I’m giving this one star review not to the product but to Best Buy itself consistently calling me by name that isn’t my name when I’ve changed my name multiple times and yet you still call me by the wrong name. It’s a little disrespectful Best Buy. You need to do better I’m done buying from you.
Sounds like your unit is faulty. If you're unable to now do an exchange with BestBuy, our team would be able to assist, directly on our site through the chat: help.corsair.com

Damages "old" PCs

The PSU does not come with a user manual or spare cable bag (PSU, cables, 4 screws, Zip-ties and Safety Disclaimer). When I installed the RM850e and turned on my spare PC the GPU (560ti) emitted a very loud coil whine that sounded just like a telegraph machine from five feet away. The GPU's 12V coils could barely handle the massive 12V rail ripple coming from the PSU. The motherboard (MSI 890FXA-GD70) LED code started to flicker on and off. I pulled the plug and tried another functional GPU (GT740) and it was even worse. I reinstalled the old Corsair 550W PSU, now both GPU's have damaged volt pots and coil whine at idle. When I returned the PSU, Bestbuy accepted it and gave me store credit ($130.81). Avoid this PSU. Do not use it for "old" PC's that NO NOT meet ATX 3.1 power standards or it will damage your computer.
This shouldn't damage any of your components whatsoever, at any time. Glad you were able to return the faulty unit.

Poorly designed power cables

I've used Corsair power supplies for many, many years. The power cables with this one are TERRIBLE. Forces you to use a million zip ties. I have an older 850x that has normal power cables. Very disappointed in the new cable design.

I bought it, but it wasn’t installed until three weeks later, and the unit didn’t turn on. They tested it, and it was dead. It took me another week to take it to the Best Buy store, and they told me I had 30 days to return it or exchange it, but it had already been 32 days, so I couldn’t return it. It turned out to be defective, and I lost my money.

After fighting to get this to work with my new nVidia rtx 5080 card, i found it wasnt giving me steady power to memory or cpu, even with my old 3070 card. Unfortunately i also find that im outside of Best Buys ridiculous 14 day return window. Last thing i buy from Best Buy. Industry standard is st least 30 days.

Good quality power supply. The modular nature of it helps with keeping cabling clean, as you only have in there exactly what you need. 850W is good for most setups still as well, but make sure you don't need more.
Sorry to hear about that unfortunate issue. If you ever need help with any product of ours, don't hesitate to contact our team directly on our site for assistance.

Excellent power supply. Quiet, efficient, rock-solid stability, and clean modular cables for a premium build.

The RM850x power supply great. It was easy to install. It has great quality modular cables and is ready for the newer generation of GPUs with all required connectors. I am pairing it with an RTX 5080 and i5 13600k. If you're looking for a psu for an RTX 5090, id recommend going up to the 1000w variant. All in all, the RM850x power supply works great.

Great PSU. Works awesome with all new gen hardware. Would Highly Rec to anyone building a med/high range pc. I would absolutely trust this product.
Don't pay attention to the one star review bashing this company for "price baiting." They took a picture of a 79.99 price tag that had a thermaltake psu price tag for a corsair product. Maybe that person should have read the tag before picking something up.

The best feature of this power supply is the modular cabling. You can add the exact amount of cables you need for your build with translated to less clutter inside the box, for a more appealing aesthetic
