Ordered 2 of these when they were on sale a couple of days ago gor 65.00 each. I was able to install them today, didnt take long to get them up and running. 4 stars only because of the small booklet with vague instructions. Once setup, mounting was pretty easy. Linked to Wi-Fi and now both are up and working. Longevity wise, i dont know yet, but I will make sure to see how long the batteries do last.

I love it, shows good footage and lights up very well! Responsiveness is very good too. I know i can lower that part of it but runs on batteries and has good life if you lower it. I have it on high and lasts me about 4-5 months on the D size batteries.

    Good Camera/Poor Floodlight

I was excited when I found out about a wireless solution for a camera/floodlight combo. Enter the Blink - Outdoor 4 Battery-Powered 1080p Security Camera with Floodlight (Amazon is the parent company of Blink) The packaging is excellent, then it was kind of downhill from there. The instructions include a QR code to download the app, this would allow you follow instructions for install for whatever product you received. Said instructions didn't include anything pertaining to how the camera actually mounts to the floodlight. Using an app to download instructions is such a lazy way to accomplish this. I ended up going onto Youtube to figure out how to attach the camera. You press it as hard as you can into place until it clicks. The instructions only needed to include that one sentence, but here we are. A wireless camera and floodlight, you would think it would include lithium batteries or maybe a little solar panel. (Especially for the price) The floodlight actually comes with four D size Duracell batteries, but wait there's more! The camera includes two double A Energizer batteries. Again, this is just laziness on Amazon's part. I don't know how the battery life is, because they're SIZE D BATTERIES. The floodlights are LED and adjustable and look awful. Pros: The video and picture quality are excellent on my phone. This product included a trail for 30 days to be able to save videos. After that trial is up basic plan is $3 a month for one device or $10 a month for unlimited videos that can be uploaded the cloud. You do NOT need a subscription plan for live view, motion alerts and two way audio.

Great flexible outdoor camera with local option

Quick Overview ================================= Setting up surveillance cameras for your home has never been so easy! From someone who has run wire and created "shelters" for non-outdoor cameras, it's almost too easy these days! Blink is just one brand that has flexible camera options for indoors and outdoors along with modules like a floodlight or Sync Module for local storage. Here, we're talking about the Blink Floodlight Camera that comes with a Blink Outdoor 4 camera and mount with two LED floodlights. Overall build ================================= This is plastic, but they all are these days. It's hard and sturdy and I don't have any doubt that it would last awhile. I do wish it was white like the Ring cameras since powerful direct sunlight in the summer would really get this thing (and the internal batteries - 4x D cells) hot! The LEDs can pivot independently and the camera in the center can tilt anywhere you like as well. There's a mounting plate on the back that can slide off and allow you to mount it where you need first, then simply slide and "click" on the entire floodlight + camera module. Setting it up was pretty easy considering I was new to the Blink ecosystem. I started with a Sync Module 2 (sold separately) and the Blink App for Android. I opened up the app, created an account, and was prompted to link my Alexa account (so I can easily see the cameras on my Alexa devices). I then added the Sync Module 2 via QR code. Now that the Sync Module 2 could connect to my Wi-Fi network, it was time to add the Floodlight and camera. You can start this setup by choosing to add a Floodlight in the app, but you'll get to a point where you need to add the camera. So you can add the camera first, if you want. Either way, you'll open the back cover of the Floodlight and remove the plastic that's keeping the 4x D batteries from wasting energy. Replace the battery cover and back plate. Next, I set up the camera by removing the rear panel (large screw you can use your fingernail with or a coin), inserting the included AA batteries, and scanning the QR code. Once the camera was setup, I snapped it onto the Floodlight mounting arm, and took it out to the balcony to test next to my existing Ring Floodlight. I removed the mounting plate and connected it to the balcony's bars (like my Ring), snapped the whole Floodlight unit back on, and verified it was working and connected to my Wi-Fi. Performance ================================= It was still daylight so the camera quality looked good, but I did notice that the field of view was quite a bit less than my Ring (see pics). Color and quality were great, and the app included all the basic features you'd expect regarding notifications, motion zones, night vision sensitivity, and more. Similar to the Ring app, once you open the app, your cameras are right there on the home screen so it's easy to get to the one you need quickly. I wanted to wait until it got darker to do more testing and proceeded to take another picture comparing Ring's night vision to Blink's. I think both were just fine, but I did enjoy Ring's wider field of vision specifically to watch a larger area. If you needed this in a narrower area (side of house, etc.), then the Ring might be just fine. The super-easy setup and flexible mounting options (all battery powered) make this easy to put up almost anywhere. By contrast, my Ring camera is wired and must be plugged in. One notable advantage the Ring has are the LEDs - 2000 lumens vs 700 lumens. This makes a big difference when it's mounted on a 2nd story and looking down into a large yard. I could tell the difference immediately! If this was mounted lower (let's say 8-10 feet off the ground), it might not make that much of a difference. At that point, they're still both bright enough at night be be annoying to a trespasser and illuminate the area. Regarding the mounting height, it's so easy to remove the Floodlight from the mounting plate (push down one tab, slide off), that you'll definitely want to mount it outside of most people's jumping range. Conclusion ================================= Overall this is a great, flexible outdoor camera with some great video/photo quality as well! It's affordable and works great with Alexa. Unfortunately for me, I didn't like the narrower field of view and I am "all in" on Ring so this may go to the side of the house since it's almost perfect for that. For those that are in the Blink ecosystem or looking for a new surveillance setup, I think this Blink Outdoor Floodlight is a great option. I also really like the idea of the Sync Module 2 (sold separately) that allows you to store local video on a USB flash drive.

    Great option for the money

Quality of the video is good at 1080p. Not as good as 2K or 4K, but at this price point is still a good option. The installation wasn’t as intuitive as I’d hoped. I got the Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight bundle and each device has its own instructions. Sync module, Camera, and Floodlight mount. They need to better align these on which to do/install first or have a separate instructions for when you get the bundle. I had to do some internet searching to figure out which barcode to scan first and install. I went the Sync module first, then Camera, then Floodlight mount. I clicked to fast during the floodlight mount and had to do a fair amount of digging to get back to the installation instructions. I figured everything needed to be charged and mistakenly plugged in the camera to a USB C to charge it only to realize it runs on batteries and that the USB C port is to connect the flood light to it. The blink camera uses 2 AA’s and the flood light uses 4 D batteries. Good and bad – you don’t have to charge it, but you do need to replace batteries at some point. We’ll see how long they last. Claims 2 years so time will tell. If so, that’s totally reasonable to get on a ladder and switch them out. Light output of the flood lights is very good. I have them mounted about 20’ above ground off of our siding next to the base of our 3rd story deck. Does a good job lighting up the outdoor staircase and the yard (see pic). I installed it with the included siding mount for ease, but I live in coastal NC and not sure that mount is going to stand up to any significant wind let along a tropical storm or hurricane. The vinyl siding mount was very easy to install (no tools) so I figured I try that first. If it does fall though, will probably break the whole thing at 20’ up, so I probably will drill it into the wood deck prior to next storm. Video and alerts are quick and I’m impressed with the speed the cloud video clips are available for viewing. Sensor is good and it picks up me and the dog in the yard from 25-30’ away. I like the double LED spotlights. They are easy to position to light up my stairs and whole side yard. Like all these internet cameras - the features are limited if you don’t pay the subscription, but at $3 a month/$30 a year it doesn’t break the bank.

    GREAT Floodlight/Camera!

A couple of weeks before this offer came up, my wife asked me to watch for any outdoor lights for our backyard. She is a Lieutenant at a major Denver Metro Fire Department so it's common for her to leave at the crack of ridiculously early... When this opportunity came, I jumped on it! Having already been a user of the Blink eco-system, this was a no-brainer.  And a perfect easy upgrade that met our needs perfectly! This offer had the Outdoor 4 Blink camera and the floodlight. Lithium batteries were included.  The setup was incredibly easy... Unboxed everything, inserted the batteries, added new device (the camera) into my existing Blink app and I was up and running. Please note, I already had the Blink Sync Module 2 that supports our four 4 Blink video doorbells. The Sync module allows you to have multiple cameras in the Blink ecosystem in one hub and you can save video clips by inserting a USB into it. I have a 256 Gig USB and it holds TONS of recorded video clips. OK, everything is programmed and ready to mount... The camera light came with a mounting kit that could be useful for certain environments, but for me, I used 3 short wood screws to from my misc drawers. I grabbed a ladder, a drill, and the 3 short screws... 2 minutes later, the base-plate was mounted. Placed the light/cam combo on the base-plate and was up and running. If you ARE NOT comfortable on a ladder or using a power drill, ask a family member or friend to help. But most folks who are comfortable with basic home maintenance/improvements will be very comfortable installing it, no problem. Once installed, you have several options in the intuitive and simple app regarding brightness, video recording length etcetera. Great app. We are very happy with this and would wholeheartedly recommend it to a friend! GREAT choice!

I have several blink cameras to start. Gen 2 and gen 3. So adding a gen 4 was a good upgrade. Out of the box there are 4 D batteries for the light and 2 AA for the camera. Neither of these is rechargeable. I already have a hub, so adding this camera was just scanning the code inside the back cover. Took less than 5 minutes. Amazon claims you can save recordings locally or pay $3/month for cloud storage and a few added features local storage won’t do. Local storage did not work even with Amazon tech support. The light for the flood light is dimmable, but the brighter you go the faster the batteries wear out so I am definitely going to look into rechargeable D batteries. I have rechargeable AA for my other cameras. You have several options for the camera. I think one of the best upgrades is the person detection. My other cameras record dogs and limbs moving. This 4th gen camera does not. There are many options for quality and sensitivity. I suggest you have a friend walk around the area you want to watch over and adjust the sensitivity as you need it. My privacy zones still set off the camera recording, something I need to work on.

it’s definitely worth the investment and it’s nothing like having redundancy when it comes to your security systems. It was easy to install right out of the box. The lights are bright batteries are included, and if you have other Blink cameras, it was easy to sync with the Blink app.
