Motherboard confusing this card as gpu

My pc won't even boot when this is plugged into the motherboard. My mobo might be too outdated which could be the problem, as my mobo keeps detecting this pcie as a graphics card. So if you have an older mobo, beware before purchasing. I will be buying a new mobo and testing with it.
