They have to be plugged in, but u can have them set to record with motion sensor or just use them as a live feed.

Great, but with a minor issue

They are high definition and simple to set up and use. My only complaint is that this particular camera will alert me that there's motion detected when it is only detecting itself going from light to night vision mode. It's not that the light in the room suddenly changes, setting it off, it's some sort of bug in the programming causing it to record a video half in color and half in black and white. It will alert me at least once a day saying motion is detected due to this issue. Not a big deal, just a little annoying.
