I mean, if you're buying a Borderlands game, you pretty well know what you're getting yourself into. They took what was great about the other games, and cranked it up to 11.
Also, the Steelbook is GORGEOUS

I preordered Borderlands 3 3 months in advance and I wasn't disappointed! The customer service my wife and I had when we went to pick it up was amazing. We didn't plan on buying the borderlands 3 Tubbz edition rubber duckies but we decided to get them anyway because we were in a good mood! Thanks for all the tips and advice Best Buy!

Borderlands 3 is what you make it. It’s the newest title from Gearbox and the looter-shooter genre. If you are looking for a challenge you can create one yourself, or if you prefer to go around destroying everything in 1 bullet, you can do that as well. With an enticing story told through the campaign missions, as well as many side missions and extra gamemodes, Borderlands 3 is chock full of content for players to enjoy. I just finished the campaign yesterday but still have much more to do. If you’re already a fan of the Borderlands titles and don’t have this game yet, what are you doing?? Go buy it right now! However if you’re new to the series, I recommend you give Borderlands 2 a try instead, as this game has lots of story elements that spoil the previous games. Overall this game is a great choice for current fans of the series, and is a future must-have for those just getting into Borderlands.

If you've played previous entries in the series, you know exactly what to expect here: co-op fun, lots of loot, and crass humor. It's great being reunited with familiar faces, especially those from Tales from the Borderlands (not a spoiler - they can be seen in the launch trailer). It's not a huge technical leap forward but the quality of life improvements are very welcome, such as the ability to mantle up ledges and fast traveling from anywhere on the map. Speaking of the map, you can now view the topography of the map in your menu so no more mystery waypoints as in BL1/2/PS. If you are coming directly off a replay of The Handsome Collection and are playing on a vanilla PS4, the halved framerate (30 FPS as opposed to the Handsome Collection's 60 FPS) is jarring but I was able to get used to it after a few hours. Finally, is the Super Deluxe Edition worth it? You'll get a voucher for the digital goods, of course, and the steelbook and embossed slipcover are very nice. If you know for a fact that you are purchasing the upcoming DLCs, yes. If you are a GCU member, it's a no-brainer.

A lot of people are complaining about a couple bugs at launch. I find that funny given how 98% of games that come out these days have day 1 patches. Sure, it has a few bugs, but the overall experience is fantastic. I will admit that the menus can be a tad slow, but it isn't really a problem. I've had the week off and I've been playing as much as I can. I can't get enough. The story is, admittedly, not better than BL2, but it is quite good and engaging if you enjoy zany chaos and psychotic cults that may or may not be a means of social commentary as all villains are. The gameplay is smooth and fluid. The guns feel satisfying and anyone can find a gun they'll enjoy using. The game also looks gorgeous if you enjoy that cartoony feel.
Overall, if you're a fan of the series: Get it. Well worth it.
If you're interested, but not sure: Eh, maybe give it a wait and nab it on sale. Or don't and see if it piques your fancy.
If you're not a fan and you just wanna hate: You do you, boo. I'mma be over here having a blast making heads explode.

It has been over five years since the last Borderlands game released in the Pre-Sequel, which left much to be desired, even if it was under the helm of another developer. Borderlands 3 marks the return and while it's pretty much more Borderlands, the game is immensely fun to play with all of the quality of life features added into the game.
For example, all four Vault Hunters feel unique and have three actions skills each, which can be switched whenever, so you are able to adapt to the enemies you encounter (individual skill trees still require respec'ing). To make this even more customizable, you have the option to augment the action skills, so if you wanted to switch from the base lightning to corrosive, then you possibly could, depending on the skill tree involved.
Other new features include the ability to slide and mantle, which might not seem like much, but the latter adds a lot more vertical movement without needed to try and resort to janky platforming. How many times have you been downed by the elemental barrels? Well, now you can melee or slide into them to send them flying at enemies.
By far, one of the best features to be added into the game is the ability to have your own loot when playing with others. When you begin the game, you have the option of choosing between the classic free-for-all in the other games, or to have every player have their own loot. To add onto this, every player has their own instance when playing, meaning the enemies are their current level in their own game when playing co-op, so you don't have to worry about being high level in a low level game. This means that you will always be progressing in terms of XP and guns (with few exceptions).
Of course, it's not all sunshine and rainbows, as the game's technical problems can hinder your enjoyment somewhat. The in-game menus can be a bit laggy, which is even more prevalent in multiplayer co-op, with the skill trees sometimes taking a few seconds to fully load. There hasn't been any crashed on my end, though, which is always a good thing, but hopefully Gearbox can iron out the other small hiccups here and there to make it a better overall experience.
If you liked the previous Borderlands games, then you will feel right at home with this installment. If the other games weren't your cup of tea, then you probably won't like this one much, either. If it isn't broke, then why fix it, right?

The gameplay and setup is similar to BL1 and BL2. The story line is excellent; however, it has some glitches in couch co-op mode:
-- Text on menu items is extremely small and hard to read even with accessibility turned all the way up
-- Game lags when your co-op partner has his or her menu open
-- Audio randomly disappears for NPC dialogue. Keep your subtitles turned on so you don't miss anything important or funny.
-- Super Deluxe Edition additional items are difficult to find. You have to check your mailbox while playing a character in-game. Mine glitched and provided me all the season pass items at the beginning, and then it gave them all to me again at level 10.
Visuals and art are a nice upgrade on the traditional cell shaded style used in previous games.
Most of the add-ons you get with the Super Deluxe Edition are not worth the extra price. You get a few weapon skins, but you have to apply them to each individual weapon which gets old. I'm waiting for DLC to become available before I can weigh in on whether it was worth the extra money, but if you love Borderlands as much as I do, you probably want the extra stuff.
I haven't had a lot of time to invest yet so I'm only to level 12. I'll update my rating if more time spent in game changes my perception.

What can I say, this game is so fun. After owning it and played the entire season pass. It's easily worth the asking price at launch. Though, if you can snag the Deluxe edition on sale, get it while you can, it's a steal. I spent hundreds of hours farming for my build, and it's very addictive. The game continues to receive updates, patches and fixes that prolong the game long after it's release and Gearbox is doing an amazing job. Easily one of the best game of 2019 I owned. I don't like to get into details about the game much but if you ever played a Borderlands game in your life, this one delivers and meet all your expectations. Ideally it is better to played the first two Borderlands prior to this just to understand the lore and the characters but not necessarily. You'll just have fun shooting and looting your way through hundred of hours of content.

A fantastic shooter game from start to finish. Easy to pick up and play, with an immersive story, a wide variety of characters to interact with, and more guns than the population of earth to use. The best way to learn about Borderlands 3 is to try it for yourself.

Borderlands 3 is actually the first Borderlands game I am playing, and after only few hours of playing, I definitely plan to try the other games out, too! It's challenging if, like me, you aren't used to playing first-person shooters on a console, but it is so much fun. The characters, the story line, the overall look and feel of this game are amazing. Not one for the kids though, it's pretty graphic both int terms of the gore and language.
Overall, I would highly recommend Borderlands 3. With four different Vault Hunters to choose from, each with their own style of play, there's sure to be a character for you!

I have loved Borderlands so much ever since the very first game came out just over a decade ago.
There is such a beautiful combination of nerdy and geek references to just about everything you can possibly imagine, a great Skill Tree for multiple playable characters, sweet graphics, bright colors, and hilarious story line.
It's a fun First-Person-Shooter that in my honest opinion of almost 30 years of gaming has very few games that can compare to it.

Really with this edition you're paying more for a disc in a shinney metal case and some digital gimmicks..It is a good game.. if it didn't have so many issues that need to be fixed/patched. Split screen is playable now after a few patches though it loves to lag at random times and every time you open a menu to do a thing. If you have no friends though and only play solo good for you! You'll have so many less issues. Honestly.. just wait and get the basic game when they've hammered out all the bugs/ issues/ glitches/ etc.

I have played borderlands 2 and I have been waiting for a long time for borderlands 3 to come out. Its a great game and its so much fun! I like everything about it such as the side missions, guns, and etc. They changed a few things from the previous game and made it so much better. I highly recommend people to get this game. I loved borderlands so much that I decided to get the super deluxe edition instead of the regular game.

Gearbox once again has not disappointed, with great worlds to explore, tons and tons of unique weapons to farm and lots of cool bosses. One of my favorite things about borderlands is the Easter eggs, and this game is FILLED with them :) There was some bugs at launch but slot of them have already been addressed. Can’t wait for the FREE seasonal Bloody Harvest DLC later this month!!

Playing every single Borderlands game and DLC (except the the Tales games),this is the same mechanic and gameplay of games I have come to enjoy. Except, the weapons are more fun. The characters are not as memerable as the last two games, and the skill tree can be a bit confusing and overwheleming, but stick with it and you'll blow by 100 hours + without noticing it.

The best way to sum up Borderlands 3 is this quote by Ronnie Coleman, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got.” Borderlands 3 fees more like a DLC than a stand alone title and to many that isn’t so bad. There’s plenty here to experience and the roadmap Gearbox has is filled with content leading well into the future. There’s tons of guns, tons of psychos and other baddies to shoot and the level design is comparable to Borderlands 2.
Let’s start with the obvious, the loot. The loot is varied and falls from the heavens every time you play. That little push forward in your progression always feels good.
The controls are tight and responsive, some of the guns have wacky mechanics but more often than not you’ll find something that gels with your play style. The vault hunters all have different abilities that set them apart from each other and those play styles vary just enough to not fee homogenized. Sadly the spec chart where you assign points have more modifiers than actual abilities so it seems like unnecessary fluff.
If you like Borderlands then you know what to expect coming in. If you’re a new comer to the series then it’s hard to recommend 3 as your introduction to the series over 2.

This franchise created the shoot and loot genre. It’s a great addition to the franchise and the story is simple enough for beginners to hop right in (though they will miss the hundreds of inside jokes.). It supports co-op play up to for friends and this game is so fu. It will consume hours, days, and weeks of tour life in the blink of an eye.
