A good computer, but a couple shortcomings.

This computer started with some problems; one minor and one serious. First, it did not come with an adapter which would allow hooking the video card up to a monitor with only a DVI input. So I had to go back to Best Buy and purchase an adapter for the monitor. A second, and more serious problem is the video card immediately heated to 84c when playing a game and would throttle to a lower speed. Unlike other computers that I own which have a fan in the side panel to help cool the video card, the side panel for this computer is solid, so there is no air flow. I had to take the side panel off in order to get the video card down in temperature so that it would perform correctly. I find this inexcusable for a computer that costs as much as this one did.

      Sailer,

Thank you for choosing this CLX SET! While we are glad that you find it to be a good computer, we apologize that your experience this far has not been 100% satisfactory.

First, if you have not done so already, we encourage you to contact our Friendly Customer Service Team, so that we may assist you. Please contact us at 855.490.2569, and reference Ticket #2719742.

As to a DVI adapter for the graphics card, just as video cables to connect to a display are typically acquired separately or with the display itself, so too normally, are adapters from one connection type to another. This is primarily due to different people having different needs, based on the display being used. One person might need a 6ft. HDMI cable, another a 10ft. DisplayPort cable, or as in this case, an adapter to a different port standard.

More importantly, with regards to the temperature of the video card, in testing this configuration prior to distribution, we found that the system temperatures did not exceed the operational thermal boundaries of the components. This of course presumes that air flow to the system is not restricted and that the environment is compatible, i.e., the system isn't too near a wall, in an enclosed space, etc., and the ambient room temperature is not above the mid 70's Fahrenheit, etc.

Although 84 degrees Celsius may seem too warm, the RTX 2080 Ti should be able to safely reach an upper thermal limit of 89 degrees Celsius, before throttling. We again encourage you to contact us, using the information above, so that we may diagnose and remedy the issue you have encountered.

Thank you again, Sailer, we look forward to helping you, and making your overall experience even better!
