First off, I want to list some things that I wish I could have found easier when I was shopping around:
1. The RTX 2070 in this laptop is NOT the Max-Q (Power saving version that has performance cut) but the full powered laptop version of the card.
2. There are ZERO issues with cooling this thing. The fans/vents are plenty for what's going on here.
3. The 512GB SSD that came installed on mine was an nvme M.2 SSD. There is a 2nd slot for another one of those AND a 2.5" bay.
Now onto other things:
The build: This thing is solid. It's a fingerprint magnet for sure, but the outer lid is metal and everything else is this satisfying tough plastic. There's no flex to speak of here. I think this laptop could survive its fair share of bumps without too much trouble. You can lift the lid without holding the bottom half. The camera setup here also supports 3D face unlock which I thought was gimicky at first but now it's the only way I unlock the computer.
Screen: The screen is a 1920x1080 144hz display. It's absolutely gorgeous. I actually prefer using the laptop screen for gaming and movies over my 24" main display because everything just looks so crisp.
Keyboard: It's a mechanical keyboard that is better than most laptop keyboards out there. However I do concede that typing on the higher end MSI, Dell, and Lenovo keyboards do feel a bit better and higher quality.
Performance: I bought this laptop to replace an old desktop that I built that was rocking an FX-8350 and 2x 7970 Ghz edition cards. According to the CPU-Z Benchmarking tool, I'm scoring well over double (~3500 multi-thread and ~550 single core) what my desk top scored on the exact same test. All in a package that's a hair over five pounds. I am able to run any game that I've thrown on it so far at 120FPS+ (200+ for Fortnite, League, etc) and also development software including Visual Studio 2019 and SQL Server 2017. This thing is a beast. You will NOT miss a beat here.
Software: The only pre-installed software on this machine is the utility to adjust the RGB. Normally the first thing I do when I buy a new computer is do a clean install of Windows. This is the first time in a long time that I haven't needed to do that.
Portability: It's a big laptop with an unfortunately tiny battery pack. You'll be lucky to get a bit over an hour of battery life. When the charger is not plugged in, the system will throttle itself in a futile effort to buy some minutes but it's not going to be enough. Keep your charger on you at all times. Also, the screen is 17" but I'd probably buy a carrier that can hold a 20" since the form factor is a bit beefy. I'm personally using a ROG Backpack that I got off of Amazon and it's got plenty of room for the laptop, charger, and a bunch of other stuff.
Conclusion: If you do not need a super video card, do not buy a gaming laptop. Get something like a Lenovo X1 Carbon or something like that. For all other, get this machine. It has power, it has quality, and I don't feel embarrassed to use it in front of clients since it doesn't look very "Gamer".
9.5/10 all day long.

Has the same components that are on laptops a thousand dollars more. It has a full laptop rtx 2070, not maxq. Try to find that under $2k. It's only negative, is its basic looking. Keyboard is great. Not sure why anyone would spend more.

Man this thing is awesome. Super fast, hardly any bloat and much lighter than you would think for having this much power. Would recommend many times over.
