    Best Camera Ever!

I have several cameras including other Canons. This one is the best. The pictures are excellent, videos are the quality of one taken with a Camcorder. The pictures taken in the natural light are excellent, taking pictures in the dark with the feature chosen to do so turn out excellent; Macro feature is also excellent, the Scene Mode Choices are excellent. Easy to use; has face detection and image stabilization; Canon thought of everything with this small but powerful camera; I can't say enough good things about the camera. Canon excelled with this one in quality in every way; has a stainless steel body. Best Buy offers good products at good prices, customer service is excellent. Free shipping and extras offered are always a good thing.

    Nice, Clean photos

I am so happy I have this camera. The pictures it takes are so clear and detailed, that it can almost be mistaken for a picture taken with an SLR. Its macro mode is great for people interested in artistic photography, and its auto mode takes great snapshots of friends and family. I highly recommend learning how to use the manual mode. It's very easy, and gives you a better chance of getting crisp, memorable photos. Its color accent and color swap modes bring a lot of fun; you are able to have a black and white photo with one thing in color, like a red dress or a pink flower. Or with color swap have everything that's supposed to be white be blue. My favorite mode is the Macro mode. I took a picture of my puppy up close and it came out so great! A GREAT great camera. Turned me from a Nikon enthusiast to a Cannon lover.

    Uber better than Sony Cyber-shot!

My Sony Cyber-shot just did not match up to this Canon in more ways. For under $200, this camera is an amazing value! The quality of a Canon can't be beat. When my friends from Japan visit me, they all carry Canon. They say it's the number one camera in Japan over Sony, and I now see why. Tottemo sugoi desu nee! Seriously, do not waste your money on a Sony camera. Buy a Canon instead.

I bought this camera in hopes of a nice digital, that was not as pricey as my SLR. Personally i found this camera easy to use, and more then surprised by how pretty all of my pictures turned out. Its enjoyable to look over my pictures on the computer and see the true colors pop out. Canon makes a great camera and I would recommend this camera to anyone that is looking to buying it.

this product is great for any picture, or video that u are taking of. you also could upload a ton of pictures on your computer. the memory, you have to get a amount of memory so you can take a large amount of pictures, or videos. but sometimes you have to delete some of the pictures so you have enough memery.

    WOW!!!!!

I have had this camera for two months now and have taken 80 pictures. I LOVE IT!!! I still cannot believe the quality of the pictures this little wonder produces. This is my first digital camera - I had (well, still have - now packed away in a box!) a Canon AE-1 with several lenses, a handy Olympus point-and-shoot model and a Polaroid. I happened to see a "Best Digital Cameras" article in PC Magazine last summer and this SD1100 was named one of the best values. I made a note of the model number for the future when I decided to join the digital world. I am on the road all day for work and wanted a small digital to always have in the truck so I could snap things of interest - wildlife, architecture, scenic views, etc. - that I see. This is perfect for that. I've snapped hawks in flight and perched, deer, trotting foxes, bridges, street views and wide-angle views of countryside from a hilltop. The zoom function does more than I ever expected. The manual is very well written. There is a section of "basics" up front that will get you started taking pictures pretty much right out of the box. It can do many "special effects" things that I have no interest in using but they are explained concisely. Even now you can get instruction manuals with electronics that are written by people who do not speak English and the instructions are hopeless - not here. Everything is fully illustrated, too, so you understand what all the displays mean. I did take the advice of another reviewer and got an Ultra Fast 8 gig card right off. The book does say that you need a much better card than the one that comes with it to do a lot of the special tricks it is capable of doing. With the fast card, it does the basic snapshots I need like a regular film camera - very quick, reliable focusing and able to handle moving subjects with aplomb It is heavy for its size. I am still getting used to that. (The AE-1 with a long lens weighs a ton but it's so big, you expect it to be heavy. This is 'unexpectedly' heavy.) I'm still getting comfortable holding it - I'm afraid I'm going to drop it. I feel like I won't have a good enough grip on it. I guess this is the only "negative" thing about it. The only way to get past this is to work with it more. Also, the viewfinder is so small it's useless - you will use only the LCD screen to compose your shots. (And it is big and bright.) I had to get a new computer in October. I chose an HP "Media Center" because I expected that I would get a digital camera sooner or later. I just pop the card out of the camera and into the SD card slot on the front of the computer and the Windows software all but imports the pictures itself. It's a breeze. I can also pop the card into the SD slot on my PhotoSmart printer and select pictures and print directly from the printer. One thing I do intend to do is make a slideshow of my snaps to put on a flashdrive, which I can slip into the USB port on the DVD player and see on the TV. When I bought the camera, for a few dollars more, it was bundled with a case (I suggest getting one to protect the LCD screen), an extra battery (I have taken the 80 snaps and had it on to learn how to use it and fool around with different settings and it is still running on the original charge but this is a good thing to have.) and a 4 gig card, which was a significant upgrade from the one it comes with. I carry the 4 gig as a back-up.

    Wide range of freatures

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First off, this camera practically does everything. The only feature it really lacks is the ability to shoot in HD (like some Kodaks and Sonys) or film "Youtube ready" (like some Casios) movies. Neither feature is a huge loss for me. Right out of the box, it's very snappy and ready to shoot practically anything. Indoor flash is a bit exessive sometimes, but no worse than some older Kodak and Olympus cameras I've owned. I bought the camera because of two features: Continuous mode and panoramic mode. Try finding both on a camera in this price range and you'll be left with few choices. The continuous mode is great for shooting your kids sports games. Unlike other cameras that only shoot a couple of pictures per burst, the continuous mode will literally fill the memory card with continuous shots if you hold down the button long enough. It shoot about 2 shots every 3 seconds (1.3 fps). Panoramic mode is great for wide open shots of cityscapes and mountain views. It has a nice size. It's "big" for a slim camera, but it's still smaller than my wife's PDA phone so keeping it in your pocket isn't a problem. Also, it's very sturdy (unlike other cameras in this price range) so you won't have to worry so much about damaging it if it's in your pocket. Oh yeah, it uses SD memory. This is a good things since SD cards are cheap. Sonys use their own MemoryStick memory, which is grossly expensive. You probably won't need a 50x or 133x speed SD card to shoot in continuous mode. I can do it fine with the free Kingston 2GB card that came with it (as a promotion). As long as the card can write 4MB/sec or more, you'll be fine. The bad: The battery. Battery life is good, but if you want to carry a spare you'll be shelling out $40+ for a replacement battery. The image quality is good, not great so it's not really a "bad".... just something that's not as good as all the other features. It's still better than any Kodak in this price range, but maybe not quite as good as a Fuji, Olympus, or Samsung in the same price range. At normal settings it's fine, but you'll notice a lot of picture noise in lower ISO settings. All in all, I'm VERY happy with the camera and would most likely buy another for a family member as a gift (like my wife, who is now green with envy). It's a good camera (picture-wise) with a ton of VERY GOOD features. This camera isn't prefect, but it's pretty close.

    Excellent pocket camera

Great little pocket camera. Had it with me on a recent trip to Chicago, didn't have my SLR with me. I took a couple architectural tours, one during noon and a very sunny day from the water. I had nothing to prevent direct sunlight from hitting the camera and expected completely washed out shots, I was mistaken. The shots turned out great considering the light. I love the size of this little bad boy, I wanted something to take with me I could pop in my front pocket. It is perfect, face detection rocks since I am obviously using this mostly for candids with the dSLR doing the landscapes and fancier shots. It has some fun extra shot options that are fun to play with like color acquire, grabbing 1 to 4 colors you select and shooting the rest in black and white. It also can be set to do this shot and regular color settings with the same shot. Nice. My only complaint is mild noise in low light and its slowness between shots and after startup. Low light noise is definitely expected for a camera this size, a lens this small just isn't pulling in great light when low. And speed, I saw some other small cameras were faster, but the color clarity and great shots were just too good from the Canon.

    REALLY freakin' nice camera

I actually had the Digital Elph SD750, but I let it go off the website before writing a review. Anyway, I really enjoyed the features such as color swap and color accent. The fast frame video recording is of excellent quality, all of the functions work well in low lighting. Picture quality is really good and sharp as well. This camera lets you control alot of the functions such as white balance, Macro and ISO, which is like greek to the amateur photographer. Not having a basic knowledge of these functions and trying to adjust them can be frustating until you get the swing of things. Each different shooting mode has a different menu with different options. Also, the editing software is kinda wacky until you get used to it. I suggest keeping the "Advanced User Guide" on hand at all times. And the LCD screen is really sensitive. After having mine for 5 months, it developed a black shadowy spot on the LCD screen that wouldn't go away. The Geek squad said it was "pressure point," and i had to send it for repairs. My camera is always in a case, so i don't know how that happened. But anyway, The camera does a LOT of things and is an excellent value for the price. I love my mine, and take it everywhere!

    One of the BEST cameras!

I had a cannon powershot 450 for 3 years and it was my life. I had accidentally dropped my camera and it froze, I was devastated and was determine to get it fix. When I brought it to Best buy the customer service suggested that it would be wiser to buy a new one since all the new even cheap brands were better then the one I had. I was very reluctant and went home to do some research. I had a hard time parting from it until my boyfriend surprised me with a brand new Cannon powershot sd1100is. I was amazed at the quickness of taking pictures was, and was able to catch action pictures unlike my 450 which hesitated. The pictures itself were extremely vivid and clear, you could see everything perfectly, and not to mention the controls and functions were easy to use. Overall I thought I would never say it but this camera is far better then my 450 and doesn't leave my side! I highly suggest this camera to everyone and have recently bought my mom one, and convinced my sister to get one too... both agree that it is not only the best functioning camera but it is sleek and small which can be easily stashed in a purse when going out.

We bought this camera after our last one (a pentax 7mp) was lost. We have a two year old that is fast and with our old camera she always seems to be some blur in the corner of the shot, but with this camera, it always seems to get her crisp, clear and bright. Recently, we took a car trip through a remote part of the desert. My wife was snapping away at passing scenery and the pictures looked like we had stopped and gotten out of the car. Aso, the battery just does not seem to quit. a couple hundred pictures with flash, movies, etc. and it still didn't need a charge. I finally just charged it. Only minor qualms include a sometimes too bright flash that has a tendency to wash people out and the zoom is a little too short. This is the fourth digital camera we've had. It is by far the best of the bunch and best value.

    Best Little Camera/Best COLOR

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is one of a dozen different Canon PowerShot camera models that I own or have owned, and is by far the most superior of all. Adding the Image Stabilizer to this model puts it in league with its bigger, more expensive cameras, yet stays at its wonderfully compact size with extensive features. This 1100IS model also allows a larger-sized SD card than the previous Canon 1000SD, which allows for greatly lengthened shoot times before having to change SD cards or whichever of several different memory cards of your choice. The continuous shooting mode works great, especially when used without the flash, which does slow it down a bit. The manual setting allows you to create all imaginable photographic effects of the "big" cameras, as you can alter the shutter speed, the flash intensity, etc. to get those spectacular photographs. I would continue to purchase this camera, as I try my hardest to wear it out with constant use. It's holding up very well!

I love this camera. I got it for $150 when it was sale. The durability of the camera is great. Does not feel cheap or "plastic-y". The size of the camera is nice and compact. You can definitely put the camera in a pocket. The pictures are amazingly clear. I especially like the color accent option. Takes very cool pictures. Although this is in most canon cameras, I still think it deserves some praise. The LCD screen is 2.5". I wish it was a little bigger (maybe like 3.0" like the Canon SD750), but it my personal preference. I was a casio camera owner and my sister was a canon camera owner, and I will never go back. I regret buying my casio. I applaud Canon for their great cameras.

I bought this camera at Walmart when I was back in the states. Had it for a few months and took it everywhere with me. Took a lot of great pictures and videos. Pulled it out of my pocket one day, went to switch it to the video selection, and the selector was broken off inside the camera. The selector was still attached to the camera, but it was broken so that you couldn't select picture or video, it would just slide up and down. I have no idea what would have caused this because I took very good care of it. It was the first camera I ever bought and the picture quality was great and the video quality was also good. I am thinking about buying another one, but the selector issue keeps coming back to me. Maybe if they had a dial or button selections for video/picture it would be an easier decision to make. Other than the selector being a piece of S, everything else with this camera is top notch.

Although I've seen cameras with additional features not included on the PowerShot, most of those features aren't necessary anyway so I love this camera. I have an earlier version with fewer megapixels but the picture quality is still quite good. If you're the type of person that likes to take pictures with family & friends when you go out, it's slim enough to comfortably fit in your pocket. I've had my PowerShot for a couple years and even though I use it constantly I've never had a problem with it. A newer model can only mean higher quality and the price is very reasonable so it's worth every penny!

I owned an older model of the Canon Powershot, I forgot what model number exactly but something had happened to it. My daughter had her homecoming dance coming up and she needed a camera so I went out and bought this for her. I must say, it's a great camera for the price that I paid for it! I compared the two and Canon has changed their powershot cameras immensely. This camera is so easy to use and the screen is large! My daughter loves it and takes it everywhere with her. Buy it if you need a simple, easy, and great camera to use! I woudln't say it's the best camera ever but it comes pretty close!

A lot of Power in a little PowerShot

Other than a few small imperfections, this is a wonderful camera. Pretty easy to use and figure out for the average user. Meuns are easy to find and navigate thorugh to change settings and shooting modes. The camera is small in size and wieght, making it ideal to have on you no matter where you're going. Not too many chrome accents, which means less fingerprints show up... for me that's actually a plus. The shutter speed is rather fast for just a point-and-shoot, also the flash isn't too overbearing. Overall, this is a great camera for either an advanced user or beginner.

This is the best camera I have ever owned. The quality of the pictures is amazing! I would recommend the canon brand to everyone I know. I am so happy with the size of the camera, quality of pictures, the image stabilization, and all of the other features that come with the camera. You can voice record, record movies, you can crop pictures and do panoramic scenes, you can add special effects options to pictures taken at night! I am still learning how to use all of the options and having so much fun doing so. I love, love, love my Canon powershot digital camera!!!!!!!!!!!!
