Great lens with great portrait capabilities would definitely recommend if it’s your second lens and want portrait photos

No wonder they call it the nifty fifty, the lens is so clear and gives you exactly what you’re looking for , it’s also a good option if you are a beginner !

If you have the 35mm rf 1.8 there’s really no need for this lens to be honest. It’s so much near the same focal length as that lens. But for the price it’s worth the purchase. It depends on what you do if you feel like it’s worth it. Portrait work would be great!
However, I thought I would use this lens more but it just sits and collects dust in my camera bag.

Great for photoshoots that do not offer a lot of space to move around. This lens allows you to be closer to your subjects. The clarity is unmatched and creats lots of bokah!

I am a beginner photographer, and I chose this lens to be my first. It’s such an amazing lens and great for beginners. My photos look like I’ve been doing this for years!

Can't beat this lens for the price. Large aperture good for low light and subject isolation. 50mm focal length gives a natural perspective.
This lens is small and light but the optics are surprisingly good.

I was very excited when Canon announced this lens, as the original nifty 50 is one of the best lenses to own for canon systems. However, This lens falls short . Image quality is not bad, the size and weight are nice, but overall it doesn’t live up to its predecessor. The images didn’t seem to have the same ‘pop’ or “character” as the EF 50mm 1.8 did, and I ended up returning it and adapting my EF one instead. Maybe I just got a bad copy, but much like I said about the RF 85mm f2, it’s just a meh lens

Purchased this to pair with my R6. Just wanted to see how a native RF lens would work with the camera. I was using the adapter with my L lenses. This nifty 50 is insanely sharp and fast!! I wasn’t expecting these results for this price. It has me considering going all RF mounts at this point. But this lens. You won’t regret it!!

Greta for portrait photography if you’re not wanting to spend a whole lot, but still get that quality of a great portrait photo. Always an additional to add to the collection because it’s very versatile.
