Great for monitoring mids and setting levels

This little guy is a great add-on monitor for setting levels in recording and fleshing out the midrange frequencies of your mix. The 30W is perfect for near-field monitoring, and that's all these little guys are supposed to be for; that's what they're designed to do. The mids and highs come out super-clear compared to other monitors because of their single-amped, no-crossover design, and the 5 1/4" woofer is the perfect size to give you enough kick to work with drums and bass. The bass rolloff is high at 90Hz, but this was never meant to be a full-range monitor. The WILL emphasize the top end detail in much more clarity than a traditional woofer/tweeter design. It will make a great addition to a setup where you already have a set of bi-amped monitors. Do NOT use these as your main monitors. They are strictly add-ons. For what they are and their simplistic design, I do feel like they could be cheaper, but they are still the best commercial value in this kind of speaker right now. And if you're thinking about getting the C5As instead to save yourself $20, don't bother. Take the C50A. It's well worth it.
