The length is about 5.8 inches long, longer than the drive bay space. As a result, the enclosure sticks out further back, about 1.5", but does not interfere or touch with anything. Bought this for a Crucial MX500 SSD.

Worked great and left room for ventilation as well. Getting more in the future in order to clean up my hard drive installs. Computer came with 2 satas replaced those with ssds, and added more drives as well. Now 6 ssd drives handle my data loads and tasks...
