I absolutely love this lens. 35mm is one of my favorite size lens to shoot in. Not full macro but is great to get started with macro photography.

I am very glad I bought this lens. Having optical image stabilization along with In body Stabilization on the R5, gives me a super stable shot or video all of the time. Having macro capability is simply a bonus. I use this lens for everything from street photography, landscape, video and everything else except portraits. For that I use the very comparable RF 85mm f/1.8 IS. They make a perfect pair of lenses.

This is my first RF lens since getting my canon EOS R back in February. I absolutely love it. This is a good lens for portraits as well. If you recently got this camera and want an RF lens but not ready to spend the 2k for the other lenses yet this is a good first lens.

Good lens, produces some really sharp, crisp images. Hard to focus at times and there seems to be a bit of a learning curve with it but still takes really good photos.

I absolutely love this lens. It is my go to travel lens along with my 50mm. Highly recommend this lens for any setup. This lens does great landscapes and can even double down as a portrait.

It’s ~$500. Today that’s bargain basement for a full frame lens. That being said, it produces good results, in certain conditions it gets great results. In a studio or a setting where you can control lighting you can create images almost indistinguishable from a $2000 lens. Only the most critical eye looking for minute soft focus will find fault. But, if you take a backlit shot or have a light source cast across the lens at near 90 degrees…. The flares and glare overwhelm it.
I bought the lens primarily for video on my R5 and gimble. The extremely light weight helps balance the camera compared to the 15-35mm beast. The focus motor is a little noisy but I don’t use the camera mic anyway. Autofocus is consistently good but not particularly fast.
I wish canon sold the lens with a hood, they are available separately from canon. I would say it’s an absolute must-have for this lens. Charge $550 and include it to save us waiting for shipping.
In summary, this lens is worth the money. Everyone should have a 35mm prime in their collection and this lightweight lens is a good option (the only 35mm RF option, thanks canon).
