Brand new to photography so I am not a pro but from what I have seen this lense works very well if you have decent lighting and even was able to take a nice photo of my wife's new mixer in the dark. Video seemed a bit less impressive becasue I don't have a steady hand just yet so there's that piece.
Manually mode defintely has been a smoother experience compared to auto, again I am new but the blur can be too aggressive when I was using auto so I have dabbled with some settings

This is a great lens. For the money I do not think you can beat it. If you consider that the L version of this lens I believe is 2,000 this is an awesome lens for under 200 bucks!!!! I took it out and took very sharp pics and with it being so light weight it made the Canon R5 i used it on a fun lightweight combo! It performed very well in low light.

I love it. There is no zoom (I didn't realize when I purchased it) but it is crazy the difference from my other lens. Raw photo is on the left and edited is on the right. Quality is 1000/10

I recently purchased my first camera in probably 25 years, a Canon EOS RP, and wanted to start with an affordable lens. This 50mm does an amazing job! Im most impressed by the portraits but since I'm not one to post pictures of my son I'll share some alternate photos instead. This little guy does great in low light and is very forgiving. Just buy one!

A very powerful lens, very professional go to lens. Absolutely amazing quality. Totally the best budget friendly lens. I find myself using this one more then my $1000 lens

Excellent lens for rf cameras, the quality of the images for the price is worth every penny, it’s very light and compact you wouldn’t notice it in your camera bag.

Used this lens with my r5. Worked well for what I needed which was an affordable lens to take pics of my 15 month old daughter. I’m a wildlife photographer and didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a piece of glass for family photos and this lens fit my needs perfectly.

The RF 50mm f/1.8 is a compact, lightweight, and affordable lens with excellent sharpness and beautiful background blur. Perfect for portraits, street photography, and low-light shots. It delivers great image quality and is a must-have for any photographer starting with RF lenses!

One of the best lenses I’ve used. For such a small and low cost lense you don’t expect the quality pictures it gives you. Will continue getting more canon lenses

This lens is compact, lightweight and offers exceptional image quality, the manufacture and materials feel of very good quality, I have tried it on the R8 and R5 and the quality is amazing, the autofocus control and the configurable ring of the RF series are perfect, it does not include the hood but it is a relatively cheap and indispensable accessory.

The good old NIFTY FIFTY. I took many portraits with this camera and it is just amazing. I am looking to get a 35mm next, but this handles all portrait jobs well.

Great lens to upgrade to after getting used to your kit lens. This lens is great for portrait photography and the aperture allows for lots of light to enter the sensor of your camera. Can’t recent to those looking for a cheap upgrade from their kit lens. Just keep in mind if you have a crop sensor camera to multiply the focal length by 1.6 which makes this approximately a 80mm lens.
