Fast, sharp and lightweight!
The decrease in size and weight moving to the RF series is stunning.
I will get every penny’s worth out of it.

Love this lens. Lighter and shorter than my older EF model and it fits into my camera bags much better. Highly recommend this lens for all professional photographers.

Amazing lens and shooting at 200mm and f/2.8 will get you blown out backgrounds on portraits like you wouldn’t believe! However, I don’t need that kind of reach often and shooting at 200mm makes it hard to communicate with subjects. But it’s a great lens and works great for events, and shooting at a distance where you can’t get close. I have concerns that the design might suck dust into the lens, but 6+ months of moderate use and no internal dust yet.

The lens is absolutely amazing. I have it on my camera body more than my RF 28-70. It’s light, compact, sharp, and looks great. Gave me an extra space in my bag now that I can place it standing up.
Only downfall is the lens tripod support gets in the way when zooming in and the turn of the zoom is a lot more than the old EF version.
Definitely recommend it, but had a bad experience with Best Buy and their shipping. Absolutely horrible... showed up in a box twice it’s size with very very little cushion. The lens box had to have been flying around inside during transport. Disappointed

My whole time favorite lens. Being a wedding photographer, glass is always important. The 70-200mm is my all time favorite lens. After making the switch to mirrorless I used my 70-200 EF for awhile, but the size and weight of it made me take the leap for the rf version. Being shorter and lighter than the ef version i am super glad i made the switch. Its not a cheap upgrade, but i am sure happy i made it.

Shockingly epensive, but absolutely worth it. I was reluctant to spend so much on one lens, even with a holiday discount, but I'm so glad I did. I've been using it about a month and I think it's my favorite lens purchase ever! I didn't think I'd like the extending barrel, but it's great. Saves space in the bag and locks in place if I choose. Comes with tripod collar but haven't really needed it, even in low light. Very impressive sharpness, as sharp as any prime I've tried. I had extremely high expectations when I ordered this lens, and I looked for a reason to not keep it. I can honestly say I couldn't find one! I've used the older EF 70-200 2.8s and I really liked them, but the RF blows them all away. All I can say is, get one if you can. If it stands the test of time like Canon's L line usually does, it's a worthwhile investment and lots of fun!

This is an awesome lens. I came from Nikon, tried this lens with my new R5, just amazing. I took this on my cruise trip to the Bahamas, onboard the ship every professional photographer was interested to know which lens this is and how small it is for a 70-200 range (mostly they have seen and used the EF version). It's every photographer's dream lens to own. Every photo that I have captured is crisp, sharp and the AF works flawlessly.

I was hesitant to buy this lens because it costs so much, but have been nothing but pleased with it. It is quick, it is crystal clear, and it has opened up all sorts of creative possibilities that I never was never even expecting. This lens stays on my camera about 2/3s of the time ever since I picked it up. I am more than happy with this lens, and I hope to have it for years to come.

A New Standard for Fast 70-200 Zooms

Having owned Canon, Nikon, and Sony’s 70-200 f2.8 variants, I’m quite satisfied that this sets a new standard to beat. It not only has great color and sharpness, but you can now fit it mounted to the body in a smaller bag. Smaller size means you’re going to want to take it with you. Some folks have reported a focus issue at Max zoom at MFD, but Canon already has a firmware fix in the works. This lens is a keeper.

Canon products are always high quality. I've come over from Nikon, which also has high quality gear. This RF 70-200 lens is the perfect complement to the R5. It's not as large as the EF version due to the fact that it does extend on zoom, not enclosed, but that really helps with the portability of the lens. One of the reasons many people enjoy mirrorless is to get rid of some of the size and weight. While you can't cheat quality glass, you can think outside the box to see what can be done to accommodate less weight. Canon accomplished this with the 70-200 2.8 RF glass. High quality, excellent performance and a smaller package without sacrificing image quality. Well done, Canon.
