Except for weight it’s like having several lens in one package plus it comes from Canon Professional Series and the results are spectacular. Pricey yes but had I known about this model I could have gotten by with just this lens and saved buying and additional lens. I love it.

I have now own my 28-300mm for a few weeks and have taken several hundred photos with it. Its optical quality is outstanding, the AutoFocus is extremely fast and has no problems acquiring fast moving subjects and holding them in focus (AI Servo) Though the lens is a little heavy I really don’t find it to horrible, though some might. Because of its versatility (28-300mm) it is the perfect One lens for vacation, and walk abouts. The lens is a push/pull type to change focal length. At first I thought it might be difficult to get use to but within minutes I got the hang of it and now I actually prefer it over the turn type.
Pros; excellent image quality, Extremely versatile 28-300mm, fast Auto focus, quick push/pull zooming.
Cons; weight.
This lens has quickly become my favorite lens, and is all but permanently mounted on my 5D Mark IV.

This Canon EF 28–300mm f/3.5–5.6L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens is what I dreamed . This high-performance L-series zoom lens will be quickly for a variety of shooting situations. The wide zoom range and push-pull zoom design lets me go from wide angle to telephoto almost instantly. Plus, a UD-glass lens element and image stabilization technology ensure beautiful optical quality. It is too heavy but gives us perfect photographic experience.

An all around lens that gives you a lot of options when taking pictures.
However it is on the heavy side and was not able to get used to the zoom feature by pulling and pushing the lens instead of rotating.
