This lens is incredible, especially for the price. The new RF glass is truly crisp. Yes, you can get cheaper EF lenses but trust me there is a quality difference just to step up the price a little bit. The chromatic aberration on this lens is a lot less than my previous lenses. It isn't perfect but it can handle a lot more. The focus is a bit slow and noisy, however, for portrait sessions, I haven't found this to be a negative factor.
With this being a budget lens on the RF line, I HIGHLY recommend picking it up. 90% of the time in my sessions this is the only lens I use. It is super versatile and lets you get up really close depending on what you are capturing.

Lightweight and quiet. Excellent for macro and video. Perfect for the R50. Decent for low light because of IS and wide aperature. This lens stays on my camera most of the time.
Great inexpensive small but fast wide angle Prime!

-Customizable ring on lens, like for ISO or aperture etc.
CON:
- Macro is only half life size (1:2 vs ;)
- Not professional L-lens

I can find no reason not to have it. Although it's cheap, but the image quality not cheap at all. It's so good. Very small size and light weight makes it a very good walk-around lens on your R body. The only downside of this lens is the focus speed when shooting video is a little bit slow and sometimes you can hear a little noise.

I love this little lens. It seems to work great in low light due to it's f1.8. 35 mm seems to me like a good size for natural looking photos like if you were just walking around. Sure, it isn't as great as some of the L lenses, but it is not $1,000's either. For the price, I am very happy with the performance of this lens. I am giving it a four star because I think that Canon could at least include a cheap hood for the lens. I did see some flaring in low light with bright lights around. A cheap lens hood seemed to fix that easily.

Great lens. It is important to note that this is my very first lens and I’m new to photography. However, simply from a viewers perspective this lens produces great stills. The build quality is solid. The aperture is great. Overall a great lens for all around use.

Great lens! If you’re using it for video, consider adjusting your camera’s autofocus settings to improve AF speed. As a macro lens, it can occasionally struggle to maintain video focus in challenging lighting conditions, such as backlit scenes. The image stabilizer performs exceptionally well, making it an excellent choice for handheld video work.

Great lens for the price. I took it to the local aquarium to get some low light shots and this is not a bad lens for the money. Video recording was good too! Highly recommend!

Amazing lens. This thing is crystal clear and at the right price. The Focal of 1.8 works great with low light and the built in IS really allows you to make quality content hand held.

This lens creates beautiful images, a little slow to focus but at a fraction of the price of other lenses it’s still a great buy. Super lightweight and ideal for daily use.

A beautiful light lens with a very low F-Stop. I just used it in multiple low-light situations on a trip. Especially in two museums with low light and tight spaces. Faster speeds also means increased detail.

Great prime lens. One thing about Canon lens they work and work well. I was able to use the lens at a Christmas party. The pictures are very good, great color and clarity

Initially, I was hesitant to buy this for my R7 due to the crop factor, however, I went against the grain and wont turn back. This lens is amazing for portrait photographers and is crisp and clear and the large aperature gives it that perfect background effect.

Great lens -- fun to use on the Canon RP with the manual focusing indicator bar on the screen in Live View. The depth-of-field grows significantly with small changes in distance-to-subject and aperture, so there's a learning curve, but it's actually kinda thrilling, having only ever used 100-105mm macro lenses, where the DOF is minimal. Lens is super-compact and has become my walk-around lens since I bought it!

I recently purchased the Canon RF35mm F1.8 Macro from Best Buy, and it has quickly become one of my favorite lenses for both daily photography and specialized macro work.
