I was excited to get this lens after a week of waiting for my order. Looks great out of the box so I was ready to connect and start shooting. I should have known this lens would be a problem when right away as I connected it to my T3i it was so tight I could barely rotate it to set it in place. With that aside I was ready to go outside and start taking photos of my garden. I set this lens to AF and went to take my first photo of the center of my sunflowers. AF would focus for a split second but could not lock focus on a specific point and kept bouncing back a fourth making every photo I attempted to shoot unclear. I decided to switch to MF and see what kind of photo I could get despite this. All I can say is terrible. I realize this lens doesn't have IS but it is supposed to lock focus when holding the shutter half way down. The slightest gust of wind made every photo blurry and unusable! The final straw was when i attempted to MF the lens, the focus ring didnt have a stop point!!!! It rotated infinity to the left and right which puts the lens out of a focus point that even the AF cant bring it back to normal. If you plan on doing macro inside while using a tripod then this lens may not be so bad, but if you want to do macro outside with objects that may slightly move I would recommend buying one of the others with IS. 85mm or 100mm I believe have them. They cost more but the ease of use well exceeds the cost. I realize that I may have just gotten a bum lens but for $400+ I don't think a lens should be built that poor.
