I love how close I can get from the seats at my child's sports events. I can't wait to get outside and get awesome bird pictures. This is just what I was missing. I wish we would have bought this lens when we bought the camera.

I took this lens out of the box and attached it to my Canon 60D. The images were clear and sharp for a lens at this price point. The stabilization feature performed well while taking hand held pictures at all ranges. The auto focus on this lens was a bit off for me I favored the manual setting.

Great zoom lens with stability control. It's weight may be heavier than the less expensive EF & EFS versions, but it's speed, clarity and versatility more than make up for the weight.

I was really happy with the lens and the price - I ordered online and picked it up in the store, avoiding and lines at checkout. Canon makes a great product and has a warranty, so I feel safe about dropping cash on the lens. It's got a great zoom on it, and the IS and AF work well with my Eos XT. I don't know the impact on battery life yet, but I think the autofocus will have limited effect... maybe bring a spare battery if it becomes an issue.

WOW the images are very impressive. I wasn shooting in a theater with only the work lights on from the middle of the audience section and a canon 400 series flash and the images are far better then with the same lens and IS turned off. You will have to learn to use any equipment you buy but the learning curve on this was easy and the results are IMPRESSIVE.
If you need a great portrait lens you have found it, if you need a good bird lens you have found it.

I have been around other photographers who spent $3000 and $4000 on their lens. I think the quality with this one is excellent and I'm pleased with the outcome. The only negative I see is the weight of the lens.

Great lens with auto and manual focus options. Mostly use it for taking shots at the school of the plays and performances. Allows you to get in tight even when at a far distance rows back. Video performance is muddled as if using autofocus, you can hear the whirring of the small rotors as the lens is constantly adjusted. Otherwise, a great purchase.

I bought this lens for its versatility as I needed something to use with my new to me but used MarkII. It works great for a wide variety of photos - from weddings to a single flower in my garden. I recently took it on a bumpy Wisconsin Dells Ducks tour and 98% of my photos were crisp and sharp.

This is just what I needed. I shoot a lot of wildlife and nature. This lens is not the quietest but not extremely loud either. Love the IS, I have used a tripod once for a long shot with long exposure. Photos turned out beautiful. Would definitely refer to anyone that needs a great zoom at a reasonable price.

This lens allows you to capture exceptional outdoor photography. I bought this to make wildlife safari videos and capture photos in the great outdoors. Its ability to pull animals right up to you for quality shots is awesome.

This is a great camera for longer distances. The only issue for me it is that the f-stop doesn't go lower.

For the price, this is a great piece of glass. Lens aberration can be a real challenge when it goes above 200mm. This lens handles it pretty well and with the two modes of stabilization, its almost perfect. The lens lock is also very useful as these types of lenses do tend to get heavy and will slide forward when carried if not locked. It would be nice to have a lighter version. Don't get me wrong it is already pretty light. But as I take this on hikes, it certainly starts to weight. Overall, great lens for its price range.
