Finally had a nice day to install the Blink Outdoor Wired HD Smart Security Floodlight and Camera. The light and camera were fully assembled and ready to install. I ran to the hardware store and picked up a white 4” round weatherproof receptacle to attach the unit to my stucco wall.
You need either an electrician if that’s what your building code requires, or knowledge of how to get 110v power to the unit. You can hard-wire it with Non-Metallic Wire or a pigtail depending on your setup. I’ve been meaning to put a non-switched outlet in my garage attic, so I hard-wired it in the same J box. That gives the camera and light constant power, which it needs. I thought about adding a switch, but I know which circuit breaker to flip if I need to turn it off. Installing the unit was a breeze. The worst part is standing on the extension ladder. I drilled a hole in the stucco to pass the wire through and attached the 4” receptacle to the stucco with blue tap screws. Then it was just following the instructions by attaching the included light bar, then the center mount and cover.
Once it was installed, getting it up and running on my Android phone was a snap. I already have a Blink Wired Doorbell, so I just added the floodlight to the app. I had the choice of adding it to its own group or to the doorbell group. I chose to create its own group and now I have two tabs at the top of the app. Nice. I don’t have a monthly plan, but I do have the Sync Module 2 installed in my living room and it works great. It takes a few extra seconds to view a clip, but I haven’t had any issues with it once I got it up and running. The floodlight saw the module and I don’t think I had to do anything to sync them. Oh, I did have to do a firmware update when the floodlight first powered up. It didn’t take too long, but I wish they would countdown the time left. Not knowing how long it might take is always bothersome on a new product. Other than that complaint, I’m happy with the performance and look forward to keeping my little spot on this rock a bit safer.
I’d recommend Blink products to anyone wanting to track movement on their property and to try and keep people honest. Nothing will stop a person from stealing or damaging your property if they are dead set to do it, but it may keep someone intent on mischief to choose a different target. And if they do, hopefully, the Blink cameras will have a nice clean mugshot you can download for the police and/or insurance.

This Blink Camera Floodlight is a mouthful. It is wired in that it's hard wired to 120V AC for power but it connects wirelessly to your home network. The HD refers to the camera resolution, 1080p. And smart - you can setup and get alerts via Blink's smartphone app in addition to two-way chat, and Alexa control.
Installing this camera/light assembly is relatively straightforward with the major difference being that te install is like that of a typical outdoor light which will wire directly to a single phase of your home's electrical service rather than through an AC adapter at the end of a 50 or 100ft cable that carries power and video. In some ways, having the camera be powered directly, or at least close to the installation location is great, no need to figure out potentially tricky routing inside the house or drilling new holes. But the tradeoff, you need a nearby junction box for a circuit that can take an additional device and wifi that will reach the light. Which kind of positions this as a replacement for an existing outdoor motion activated light. The housing design even follows through on this as the wiring can't be hidden inside. So you'd need to route it and take up slack inside conduit or the electrical box.
Once wired, setup is pretty straightforward. Even if you haven't used Blink in the past, almost all of these follow the same process. In that regard, it's no different from a battery powered outdoor camera. From the app, you go to setup a new floodlight camera scanning the QRcode from the manual. This let's the app connect to the floodlight and then goes through pairing it to your wireless network. From the app, you can then independently control each light, view a live feed from the camera, and of course configure settings for automatic detection, alerts, and alarms via the siren.
As is usually problematic for me, a lot of functionality or control over functionality is gated by Blink servers. As in you need to have an authenticated account before the app would allow you to use or configure the floodlight. So even though over normal use, almost no data needs to leave your home network, you still need Blink, whether you pay for a subscription or not, in order to operate your camera.
That said, video quality is good. Night time recordings are better than most due to being able to turn on the bright floodlights. I tried out the two way and it works well though people at the camera needed to talk a bit loud to be heard well. It's also not that great for two way conversations at night as people are looking into the light though one is probably using that feature to warn off people than to chat. The siren works though I'm not sure if it will truly be a deterrent. I don't get the sense it would prompt neighbors to do much beyond noting they heard a sound. But up close, it at least let's those in the home know something may have happened. Also, unlike motion control floodlight, this one actually has a person detection feature, so less worry about it triggering from normal trees or cats or cars that sometimes trigger floodlights.
I think the camera does a decent job. I like not having to worry about a battery. Given that my wifi doesn't have a battery backup and this doesn't have on-board storage, having a battery backup doesn't make sense. I don't mind the presence of additional features behind a subscription thought still prefer devices I can fully use without having to be logged in somewhere. Still, this earns a decent 4 stars from me.

Summary
-------------
I already have blink cameras and this wireless spotlight is a great addition to the set. Since i have been a long time customer, i have cloud recording free as well.
If you are a first time blink customer, then local storage is free. The spotlight is bright enough and the night vision records come out to be great.
Pros
-----
1. Wireless
2. Cheap
3. Can add on to existing blink set of cameras
4. Decent night vision.
5. Decent motion sensing
6. Battery lasts long
Cons
------
1. The video quality may not be as good as some of the wired competitors Or wireless such as arlo
Details
----------
Build quality
-----------------
Like all blink cameras, the build quality is pretty decent. The camera is water proof and all weather. It also shows you the temperature outside.
Setup
-------
Straight forward, just download the blink app and follow directions. You will need to scan the QR code on the camera to add it.
Usage
--------
The camera can be activated directly through the app. The camera can be setup to arm/disarm during a set time and you can also set the zone which need to be monitored for movement.
When the camera senses the movement it lights up the subject. The camera does not follow the subject as in some other competitors.
The duration of recording can also be configured in addition to retrigger of recording and i think this is a great feature.
The battery does last about a year. Since it is wireless, no drilling inside the house.
For the price and ease of setup, i think the camera is a decent buy.

I owned Blink wireless cameras prior to the company's acquisition by Amazon. They're a budget-friendly, practical, and decent alternative to pricier security camera options. This is my first foray into their wired cameras.
The video quality, sound, and motion alerts are similar to what I'd grown accustomed to in their wireless cameras, which either says a lot about their wireless cameras or makes you wonder why this couldn't have included a wireless/solar option. Unfortunately, for consumers, Blink moved to a subscription model so to really get the most out of your Blink devices/floodlight, you'll need to pony up for an annual subscription fee (but local storage options are still available as long as you purchased one of their local storage modules).
Overall the motion sensors do their job and trip the light/recording reliably. Video quality is sufficient to figure out who/what tripped the motion sensor. As with any outdoor motion sensor, expect a lot of false alarms. The benefit of this being wired is that the false alarms won't drain the batteries like they do in the wireless cameras.

Love this!! The lights are really bright. I had to turn them down in the app or they were blinding. It’s nice to see who’s coming up our deck steps and the picture is extremely crisp and clear.

As someone who is really into home security as well as lighting I seem to constantly be on the hunt for a good camera and/or floodlight. Since Blink combined these into one unit, and despite the fact that I have never owned any Blink products, I went ahead and went all in on this product, mostly due to the fact that Blink, at least in my eyes, has a good reputation.
When I ordered this device I did not realize it had electrical to wire. Albeit simple, I am one of the type of people who would no doubt electrocute myself and due to the simple fact that if I ever have a single issue with this camera then I would always wonder if it was my install. So with that being said I rang up my contractor Brian and a few days later on a nice, balmy Ohio day he went outside and began the install. A bit of time went by and he came and got me to get everything set up on my phone. Everything worked great, once I figured out there was no SD port to insert I was a little disappointed but not too surprised, I decided to go ahead nd consider the install portion done and begin using.
I did choose the default mode, which I believe is to remain on lit up at night but in low power mode, when something hits the zone around it then it comes on fully for a certain amount of time, I cannot recall how long, perhaps a minute, that ends after the person, animal or debris vacates the area around the camera. This makes sense to me and how Blink has it configured by default. I cannot speak to Alexa use as I don't usually add items of this nature to Alexa and monitor them myself as I work from home.
This camera and floodlight camera is something I'd recommend, so long as you know going in that you really only get 30 days to try out the unlimited recording before you get into a place in which you must decide how to subscribe and what exactly that you are trying to use the product for. I do not like it when companies eliminate the SD card option and for that reason I am deducting a star. Overall a worthwhile investment and I will continue to look to patronize Blink products.

The Blink outdoor wired camera with floodlight makes a great security camera to add to your house. With motion activated lights and recording it is super simple to keep track of what is going on in key areas of your house. This is a wired camera so it does require installation and wiring to house power, if you are not comfortable with this make sure to have either a professional install this or check out the wireless version of this same camera. The one downfall with this being wired is if for whatever the reason the power is cut this device will be offline since it does not have any sort of battery inside to keep recording.
I like the fact that Amazon has allowed the Blink devices to work fully without a subscription as long as you have the newer sync modules and a USB thumb drive you are able to record events locally without a subscription. There are some nice extras that are included with the subscription, but just for basic functionality no subscription is required and this is nice compared to some of the competition.
Overall I am extremely pleased with this camera and floodlight combo and would recommend it to anyone looking to expand their Blink security system.

Very satisfied with the quality and the price. Just beware like any other security camera there is a subscription you will have to pay for I believe it’s $3-$6 bucks a month to record.
