals on the wide-screen version aren't the best but the full screen version looks great. I asked for a replacement of disc 3 since it was missing footage and Universal was quick to respond.

Had to buy this twice first one had a duplicate disc 2 for the standard version set. Best buy returned it at store but had to reorder it when home store couldnt order for some reason You get full set standard view full set widescreen standard and widescreen tv movie etc everything from the original series

This Blu-Ray Series is exactly what I've been looking for! I loved watching the original series when I was younger, along with several other SciFi series back in the day. Been searching for this for a while, and must say that while some of the episodes seem a bit dated, it's been great re-living those moments again! I enjoy them just as much and find them as captivating as they were back then.

Finally the Battlestar Galactica collections gets a decent Blu-Ray treatment. Remastering the originals and putting them in both standard full and new wide screen versions is great. Adding the uncut movie and Galactia 1980 is a bonus. The only thing to make this better would have been to spend the money and rework all the special effects (ala Trek) as they are horribly outdated.... A great addition to any collection.

The major advantage of this set over the "remastered collection," is the inclusion of the series in its original aspect ratio (OAR) and the 1979 movie theater version culled from the TV pilot and first episode. Oddly, the widescreen versions do not look nearly as pleasing as the OAR discs and their inclusion here is superfluous. Buy this set and skip the cheaper but less pleasing "remastered collection."

At the time (and still today) this series got some slack for being a Star Wars rip-off. Story-wise, it's actually quite different and more straight-up sci-fi and less fantasy. It's certainly dated, but as a 70s kid, I have no problem with that. And this release should please everyone.

I went to the well one last time for this. The main reason is because it has every thing from the original 70's era. Great for anyone starting to collect the series. Only down side is they could have spent a little more on the out side package. (Like the did on the original package the first time the series was issued on DVD) I am the kind of collector who does not mind spending a little more for a great package.

I watched Battlestar Gallactica religiously as a little kid during the series's original run. so when I stumbled upon this box set in a Best Buy store and found out it was on sale, it was almost a no-brainer to buy it. Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch are two of my favorite sci-fi swashbucklers.

I enjoyed Battlestar Galactica when it was live on the air. Purchased this product to renew my memories of the program. Had to return Disk 3 of the Wide Screen Battlestar because of errors in the disk. Go to either the digital bits.com or http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ for further information. They did an excellent job of remastering the program.

I bought this because of the original series, but it was a bonus to get the 1980’s remake. I remember watching this growing up and when I found out it was on Bluray and also widescreen I couldn’t wait to get it. Brings back fond memories.

Great series seen in all its HD glory on these blu-ray disks. This is the set to get since it gives you both widescreen and original full screen versions. So if you want to see it the way it was originally presented this is the only set that will provide that.
