Powerful in performance and message. John Singleton's Boyz N the Hood tackles this dangerous subject with sleek direction and emotional drive. The script is intangible to any other in its genre or subject and with the aid of Gooding, Jr., Ice Cube, Fishburne and casts makes for a masterful picture. 4.5/5

For John Singleton's first outing, this is an ambitious film. Coming back to this film after seeing it in 1991, a few things are pretty apparent: themes are disparate but show the give and take of characters and their relationships, and the complexities of youth, life and circumstance. Having listened to the commentary, this is confirmed with the deft touches and respect to the film craft. Its amazing to me with each actors performances, there are some cringe worthy spots, but overall this is a required film (I think) from the storyteller narrative.

just pretty much a tale about the hood an what the brothers go through in their neighborhoods this movie was executed perfectly and its got a great cast to back that up! cube is always as great as always , and cuba is good as well.

A seminal film in terms of its showcasing a sense of living with egregious situations in a home environment. Funny how it still seems to be captured in a bottle, and we have no way of connecting it to continued political choices that our legislature makes.

I already had the movie but my son is building his collection so I thought that the artwork was great so I purchased it. The movie gives a great look into the lives of people who live in south Los Angeles. It shows how important family role models and guidance shape young people.

This movie was a great movie from the early 90s. The picture quality was stellar. The remaster of this movie made a movie almost 30 years old look like it is still in the theater. Definitely worth the money!

This review is for the video quality of the disc; I don't think anything new can be said for this well-acted yet sadly poignant film. Colors REALLY pop, particularly reds (definitely scenes with blood); some scenes have a fine level of grain, some have razor-sharp clarity. The new Atmos mix has the sound of bullets literally whizzing over your head and sirens panning all around you. This is the best this film is ever going to look.

This is a classic movie that I’m glad got the 4K treatment and a very cool looking steelbook. Everybody should definitely watch this movie it pulls at a lot of strings and touches a lot a cultural issues

I absolutely love this movie and will watch it every chance I get. It's amazing to see where these actors are in their respective careers, since this movie was their debut acting role. This movie is a classic by far and will go down in history as a great movie!!

One of the most powerful movies ever made. This new 4k master with HDR is too beautiful. Sony restores the classics the most native and beautiful looking than any other studio i buy from.

While Best Buy's pricematch policy has changed, a good researcher is able to find better prices than those on the bestbuy.com website. I was able to get this movie for about 8 bucks. It's a classic, and I believe I had to have it after watch set it off & friday. RICKY!!!!!

This Movie was done when I was Jr. High school and it came out when I was at Morningside high school in 1991. It take me back to where we was in Inglewood, CA and had fun.

An all time, must have classic on 4K finally! This is thee BEST way to watch this movie and I highly recommend you get your copy while you still can! Thank you BestBuy for the deal!

This movie tells the ups and downs in urban core America. Ice Cube, star character, tells a great story about growing up in the 90's in urban Los Angeles, California. You'll love this movie!

This movie has never looked good on home video, including Blu-ray, but that now changes. This is a 5 out of 5 quality video transfer. Only drawback is the somewhat lazy Steelbook design

If you haven't already seen this then you need to. For everyone else. It looks good on Blu-ray. I wish I would have gotten it on 4k but at how cheap the Blu Ray is this is a great value

Awesome 4k features. The movie was really good. I can't believe this movie first came out in 1991. Well after watching it in 4k you would have thought it came out weeks ago.

I remember reading reviews for this movie when I was a teenager. We were a little late getting to the theater when we saw it the first time. We were a little confused as the boys were young in the beginning of the film. It’s a good movie and depicted the late 80s in Compton well I think. Decent acting from all. Some of my friends were sad at the end. Anyway I consider this a classic “hood” movie along w menace II society & a few others...

A good film with the some tidbits about the making of the film that's worth the cheap price. Thank God some black classic films are so cheap. It makes me feel like I was able to steal a masterpiece right out from under bestbuy's nose.

Got this on sale for $19.99. PQ is good considering the budget of the film. Dolby Atmos track is overkill but at least it includes the original 2.0 track & a 5.1 track also.
