    Oven on the counter

First, let me begin by saying this IS an oven that will sit on your kitchen counter. It will do more than most ovens and it excels in all areas. Over the past week I have experimented with cooking different things and I will say, all with very good results. Because it can perform a variety of tasks it does take some time to make the adjustments for personal taste. As an example, it will toast bread and the middle setting for toast is way too light for my liking. I adjusted to one of the darker setting and it was perfect. As an oven, I baked vegetables and they came out better than when I do them in the regular oven. I air fried french fries and chicken wings and both were exceptional. I even did some frozen salmon and it came out perfect. I did have to adjust cooking times but you can do that easily while it's running. I am still working on other things to cook but so far so good. One of many convenient features is the light inside so you can check on cooking progress without opening the door. There is also a back-lit display panel that is easy to read and will change colors dependent on what the oven is doing. It is an easy way to check progress without having to stop something else your doing. One word of caution, the cabinet will get hot while it's running. It is clearly labeled not to touch but you probably shouldn't have anything within a few inches of it either. Overall I am very happy with the units features and performance.

The Breville Smart Oven Air is the first countertop oven that I’ve tried that also includes a dedicated air frying mode. While I already own both an air fryer and a rotisserie/convection toaster oven, my hope was that the Breville Air would replace both if it performed as well as, or better, than either. Out of the box, I noticed that the Breville Air is more compact than my current toaster oven by at least an inch and a half for all outer dimensions, however, the interior was just as roomy, allowing me to fit in a 13.25” x 9.5” baking pan, 5 Qt Dutch oven, or 12” cast iron chef pan. This is great because it gives me a little more counter space to work with, however, this space-savings comes at the expense of a rotisserie function. While I love making homemade rotisserie whole chicken, I’ve found that I can get just as delicious results from a basket air fryer as long as I flip it over halfway through cooking. With the Breville Air, I was able to achieve similar results using the ‘Roast’ function with convection on the included roasting rack and pan. Just select the time and temperature using the dials and pop your food in after the oven beeps to indicate preheating has completed, which usually takes about 8-10 minutes. Note though that the timer will start counting down immediately after preheating has finished, whether or not you’re around to put the food in the oven right away. You can, however, adjust the cook time up or down at any point during preheating or cooking. When the timer runs out, the oven will automatically shut off the heating elements. I cooked a 5 lb chicken for 1 hr and 15 minutes without turning or flipping, and the chicken came out evenly browned on all sides with crisp skin thanks to the even circulation of hot air from the convection function; there weren’t any hot zones that caused any one area to brown more quickly. It also does great with frozen fried foods such as tater tots and French fries. Using the included mesh basket tray in air fry mode, I got perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside results. I like that you can toggle between frozen and fresh, so that the oven will adjust to the optimal settings to cook the food. While the capacity of the basket isn’t huge (2-3 cups), since you have to place items to be air fried in a single layer without crowding them, I did like that I didn’t have to open the oven to stir/shake the basket halfway through, like you would in a traditional air fryer. I also thought it was clever to use magnets built into the door so that the wire rack and basket rack “auto-eject” about 3 inches when used in the middle position and the door is opened. Just note that when closing the oven door, the racks may jump out about a quarter inch when the magnets get close to them. The thing that makes this oven “smart” is the Element IQ System that adjusts power to the top and bottom quartz heating elements to deliver precision heating and optimal temperature where it’s needed for the mode that you’re using. But it’s not “smart” in the sense that it’s WiFi/internet or even Bluetooth connected, so don’t expect to be able to control this appliance from your smartphone or AI voice assistant. It also doesn't detect the done-ness of your food or adjust time or temp. The sensors just help it maintain a consistent temperature throughout cooking. The 'super convection' function is what gets you the extra dry and crispy fried texture and is used in air fry mode, but if you prefer a softer crunch, you can always use ‘bake’ mode with regular convection selected. The only drawback to the mesh basket is that cleaning can be harder if food sticks to it or drips onto the crumb tray below, like mozzarella sticks that melt out of their breading or sticky, glazed bbq buffalo wings, so I'd recommend using the roasting tray for those. There’s a keep ‘warm’ mode that allows you to hold your cooked foods at a safe temperature of 160°F to prevent bacterial growth and a ‘reheat’ mode that will warm up foods slowly without browning or drying them out. Other than that, I think the other features like broil, bake, toast are pretty standard for a convection oven, though note that the broil mode lets you push the temperature a bit higher to 500°F on the ‘Hi’ setting (400°F and 300°F for the ‘Med’ and ‘Lo’ settings respectively). All modes have a range of time and temperature selections except for toast and bagel where you select darkness level and quantity instead. I did find that turning the time adjustment knob for longer cook times can be tedious, since for times under 1 hour, the increments are 1 minute, and after 1 hour the increments are 5 minutes, but it takes a while and a lot of turning, for example, to get to 8 hours if you’re using 'Slow Cook' mode. Also, the temperature knob has inconsistent increments, usually 10° F but sometimes 5°F at inexplicable intervals. Both knobs suffer from the same sensitivity problem where sometimes if you turn the dial to increase or decrease the time or temp, at the end when you stop turning, the setting my jump back one step, for example, when increasing the temp to 350°F, if you stop when that number appears on the screen, it sometimes goes back to 340°F when you let go of the knob. You do have to wipe down the inside with a soft, damp sponge after every use if you really want to keep it clean (after it has cooled down, of course), but I like that the crumb tray is easily removed and cleaned. The manual indicates all the included accessories should be hand-washed though. Other than that, I appreciate that the LCD panel is nice and bright so it’s easy to read, even at night. It also changes color from blue to orange so you know when the heating elements are on or if it’s just in standby. All in all, I think the Breville Smart Oven Air cooks my food with great results and better evenness and temperature control than my previous small appliances. It preheats quickly, is versatile, and lets me avoid using the big oven when I don’t need the extra space. Best of all, it combines the functionality of two appliances that I have without sacrificing counter space or performance, so now I have more room on my countertop and only one thing to clean.

This is definitely a must buy for someone who doesn’t have a toaster or oven or air fryer. Maybe a college student or someone moving into an apartment or a couple who is getting married they should have this on their wedding registry. For the past few days I have toasted, baked and air fried multiple things. Each time it came out perfect. There is a “cookie” function which we tried. It came out soft a chewy in the middle with a crispy crust on the outside. Frozen pizza cooked evenly with no issue. But I have to say the best function is the air fryer. Sweet potato fries came out perfect. It’s a must try. I guess the question is do I need another small appliances. I would say yes. This would make a perfect birthday or Christmas gift. Plus a lot of us are staying home right now. Why not take up cooking ?

overall good oven. easy to use. few issues ive encountered after a year of owning. the door gets very squeaky when opening and closing. have to grease/clean the hinges so it stops making noise. and the temperature drops on its own mid use. especially happens during bake/roast function. maybe newer models dont have this issue.

Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****Review***** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you tired of having different kitchen appliances all over your kitchen? Taking up unnecessary space and having them only be beneficial for just one task? Well… If you are an individual that loves to cook or knows someone that loves to cook and want to make their time in the kitchen more efficient yet enjoyable; look no further… I present to you the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer. This thing of beauty is constructed of brushed stainless steel and this specific model comes in the color of black truffle. The appearance of this 11 in 1 smart cooking kitchen appliance looks fantastic and premium in my kitchen. Not to mention this kitchen appliance also has an LCD display which gives it an extra “wow” factor. Still not amused? What about an integrated oven light that automatically turns on when your food is done cooking? Or perhaps you want to turn it on randomly to check on your food? Breville has you covered and on top of that the integrated oven light can be replaced just like your regular large oven. Looks aren’t everything though here ladies and gentlemen. As mentioned, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer comes with 11 preset functions: Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, Air Fry, Warm and Slow Cook! It doesn’t stop there though… The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer also has a nice range of temperature that you can select from between 120 degrees and 500 degrees fahrenheit. What this means is that with low temperatures you can slow cook or if you prefer you can crank the temperature up and air fry or broil whatever it is you’re cooking. On top of that, you are also equipped with super convection so that the hot air circulates around your food so that it lessens your cooking time and air frys (crisps) your food perfectly. What I thoroughly enjoy is the “smart” feature that Breville implemented into this kitchen appliance. With the Element IQ System built into the unit; it has sensing capabilities to measure temperatures so that it eliminates cold spots which means it leaves your food cooked perfectly inside and out. I had the opportunity to cook everything from frozen cornish hens, frozen dino nuggets, frozen french fries, frozen fish sticks, frozen garlic bread, frozen pizza down to fresh chicken breast, fresh steaks, fresh chicken wings, potatoes, brussel sprouts, bagels, toast, muffins, and cookies. Okay fine… my wife did the muffins and cookies; I’m not a baker. I didn’t once have any problems cooking any of my dishes/food. All the functions did what they were designed to do and my kids loved their frozen foods nice and crispy without the added oil. You’re probably wondering… what about cleaning it? Breville has you covered here for the most part because they’ve made it so that the interior is non-stick! The accessories that came included (except the air frying basket) are all easy to clean. All you need is a little bit of dish soap and an ordinary dish sponge and you’re good to go. My only gripe that I have personally is with the air frying basket. Although it serves its purpose the cleaning can be extremely difficult. Because of the design/material of the basket; whatever sponge you’re using to clean it is going to basically shred when rubbed against the basket. Seeing as how this oven is marketed as a “Smart Oven Air Fryer”; I personally would’ve liked to see a better/easier to use and clean air frying basket. It seems as if Breville knew this too because on the basket it even says to not cook anything that “drips” knowing that the cleaning of the basket is going to be a pain. Perhaps Breville could’ve made it so that the air frying basket is also nonstick and include it with a suspended drip pan beneath it (this way food you’re air frying gets proper air circulation)? I do enjoy that the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer isn’t overly huge; it’s about the same size as my microwave. When it comes down to it my kids can eat healthier, cooking is easier for me and my wife can do her baking. The benefits definitely outweigh the one gripe I have. I have to say I am still impressed even with the minor setback I have with the design of the air frying basket. Breville has made a kitchen appliance that is versatile and stunning all at the same time. If you’re currently considering replacing a good amount of appliances in your kitchen (including your stand alone air fryer); give the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer an opportunity to amaze you. This thing of beauty can look the part and do what it needs to do… 11 things in 1 that is. I have replaced a good amount of my kitchen appliances and now only have the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer assisting me with all my cooking needs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****Quick Features & Specs***** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEDICATED AIR FRY SETTING: Why buy a stand alone air fryer when the Smart Oven Air Fryer can turn out guilt-free french fries, chicken wings, family favorites and so much more. Upgraded toaster oven

First off, this oven has an amazing, elevated look. For many years I used iterations of another “regular brand” toaster oven. I don’t use one of those toaster things with the slots, I need a little oven that multitasks. The one that was just replaced, which also had an air fryer function, was driving me crazy because the crumbs would get stuck in between the glass and metal door hinge, besides a lot of other things. This Breville Smart Oven will please those obsessed with a sleek looking kitchen. My kitchen has stainless steel appliances and dark cabinets. This black truffle color, which is is an eggshell-type finish black, looks great in there. I get tired of cleaning fingerprints off of all of the stainless steel appliances, so this is a nice change, I would highly recommend the black truffle color. Maybe you’re like me, looking to upgrade from a “regular brand” oven and want to know if it’s worth it. I feel like Breville looked at my “regular brand” oven and improved each element to make it this great little oven. Here are some examples: The door glass has the rack level marked on it so you don’t mess up on putting the rack on the wrong level. The door hinge itself is actually something you might have to work on, it has a crazy strong spring feel to it, and if you’re like my husband, he can’t remember this and the door slams shut because he can’t remember to do it carefully. Just close it CAREFULLY. The heating elements are on the bottom of the oven, but they have a protective metal piece over it. My old oven had exposed heating elements that cause the oven to smell terrible if cheese melted on it. The crumb tray is awesome, it has a slight concave shape that would make anything liquid go towards the middle. Also the crumbs dust off of it quite nicely, it’s easy to wash, and the tray itself pulls out so nicely. There is an interior light which you can turn on. I didn’t think this would be that big a deal, but it is pretty dark inside the oven, and the light is bright, so it’s a really great feature. There is a “frozen” button to activate if you are toasting bread from frozen. This is also brilliant as we keep bread in the freezer and some of us are too lazy to defrost it for a few seconds in the microwave before putting it in the toaster. It adds a minute to the toasting time, but it comes out perfect. The air fryer tray/basket is very similar to my “regular oven” one. While this smart oven cooked my chicken nuggets to perfection, I don’t feel like this is the same kind of air fryer as the free standing ones with the pull-out basket. I have two of those, and with them you can spritz a bit of oil on your frozen nuggs and give it a bit more to bring it closer to what your tastebuds are used to in terms of actual fried food. With this oven and most likely any similar oven you don’t want to put anything too oily in it because of the heating elements on the bottom, you don’t want to start a fire. The dimensions are listed in the product page specifications here, but the minimum depth required to accommodate the oven and opened door is 23”. You will want to have countertop area underneath the door handle. Another element to comment on is the electrical plug for this unit. It is about 3” long with a finger hole to help unplug it with. The design is probably to give the oven the room needed in the back so it doesn’t get too close to the wall, but I plug my toaster oven into a power conserving device with a switch so it is without power unless I flip the switch on it, and that makes it too deep. I turned the oven sideways on my countertop with the plug to the side and that works fine. I happened to have a kitchen with this area that is perfect for a toaster oven and it has always been a toaster oven area. Overall I really like this Breville smart oven and would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

Love this piece, it's so versatile. Baking, broiling, toasting, air frying, warming...does it all . With less space than multiple appliances. It does take longer to make toast/bagels than using a toaster, but it's worth it for every thing else it does.

Definitely a 5 star unit. The quality and finish are excellent with no sharp metal edges, it is extremely easy to use and the multiple functions are easy to select. Toasting and baking operations worked perfectly and 30 seconds before the end of the cycle, the oven light turns on so you can see if more time is required or if you should stop the cycle. One nice feature is when the tray is in the center position, a magnet on the door pulls the tray out as the door is opened, allowing easy insertion or removal of the item. However, closing the door with the tray extended, will require some help since this "opening" feature tends to jam and prevent the tray from easily slide totally into the oven. Brevelle needs to perfect this feature.

We have had similar air fryers, previously we had purchased Cosori from Amazon, They worked well, far better than the basket type but this is next level. It does an amazing job and being empty nesters, this is what we cook, bake, air fry about every meal. Heats up quickly, no burning and the heat elements are far better and well protected than previous models we had. Non-stick interior and a removeable bottom tray makes it easy to clean. The design and quality is really much better. The only drawback, and it is minor, is that it is somewhat louder than previous models we have had. This does cost more than what we had previously but so far, totally worth it.

We love this air fryer. So far, we have only used the toaster and airfryer settings. So glad we purchased the large model. It replaced a countertop oven, toaster, and smaller airfryer. We now have a lot more countertop space. We definitely need to keep the instruction book close by until we learn all the ins and outs of operation.

I am so pleased with this oven. I just purchased a home that has a gas range, and as I've never used gas, I opt for this do everything oven. I toast my bagels in the morning, cook frozen pizza for lunch, I've made cookies and roasted a whole chicken! It took me awhile to write this review because, although I knew it had so much potential I wasn't able to quickly master it So besides the oven you get several different accessories, like a pizza tray, basket (think fries or wings) a shallow roasting pan and more. You can either set your own time and temp or use the presets to cook your food. I will say about the presets, watch your food because it sets both the time and temp but you can always adjust either. Also try not to put you bake rack into the top slot or you'll wind up burning your food. I like all the options. I can manually turn on the light to see my food, set the temp to 'F' or 'C', there's just nothing that i can gripe about...wait one thing. The top of the oven close to the door gets extremely hot! Other than that I'm good. My next meal, lasagna.

I honestly don't know how I cooked without the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer before! This isn't just an air fryer; it's a complete kitchen workhorse that has completely changed how I prepare meals. From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the solid, brushed stainless steel design – it looks fantastic on my counter. The controls are intuitive and easy to use, with clearly marked functions for air frying, roasting, baking, toasting, and more. It heats up incredibly fast and maintains a precise temperature, which means perfectly cooked food every single time. The air frying function is a total game-changer. My chicken wings come out incredibly crispy, fries are golden perfection, and even roasted vegetables get that beautiful char without needing tons of oil. Beyond air frying, it excels at everything else. I've used it to toast bagels evenly, bake cookies beautifully, and roast entire chickens to juicy perfection. The generous interior capacity means I can cook for my whole family without issues, making it ideal for everyday meals and entertaining. It's truly replaced my standard toaster oven and often even my full-sized oven for smaller meals. Clean-up is surprisingly simple, thanks to the non-stick interior and removable crumb tray. This appliance saves me so much time and effort, not just in cooking but also in reducing the need to preheat a large oven. It's versatile, powerful, and consistently delivers outstanding results. If you're looking to simplify your cooking, eat healthier, and upgrade your kitchen with one of the most useful appliances you'll ever own, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer is an absolute must-buy. It's worth every penny and then some – truly a 5-star product!

I love this oven. Pretty expensive but I did get it on sale. It’s very easy to use. You can feel the quality when you open the door and the rack slides out a few inches upon opening the door. It’s big enough I can actually cook something in it. There are 2 of us so we didn’t need the bigger model.

I really like this Oven, it cooks great! It has the fan on the right side wall when most air fryers have the fan in the back wall. It's fast, quiet and efficient. Was a little pricey, but so far seems like it's worth it.

We have had this oven for about 2 weeks and have used it almost every day, and have used everyone of the heating/cooking options. We found the bread we baked to be much better than when done in our regular over. We don't have a lot of counter space so this size was perfect for us. The settings and dials are very intuitive, and it does preset for what you have dialed it to do, but you can still adjust the time or temp if you need to. Our frozen pizza was great, especially since this has both an upper and lower heating element. Even though a bit pricey, it is well worth the price.
