People often look for different things in a coffee maker. From build materials to aesthetics; from brew settings to more complicated features like milk frothers and more. This Calphalon Special Brew keeps things simple: brew a good pot of coffee, and look good while doing it. UNBOXING: In the box, you’ll find the coffee maker, the 10-cup carafe, and a few #4 cone style coffee filters. The unboxing experience was easy and hassle-free, allowing me to get right to the setup and brewing. FIRST-TIME CLEAN: The instruction manual recommends cleaning out the removable filter basket and the carafe before brewing. I then proceeded to fill the carafe to the 10-cup mark with cold water, then filled the reservoir and placed the empty carafe on the warming plate. I pressed the button to start brewing, and after a couple minutes, it finished. Afterwards, I dumped the hot water in the carafe and my first-time clean was as fast as my unboxing experience. RATIOS: According to the manual, 1 cup is 5 fl oz. So this 10 cup carafe delivers a maximum of 50 fl oz of coffee. While you may have different preferences, here are the suggested ratios: Water | Ground Coffee 10 cups 17 Tbsp* 8 cups 13 Tbsp 6 cups 10 Tbsp 4 cups 6.5 Tbsp *May cause overflow if using fine coffee or decaf coffee BASIC USAGE: Using the coffee maker is easy. Make sure your carafe and basket are clean, then fill the carafe with the amount of water you want to brew, then pour that into the empty reservoir. Place your carafe on the warming plate, set the filter into the basket, pour in your grinds, then brew. The coffee maker will brew until all the water in the reservoir is depleted. So be sure to brew only the amount you want! RESULTS: After brewing was completed, I measured a temperature at the middle mark of 160-170 degrees Fahrenheit. It took about 6 minutes to brew (8) cups, or 40 fl oz. One reason for this lower temperature is because I used colder water, and also filling the carafe with colder water caused the carafe to be cooler. That being said, after some time elapsed, I re-measured a temperature of about 180 degrees Fahrenheit. So using room-temperature water or pre-heating your carafe just before brewing will yield hotter temps right after brewing. Alternatively, you can wait for the coffee to reach your prime drinking temperature. That being said, 10 cups will take longer to heat compared to 4 cups. In my opinion, I think this coffee maker does put out good coffee. In comparison to my previous single-serve coffee bar, I’d say this coffee maker created more aromatics and delivered a more robust, full-body flavor that I enjoy. Waking up to the smell of coffee is always nice, and I actually got positive comments regarding the aroma. While that’s a testament to my choice of coffee, it’s also a testament to the coffee maker doing an excellent job. ADDITIONAL FEATURES: Once it is brewing, you can press the “Hour” button on the clock to show the amount of time elapsed since the machine started brewing. That way, you can decide for yourself if you want to continue drinking a pot that was brewed 2 hours ago or make a new pot. Bear in mind, that this does have a warming plate that will keep the coffee warm for 4 hours. After which, it will turn off. You may also turn it off whenever you like by pressing the Off” button. Additionally, there’s the ability to do a “Strong” brew, which I personally won’t use, as it will keep the water in contact with the coffee grinds for longer, creating a stronger flavor, but could become overwhelming or even burnt. My favorite feature is the delayed brew. Set the time you want your brew to start, fill the reservoir with water and your filter with grinds, and press the “Brew Later” button. When that time rolls around, it will start brewing. EASE OF USE: One thing that I liked was the filter basket having a rotating handle so it can lay flat when brewing, but can easily be swung up after brewing so you can remove the basket and empty the contents without risking any burns to your hands. Another thoughtful feature was that this swinging handle is removable so that you can fit a reusable filter that may already have a swinging handle. I bought the #4 GoldTone reusable coffee filter, and after removing the handle from the filter basket, I was able to fit my GoldTone filter. Even after having removed the handle from the basket, there’s still a little pull-up tab on the basket so you can continue to remove it with ease. Calphalon wants to give you the best experience, regardless of your choice of filter. Regarding the paper filters, the included filters are #4 cone filters, and they fit quite nicely. They weren’t too large, they weren’t too small. They hugged the basket without causing any frustration, so I was happy with the experience. DESIGN: Firstly, if you have tall countertops (like a liquor bar), this coffee maker is taller than cheap coffee makers, so having to pour water into the reservoir will be just a tad bit more challenging if you are eye-level to the top of the reservoir. On standard countertops, I’ve had no issue filling the reservoir, and it fits in the space between my countertops and the kitchen cabinets without issue. Additionally, it has a clean aesthetic that makes it pleasant to look at. One thing some may dislike about this is the short cable length. I don’t personally see a need for having a longer cable, as it sits close to an outlet on my countertop, but others that want to position it further away from the source outlet may have to use a separate extension cable. But day-to-day, I think the design is pleasant, while being easy to tuck away. CONCLUSION: Overall, this coffee maker is for those who are looking for a machine that has a pleasant aesthetic and makes a great pot of coffee in little time. Its features are simple to use, and the brew/cleanup process is quite easy. As someone who likes a good cup of black coffee, this has become my go-to machine.

    Overpriced & Bulky Coffee Maker

==== Summary ==== This Calphalon coffee maker, despite looking very sleek and modern, is an overpriced and underwhelming product. The unit is too tall for use underneath my kitchen cabinets, the left-to-right orientation takes up too much space on the kitchen counter, the "20% more flavor" sounds like a nebulous marketing claim, and the features it offers (Delayed Brew, Strong, Keep Warm) are no better nor more special than my older <$50 coffee maker. Its few saving grace are its good-looking design, easy programmability, and its ability to brew coffee pretty fast. **Pros: -Slick & modern design in stainless steel & dark gray color scheme. -Crisp and bright LCD screen. -Easy to clean and maintain. -Simple operation. -Brews coffee really fast. -Delayed Brew function is helpful & easy to set up. **Cons: -The power cord is a bit too short. -Unnecessarily too tall. -Takes up too much space on the kitchen counter. -Very prone to fingerprint smudges. -Too expensive for what it can do. Not a good value. ==== Design ==== My first impressions of this Calphalon coffee maker started off great. The dark gray design with stainless steel color elements looked great and I liked that it looked modern and high-tech. The LCD screen is big, bright, and easy to read. All the buttons are tactile and worked well. All the parts actuated smoothly and in a frictionless precise manner. Then the negatives began to surface. The short power cord, the unnecessarily tall design that makes it difficult to fit underneath my kitchen cabinets, and the left-to-right orientation that takes up too much space. Once I started to touch and move the coffee maker around, I realized that it is very fingerprint- and smudge-prone and a hassle to constantly adjust it around the kitchen counter. It sure looks fancy but that's not enough for me to like this thing. ==== Functionality ==== When it comes to executing its primary function - brewing a cup of coffee - this Calphalon coffee maker does a good job. I poured about 6 & 1/2 cups of water, pressed "Brew," and it finished brewing in about 2 & 1/2 minutes. Speedy~! The water was very hot as well, which I liked. Afterwards, it automatically entered the "Keep Warm" mode that lasts for about 4 hours without burning the coffee, according to Calphalon. I would never leave coffee alone for that long so I don't know if my coffee would've gotten burned or not. But it is nice to have that option nonetheless. Using a coffee grinder and the included filter, I tried the "Strong" setting but I couldn't taste any difference. Maybe it was just the particular coffee beans I used, maybe it is just some hazy marketing gimmick, or maybe my tongue isn't sophisticated enough to detect such nuances. When it comes to performance, though, I'm happy with this Calphalon coffee maker. ==== Value ==== For the price this Calphalon sells for, it is NOT a good value. My older <$50 Black & Decker machine can do almost all the same things this Calphalon can do - brew coffee, perform delayed brew, and keep warm. My older unit's brewing time is definitely longer and water feels less hot. The Calphalon looks fancier, of course, in its stainless steel and dark gray color scheme. However, it is just a paintjob over a build that does not feel any sturdier than my older Black & Decker model. Unless you really, really like the way this Calphalon looks, I recommend that you purchase something else. ==== Conclusion ==== I wouldn't recommend this Calphalon coffee maker to my friends or family. At its current price point, it simply isn't a good value. Sure, it brews coffee really fast and water is hot and steamy but its inconvenient design quirks - too tall, bulky left-to-right orientation, large footprint, short power cord - and basic functionality do NOT justify its unusually high price.

Fantastic Coffee Maker. I drink more coffee now

I’ve previously used a coffee maker I bought at Walmart for the past 8 years to compare with this one. I spent around $25-30 on that one, so how good can a coffee maker really be, especially one this expensive? I mean it just pours hot water over coffee grinds basically. I’ve been using this one a couple of weeks now, almost daily and here is my review: To start off, it’s a very nice looking coffee maker. Modern look with a simplicity touch. 3 buttons plus your hour/minute buttons. It made my kitchen look much better than “Mr Coffee” did. Next, I noticed it uses a different coffee filter than what I’m used to, it uses cones (#4) instead of the standard filter. Not sure if this makes a difference, but wow the coffee somehow tastes so much better out of this! The day before I made coffee out of my old coffee maker, it almost tasted watered down. The next day when I first used this, it was like night and day. I didn’t even use the “Strong” option on this, I still haven’t quite figured out what Strong does (aside from technically making it stronger?), but the coffee was delicious. I was baffled on how this was possible. I use the same coffee brand, same quantity of grinds, and same water amount as before. I loved it! On top of the better quality of java it made, there is a true no drip system to it! My last coffee maker technically had a no drip system but it always did and I used to have to tilt my carafe at an angle to help drain some of the extras fluids so it wouldn’t drip on the heating plate. In the approximate 20 times I’ve used this coffee maker, not one drop has fallen! I’m still not used to it. Then the carafe seems much better not spilling any coffee when pouring. Again, with my last coffee maker I used to have to pour it over the sink because sometimes the coffee would pour down the outside of the carafe no matter how careful I was most of the time, this was something I read in reviews when I bought it and just accepted it. This carafe does not have that problem whatsoever! There is one downside to this carafe, when you are trying to pour the last little bit of coffee out of the carafe into your cup, the lid opens and the remaining coffee spills out and burns your hand. This has happened to me twice. Basically its hard to get the last little bit of coffee out unless you can hold the lid down while pouring it. Added features are that the burner heats for 4 hours versus my previous maker of 2 hours and if you hold the Hour button down after the coffee has been made it tells you how long ago the coffee finished brewing. Very handy, especially if you’re picky on the age of the brew! Another nice feature is the coffee maker beeps when it has completed brewing so you know when you can get the freshest cup possible. The delayed brew also works like a charm and is easy to use. Overall this is a fantastic coffee maker that I’m in love with. The only downside is pouring the last little bit without getting it to spill out of the carafe. The price also seems a little steep for a basic (but nice) coffee maker. I’d expect wifi/Alexa compatibility to be added for this price range, but if you don’t mind spending the money its def worth it.

At $160, it's easy to write this off as a solution in search of a problem, I mean come on, who'd spend $160 for a coffee machine? That's what I thought at first. My wife and I are self-identified coffee lovers, we have an espresso machine, single brew and now this bad boy. At first, my wife was disappointed to learn that it only had a 10-cup carafe. But then we used it for the first time and holy freaking cow! A typical problem with any coffee machine is that the heating element stays on no matter how much coffee is in the carafe. That's why coffee at the bottom tastes hotter and more burnt. This thing has a "smart brew" feature and we noticed immediately that our last cup tasted just as fresh as our first cup. The temperature was even roughly the same, my last cup wasn't scalding hot from being left on the element for so long. OF course, it has what I would consider typical features like a clock, timer and a strong brew option. There are several things to note: 1) When this thing is brewing, it will release a lot of steam from the top. So make sure you don't leave it under your cabinets, we have it on a sliding platform that we can pull out and push in. That way, we don't run the risk of damaging the wood in our cabinets or the lighting underneath them and can push the coffee machine back when the brewing is done. 2) The coffee filters you'll need are the cone shaped ones - we had some of the regular ones and when I tried to use them (because my wife put the cone ones up somewhere I couldn't find them) there were some grounds that I found in the coffee. There's worse things you can spend $160 on - and for my wife and I, this was the perfect fit for what we needed. We can each get 2 cups of coffee per 10-cups in the carafe and that's just fine with us. We love this coffee machine!

There was a time when the convenience of a quick single serving coffee maker seemed like the preferable choice. However, as our family matured, we found ourselves needing 7 cups of coffee during the breakfast rush, instead of 2. After looking at the available coffee makers that had the features we wanted, we settled on the Calphalon Special Brew 10 Cup Coffee Maker. FEATURES: - Precision Brewing Temperature delivers repeatable flavorful coffee - Delay Brewing lets you have a carafe of coffee waiting for you when you get up. - Premium Boiling system and temperature control meet SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) guidelines for brewing coffee that meets their “Golden Cup Standard”. - Pressing the clock button briefly shows how long ago the batch of coffee was brewed to indicate freshness. - For a stronger start to the day, a single press of the “Strong Brew” button will raise the level of flavor and caffeine for that one brewing session. - A backlit programmable LCD display controls all features and gives time of day. - Side view water reservoir level indicator. - 3-year limited warranty. PROS: - Attractive styling looks good on the counter. - Simple controls allow different repeatable flavor and strength. - The temperature control on the ceramic heater base does not burn the coffee in a near empty pot. It turns completely off after 4 hours. CONS: - Some have commented that the lower temperature ceramic heater base does not keep the coffee hot enough. However, properly brewed coffee should not be made with boiling water and keeping brewed coffee at tongue scalding temperatures will ruin the taste quickly. It’s a matter of “taste”. However, if you want coffee brewed hot enough to be drinkable from a thermos after a 45 minute commute, the Calphalon Special Brew 10 Cup Coffee Maker might not be for you. - A relatively short power cord (25 inches) is fine if you have a counter outlet nearby, but be careful if you need an extension cord. Common household 4 to 5 foot two wire extension cords are too light and will overheat. A more robust 15 amp extension cord would be safe if one is needed. - Water is added through the top rear of the machine. This can be awkward if the coffee maker is located under a low cupboard overhang. CONCLUSION: The Calphalon Special Brew 10 Cup Coffee Maker looks good on the counter. It matches both stainless steel and black appliances. It just happens to brew great tasting coffee too.

The Calphalon 10-Cup Special Brew Coffee Maker arrived just in time a few days before Thanksgiving and we couldn’t have been happier. It certainly got used and everyone enjoyed every last drop of coffee. Before commenting further on the quality/taste of the coffee, I have to give props in regards to the amazing craftsmanship of the build quality of the coffee maker. The dark stainless steel and sleek minimalistic design makes it stand out from others. It’s large in size, but blends in well with other small appliances in the kitchen and fits nicely under top cabinetry. On top of the coffee maker, you can open up the flap where you pour the water into reservoir. On the side are the 3 buttons that allows you to set for Brew Later, STRONG, or BREW ON/OFF. Above the buttons is a digital display that shows the current time, and/or allows you to set your timer for your coffee to brew at a later time. On the back side is a cord storage compartment. Brewing coffee is pretty self-explanatory for most coffee enthusiasts. However, this coffee maker comes with some guidelines to follow to keep accidental overflows from occurring. Now onto how this thing rocks. This coffee maker took about 5 to 6 minutes to brew a fresh pot of piping hot coffee. Now, Calphalon claims that the “Premium Boiling System,” extracts up to 20% more flavor. I can definitively say that using a standard coffee maker and using this coffee maker at the same time I could tell a bit of a difference in the flavor between the 2 machines. Another great feature I love but haven’t really been able to test yet is that the warming plate keeps your coffee warm for 4 hours. However, due to the coffee being gobbled up pretty quickly, I’ve been unable to fully test that feature yet. I would strongly recommend anyone looking for a nice great coffee maker to looking into the Calphalon 10-Cup Special Brew Coffee Maker. You will be able to taste the difference and it comes with a set of features all wrapped around in a sleek and minimalistic design. It’s BREW good and it TASTES good.

Solid, simple brewer w/a head-scratching price...

Before any pros/cons; this is a really good coffee brewer. It is built well, looks/feels like it will last awhile, and has a solid 3 year warranty behind it just in case it doesn't. Having said that, for ~$160 it doesn't feel *that* nice and it doesn't have *any* options or crazy brew methods to warrant said price. Even though the dark stainless steel appears quality, it is nowhere near $160 quality for being nothing more than a simple on/off brewer. This is a 5-star coffee maker at $50-$75, so add 1-star to my 3-star overall for every ~$50 off of the full price MSRP. Considering that $160 *is* the new price point (I recall seeing this unit for over $200 when it first came out) I can only hope Calphalon will continue to bring the price down until they get an updated model to market. Pros: - Fast brew (10-15 minutes for a full pot) - Build quality - Warranty (nice as a 'just in case' if that aforementioned "pro" ever comes into question) - Heat/Strength of brew Con: - Basic options/features considering price - 10-cup pot is kind of humorous (again) given the price and size of the unit itself. The footprint of the unit dwarfs the pot. - If you are standing very close to the buttons they are hard to red/see if they are active (illuminated). As you back away they are much easier to see, but when standing right next to it getting a pot ready I kept finding myself having to back up to get a better viewing angle. - Seriously, the price alone is enough to keep me from recommending this to anyone

I will make this simple. I do not care about bells & whistles. I do not care about timers and gimmicks and built in grinders or anything that significantly adds complexity to a coffee maker. I have owned 3 Bunn machines, Cuisinart, Braun and plenty of less expensive units over the years. If this thing lasts and the performance remains steady, I will consider it the best drip coffee machine I have ever owned. It makes HOT coffee and it brews QUICKLY. It produces wonderful AROMA. It is wonderfully SIMPLE. It looks BEAUTIFUL (which I don't care about but my wife does). It makes delicious coffee. No charcoal water filters to change, no idiot lights halting operation to demand cleaning. Just simple cleaning instructions included in the user guide suggesting you clean it at appropriate intervals - with water & vinegar. Of course if you use crappy water and crappy coffee, no machine will work for you. Garbage in, garbage out. That being said, this thing makes GREAT COFFEE, appropriately HOT & it does it quickly. It is EASY to pour water into the tank, EASY to open the basket housing, EASY to clean, the carafe is sturdy, dripless and high quality, the warming plate maintains the coffee temperature without burning the coffee. I see lot's to like here and nothing to dislike. It is worth the $99 I paid and I highly recommend.

I'm liking the results with this coffee maker. It's making a nice and hot cup of coffee and it's flavored well. I was happy to enjoy the comfort of a hot cup of joe and pleased to get a nice bold flavor from it. I know this coffee maker has a claim of 20% more flavor extracted in it, but I'm not sure if that's picked up by my taste buds. I've got an old Krups coffee maker and I felt that made a good cup of coffee and it had decent flavor as well. Overall the look of this coffee maker is pretty classy and elegant. The styling of the Dark Stainless Steel is something different compared to the usual black or stainless steel looks I've gotten used to. This particular look by Calpahlon looks sharp and will get noticed if you want to have a talking piece on your kitchen counter. I'm disappointed by the size of this coffee maker though. It's a tad too big and tall. I get it, Calphalon wants to make a bold and big look to make it noticeable and bold. Unfortunately for me, I had a hard time keeping this under my kitchen cabinets. Partly my own issue with having odd cabinets, but this unit seems overly sized. Words of wisdom, this uses a cone 4 filter. I would think at this price point, the manufacturer would have just made it a washable filter that doesn't require using daily paper filters. Overall, I liked this coffee maker and I think it makes good coffee. I just feel like it's a high price point for a decent coffee maker. Well played by Calphalon as I feel this can make a good looking unit to display on a kitchen counter and make good coffee.

The Calphalon brewer was a little bit of a change for me as I have been using cup base brewers for some time now. The machine can brew up to ten cups of coffee, great for if you have anyone over or you just love your coffee! This does use a cone style filter and has about 5 included to get you started. The machine has a nice LCD screen that displays the time. You have Three buttons, Timer - Strong - Brew/Warm (each doing pretty much what they say) with their own indicator lights so you know which are set. Timer allows you to set a time for it to automatically brew. Strong brews a little more bold, giving you a stronger coffee. Brew/Warm with start the brewing process, when it's done it will stay lit telling you the plate is still on keeping your coffee heated, you can simply press the button to shut it off whenever you want to turn it off. The design of the brewer is nice, fits in with our appliances in the house, main complaint for myself at this time is the size of the brewer, it is fairly tall. In our house the cabinets are slightly lower than standard (to accommodate the previous owner) and this brewer barely site under them, I have to move it out each time I want to fill the water reservoir since it sits on the top left hand side of the machine. Overall it's a good machine, I could see this as a great option for an office (if you prefer a traditional brewer) that is capable of brewing large pots of coffee for your staff.

It has a LCD display with 3 buttons for easy access. It has a 4 hr warming feature to keep the brewed coffee hot and also delayed brew function. I didn't see any burn marks (very common on low end models that has heater plate at the bottom) on my carafe, . It took about 45 seconds to start dispensing coffee from the time I hit the brew button. I did see a difference when I used the "strong brew" option on it, which I like very much. I used freshly ground flavored beans and I noticed the strong flavor in my coffee with this brewer. Just one con on this brewer, it has all its access buttons and display to the left of the brewer. Also, the coffee basket slides to the left, so it will take some counter space to have it placed sideways. This is my first Caphalon product that I used and I did see some difference (from 12 days of use) in the coffee brew strength compared to the ones I owned previously, but it definitely falls on the higher end in terms of the price (hence 4 star) for a coffee brewer. I does have good aesthetics and blends well with the stainless steel appliances I have in my kitchen

My last coffee maker was a run of the mill maker that never made the right strength of coffee. It was either watery or super strong. I am not a couple of weeks into using this machine and can confidently say that this produces consistently. When it comes down to it the quality of this maker lies in 2 areas consistency and the physical build of the device. As I mentioned earlier, the strength of the coffee is very predictable, which is a good thing. I followed the direction on the instructions and have yet to have a bad pot. Secondly, the design and build is outstanding. Its sturdy and very pretty on the eyes. It also has some neat features, such as timed brew and a button which makes "stronger" coffee. All in all, this consistent sturdy coffee maker is one that is sure to last and worth every penny!

I've owned and tried a lot of coffee machines. This one is really special. First, it looks really elegant and gives premium look where installed. Brewing coffee with this machine is kind of special! You have the function of slow brew to get a very concentrated coffee or at least get all the flavor from the coffee. They claim it is up to 20 percent more flavor, I can tell, it is more than that. It works very quite, the coffee stays very warm for long time and keeps tasting fresh. It has all the essential features any coffee machine should have (timer, delay start and so)... It also has a comprehensive cycle display explaining what is going on at each step. Easy to clean and good for every time use. The only down side about this coffee maker (in my kitchen) is the short electric wire... I would appreciate it to be couple inches longer. Coffee lovers would love this machine for sure... We are replacing a K-cup machine with this one. It is cleaner and more nature friendly.. Less plastic waste...

It’s difficult to get excited about a drip coffeemaker these days. You can buy manual pour overs or go to the other extreme and buy highly automated coffee+espresso makers for great quality coffee. Yet, there are plenty of people who are perfectly satisfied to have 10-12 cups of “just” coffee. Now, why select the Calphalon Special Brew? Sure, it makes decent tasting coffee in a nice looking package. The real reasons are some cool features you don’t get with manual pour-overs and nifty coffee/espresso machines: 1- Timer that tracks how old the coffee is 2- Control of coffee strength 3- Warmer timer 4- “Precise” temperature water boiling system ensures consistency If you make a lot of coffee for several drinkers or if you’re an all-day drinker this is a great machine.

You say, this is just a coffee maker. But it isn't. It is the best cup of brewed coffee I can ever remember making at home. I have to think the hype around the perfect temperature is really a thing, because it does taste great! I've been using a different brewer when making brewed coffee, so I decided to do a comparison. The Calphalon wins in a blind taste test with myself, but some others I've asked to sample multiple methods including K-Cup, and a couple of different brewers. The little things, that are big things, like a timer showing how long since brewed, are not lost on me. I cannot tell you how many times I've asked family or co-workers, how long the coffee had been sitting, only to hear "I just made that".....but it was 3 hours before. Coffee from this brewer should be enjoyed right after brewing, but if you forget, it will shut off after 4 hours. The taste of the coffee is truly different, in a better way with this brewer vs. others, and vs. a K-cup brewer.

    Makes Coffee

After what seems like twenty years my wife caved in and finally decided to get a new coffee machine. Surprise, the new machine makes coffee, too. Easy transition to the new machine and it fits it about the same space as the old machine. The stainless look fits in perfectly for our kitchen. Wasn't aware Calphalon did coffee pots before seeing this one. Definitely like their pots and pans. No disappointment here with the brand. For the price you get a few more features than just making coffee. You can adjust strength and supposedly get more flavor from each brew. Stilll trying to discern the latter. The delayed brew is also a nice feature to have. Whether its worth the extra price for the extra features... I don't know. I'm not convinced yet. Will have to see if machine lasts as long if not longer than the last machine.

Good Coffee After a Few Brews

Overall, this coffeemaker looks great and can brew some pretty good coffee. Some features that are pretty nice are the delayed brewing and the "strong" brew option, which actually brews strong coffee. Set-up is also pretty easy and the coffee pot and filter themselves are very easy to clean. However, it is a "medium size" coffeemaker being that it can only brew 10 cups, where I am accustomed to having coffeemakers that brew 12-14 cups. Also, it did take brewing coffee 3 times before it began tasting pretty good. This was after following the instructions and cycling water through the system. Bottom line: I would say that I would hesitate recommending this product to a friend due to quality of this coffeemaker's brewing ability. However, it does look really, really nice.

Does it matter whether an appliance looks good? In my opinion, not really, as I care significantly more about whether it does its job well. Luckily, this machine looks as good in our kitchen as the coffee it produces. Disclaimer, yes it’s still a drip system so if you’re wanting to extract full flavor without distractions then you should probably invest in a chem-x or other glass system. That said, an automated machine is much more convenient when you’re trying to get ready for work. I started with the typical brands at budget prices and after trial and error learned the hard way that it’s better to just invest in a better machine in the front end. Can’t go wrong with this one.

As an avid coffee drinker, I was elated to start using this coffee maker. However, while nice to look at and it makes piping hot coffee swiftly with a warmer that keeps it hot up to 4-hours, it doesn’t justify the price point in my opinion. My present coffee maker, while useful doesn’t have the best warmer. When drinking my first cup of coffee it tasted good. My sister loves Starbuck’s special blend coffees that are available for holidays, so we tried some on this coffee maker and the taste was good. If you’re a coffee drinker and you want to experience that premium coffee tasting experience, this is definitely the unit for you!

    SHORT POWER CORD LIMITS USE

While the coffee maker itself is pretty respectable the short power cord makes it all but useless for my desired need. Where hoping to match it with a Calphalon blender I find myself unable to place it in such a way both appliances would fit on the desired table and reach the wall outlet at the same time which is fairly close to begin with. Sorry Calphalon … While your cookware is top shelf … You fell short on this one.
