Good simple camera

Feature Upgrade / Focus Downgrade

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.No amount of fresh new features can hide the fact that the focus system is absolutely broken. I’m not even going to get into the cool new features. Canon has a lot of sponsored YouTubers that can show that stuff off. My opinion is based on the reality of actually using the camera. And it hasn’t been good. That focus complaint is real. The touchscreen focus is hit or miss. But the face detect focus is broken. Sometimes the white box does seem to identify faces but it just wont focus. I know the common complaint is that a 2020 camera should have Dual Pixel autofocus built in, but the bigger problem to me is that this seems like a focus downgrade from the previous model. I really like this camera so I’m tempted to stick with it and hope that a firmware upgrade is on its way. But then again, this is Canon and I’m just not sure when/if they’ll actually address the problem.

Please visit the product support page for the G7X Mark III on the Canon website, usa.canon.com, for download instructions.

Great camera for vlogging and regular pictures!

Upgrade to our Point and Shoot lighter than DSLR
