With alternate histories and crazy weapons, Treyarch’s Black Ops games have always been Call of Duty’s oddballs. After killing mind-wolves with a swarm of nano-bees in the new campaign, I’m happy to say Black Ops 3 not only continues that trend, but smartly embraces its sci-fi oddities more than ever before. But the most remarkable thing about Black Ops 3 isn’t its tone; it’s the sheer amount of content which, at its best, is some of the greatest I’ve seen in Call of Duty (note: the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions lack many of the features of the current-gen and PC version). Multiplayer still has the depth fans expect by now, but the addition of unique Specialists makes every player more important. Likewise, the option for four-player co-op and the new focus on playing how you want make the campaign and Zombies modes more rewarding and fun to play than they’ve ever been.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It is the twelfth entry in the Call of Duty series and the sequel to the 2012 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 6, 2015. A feature-limited version developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technology that only supports multiplayer modes was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and was also the final Call of Duty title released on those platforms.
Black Ops III takes place in 2065, 40 years after the events of Black Ops II, in a world facing upheaval from climate change and new technologies. Similar to its predecessors, the story follows a group of black ops soldiers. The game's campaign is designed to support 4-player cooperative gameplay, allowing for bigger, more open level design and less corridor shooting. As the player character is cybernetically enhanced, players have access to various special activities. The game also features a standalone Zombies mode, and a "Nightmares" mode which will be unlocked after the player completes all campaign missions.
Announced on April 26, 2015, the game is the first Call of Duty video game released after Activision parted with Microsoft Studios and partnered with Sony Computer Entertainment, which secured the timed exclusivity of the game's downloadable content. Upon release, the game received generally positive reviews from critics, albeit slightly lower than the previous two games in the sub-series, with critics praising the gameplay, Zombies mode, and content. However, it was criticized for its story, absence of fan favorite story mode characters, and its lack of innovation. The seventh-generation console versions in particular were criticized for the lack of a campaign and numerous features, as well as it being online-only. It was a commercial success, with it becoming the top-selling retail game in the US in 2015, and one of the most successful titles released for the eighth generation of video game consoles.

Call of Duty in recent years has been getting a lot of flack from their so called "fans" for being less fun. It's a rather entitled attitude. No one is forcing you to buy this. I really don't understand it. I have enjoyed every Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare. While not every game has been on the same level, I have seen no reason to knock Black Ops III. Fun campaign, solid multiplayer, zombies, fabulous graphics, while maintaining 60 fps are just a few of the good things about this game. I think my favorite feature, however, is that in the campaign you can choose your load out every mission. If you want to only use one type of gun the whole game? You can do that. You can also let them decide what load out to give you if you want a more standard experience. I've personally enjoyed challenging my skills by using a sniper rifle through most of the game.

I bought Battlefield 1 and was talked to into purchasing this to play with two of my other friends. The pros - it is super fast-paced unlike BF1 and the maps are a lot smaller. Zombies is an awesome addition. The cons - I prefer real weapons (BF1) with realistic humans and none of this high-flying Halo futuristic style. But that is just my preference. I played the game four times online and zombies a handful of times in the past two months that I have owned this game (I play BF1 four times a week). I prefer BF1 and hopefully the new COD this year reverts back to the original.

Black Ops 3 is one of the better modern Call of Duty games (certainly deserving of a much higher score than Ghosts), but it's really just riffing on Advanced Warfare a bit too much. The best reason to get it is to play Zombies in the remastered DLC. Other than that, it'll set you right if you need a COD fix, but it's not going to change how you feel about the series.

The Black Ops series has always been a bit more cerebral than the other Call of Duty games. This one is no exception. It's not as good as the first Black Ops, but better than the 2nd in my opinion.
Gameplay is fun and has a lot of variety with the various weapons and upgrades and core powers.
Graphics are great. Voice acting is top notch though I attribute most of the best dialogue to Christopher Meloni and Katee Sackhoff.
Fun game if you're looking for a way to kill some mindless hours with a lot of different abilities and ways to attack each situation.
