This concert from Cornell University on May 8, 1977 has been rated by Deadheads and reviewers as possibly the best Greatful Dead concert of all time. They may be right. This is an excellent concert that has finally been released after 40 years. It does not disappoint. Every Deadhead is in Dead heaven. Highly recommended to the casual or curious Dead fans. True Deadheads have known about this concert for years and are GREATFUL that it has finally been released. ENJOY!

Cover label states "Holy Grail of all Dead Shows" or something like that. I disagree. There are a few Dick's Picks that I feel are better live recordings. The acoustics on this 3-CD set are fair compared to other recordings. Granted the year is 1977 and digital has not been accepted as an audio format. However Garcia's guitar is incredibly focused during this show. The set selection is interesting because the Dead play a number of solo Garcia tunes (Deal, Loser, They Love Each Other) and one from Bob Weir's Kingfish (Lazy Lightning). The discs don't contain the encore to the show, unless it is out of sequential order. Good to have this to add to the collection.

I've been looking forward to hearing this show since I saw it was getting released a couple of months ago. Cornell 77 does not disappoint! Great set list of classic Dead tracks, great sound quality, and released just in time for the beginning of summer. Perfect soundtrack to sit outside and feel the sun on your face. Enjoy!

In my opinion this is one of the Dead's greatest shows because Jerry plays phenomenal lead guitar at this show. Not one mistake. He's flying baby. Dead with Keith and Donna or Pigpen that's my favorite incarnation of the band. Brent Mydland? not so much, a bargain basement Michael McDonald. His songwriting sucked too.

I do not consider myself a huge fan, but I'm very interested in what this band is about. This album blew me away. Long 3 cd set, but totally worth it. The booklet that comes with the CD is very informative about what this live show is all about. I'm still not a Deadhead, but maybe a little closer.

In the realm of all things possible, choosing one definitive Grateful Dead concert is not a possibility. With that being said, Cornell 5/8/77 is near the top and is a must listen by Dead fans and Dead Heads alike.

This latest release of the highly coveted May '77 concerts is a must have for any DeadHead. This is by far, one of the best shows they ever performed. Grate recording, grate packaging...Grateful Dead.

This is the show we've all been waiting for. The greatest live Grateful Dead show of them all. True? Music is in the ear of the listener. It's very good. Glad to finally have an official release.

My boyfriend is a big Grateful Dead fan. I picked up a few CD's so I could become familiar with them. I am now a New Grateful Dead Fan!!! Great CD...

Finally on CD the legendary Cornell Grateful Dead concert considered by many Deadheads the best Dead concert. Excellent quality sound. Highly recommended.

I am recently interested in the Dead, but not a fanatic. Apparently the best live you can get by them. I wish the recording was a little more robust, but it is what it is. Good selection. I don't have the breadth of knowledge to compare to the tape traders, but not bad for starting point.

Cornell 77 is a legendary show. If you haven't heard of it you really don't know the Dead. Give it a listen and then a thousand more.

Ok, i'm a Deadhead and all their music is great, their rendition of El Paso is awesome (especially listening to it in El Paso!).

This is truly as legendary as expected and the packaging is tremendous. This performance clearly finds the band at their peak.

This is a great CD the sound quality is really good and there's some great tracks on it
