This is a GREAT lens, even at 11 pounds provided you have a tripod or if you get the lens with built in image stabilization. Wonderful for sporting events and wildlife photography, and provides good crisp pictures. I prefer to use a vertical polarized lens which makes the pictures even better over a distance, and helps with keeping the unwanted weather elements out of my action shots. I would recommend this lens if you are going to use it enough for it to pay for itself. Otherwise, just stick with a good 100-300 lens and keep your costs down, but results high.
