Alistair Maclean is best know for his spy novels, most set in WWII, but he decided he would do a special Western which involed the Secret Service, Indians, and a Train full of people who were not what they seemed. He would go on to make it into a movie with Charles Bronson and his soon to be Wife Jill Ireland, along with the likes of Ben Johnson, Charles Durning, David Huddleston, and Richard Crenna. When it was released in 1975 it was one of the best Western Mysteries of the time. Now it is finally on Blu Ray and well worth the money to purchase.

A neat western that is actually a detective story set in the Old West. Full of twists, this who-done-it movie has action as well. A very good movie!!!

"Brekheart Pass" is a Charles Bronson western based a Alistair Maclean's novel. While it follows the book version closely, it seems a bit rushed in its execution on the screen. A nice cast, though Bronson would not have been my choice in the lead role, and Jill Ireland is somewhat wasted in her part of the script. Overall, though, an entertaining movie.

Charles Bronson delivers a good performance as an undercover Treasury agent on a Train. Ed Lauter delivers an excellent supporting role. There are a lot of excellent Character actors in this film, along with Richard Crenna as the crooked politician. Well worth it if you like Bronson.
