Not as good of a value as it may seem

On paper, this PC looks like a good value. In reality, you're paying for sub-standard components. The motherboard is a joke, still sticking with an ancient BIOS implementation that incorporates a minimal EFI emulation layer. The case is one of the worse I've seen. Installing a drive requires removing both panels, both secured by two standard screws each. The internal disk mounting system is the worst (least convenient) I've seen of any PC case. Good luck if you need access to a molex connector, as the PSU wiring is an abysmal mess; besides the wiring being tied down to the case with probably nearly a dozen ties, the wiring is all intertwined and wrapped up behind the motherboard mounting plate, with several case fans feeding into molex connectors further complicating things. Speaking of the PSU, for one of the most (if not the most) failure-prone components in a desktop computer, this is one component that certainly should not be skimped on, yet of course Cybertron decided to go with a no-name brand PSU that will probably blow eventually, taking other components with it (if not replaced beforehand). To top it off, since day one, I've had a persistent and aggravating issues with hard disk access (the one that came pre-installed). I don't know if it's the drive itself, the SATA cable, the controller/chipset, or what causing the issue. It has resulted in instability/crashing, as well as system freeze-ups. Without this problem, I might have been generous enough to give another star in my rating.

    • Brand response from CybertronPC Customer SVC
      Posted .

      RabbitEars,

First, please let us thank you for choosing a CybertronPC Hellfire-X and for taking the time to provide an in-depth account of your experience. We regret that it has thus far been less than satisfactory.

Second, with regards to the issues you have encountered with instability and crashing, we stand behind the systems we build and will gladly assist you and get your Hellfire-X running as it should.

If you would like our assistance, you may reach our friendly and knowledgeable Customer Service Team through our toll-free number: 855-490-2569. Or, if you prefer email, at: [email protected]. Whether you call or email, please reference case 'C-17168-48B8'.

Third, we appreciate and respect your opinions, and want to address some of the comments in your feedback, hopefully to your satisfaction.

We are a very customer-focused company, and while we never enjoy hearing negative things about our products, we do want to know when a customer doesn’t feel that they have had the high-level experience we strive to provide. This helps us to both assist that particular customer and to learn where we can improve for others.

As to the components being sub-standard, we do not believe in providing low-quality parts, as doing so benefits no one. All it can result in is unhappy customers and a bad reputation.

We have been in business since 1997 and use the vast experience we have gained to take great care in the selection of the components we use in the systems we build. We base our choices on the track record of the brand and the particular item itself. However, no matter how reliable the brand or the particular component, everything has a failure rate, no matter how small.

Because of this, we do all we can with any component we carry; use the ones that have the best overall track record, drop those that have unacceptable failure rates and assist our customers with any issues to the best of our ability.

To address some of your specific concerns:
The motherboard you mention is a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3. Gigabyte is considered one of the leading names in the computing industry for well-performing and reliable components, and has been for many years.

Based on the comment about the BIOS and “…a minimal EFI emulation layer”, as the board supports EFI functionality, such as support for drives larger than 2.2TB in size, we gather that what is being referred to is the more graphical, ‘point-and-click’ style of user interface that some BIOS’ provide.

While many people prefer the non-GUI interface, as it allows them to very rapidly and easily navigate the BIOS menus using nothing but the keyboard, others do find the GUI style more to their liking. This is a matter of personal preference, and we certainly respect yours.

You absolutely correct when you state that the power supply should not be skimped on. That is why, as with all of our components, our choice in power supply is driven by track record of the brand and the item itself. And while no one can be expected to be familiar with every brand of supply (or any component), this certainly does not make them “no-name” brands. The brand for the power supply in the Hellfire-X is Ultra, which has been around for 24 years, and is still providing quality products to this day.

As to the case requiring both panels to be removed to install a drive, this is true of many chassis. We sincerely apologize if you found this to be an inconvenience. Apart from this, the chassis has features sought by many, being sturdy, of high and durable quality, providing a great deal of expandability and having an eye-catching design.

With regards to the wiring, we create a clean build with the wiring properly routed and tied to maximize airflow.

Not only is this more appealing to the eye, but the wires don’t form a dust trap or block significant airflow themselves. This allows air to move freely through the system, taking heat with it, which helps to extend the lifespan of the system and its components.

This is why modern chassis are being built to allow routing of the wiring behind the motherboard plate, as opposed to older cases that did not provide for proper cable routing and airflow by forcing all of the wiring to be in the main section of the chassis.

We hope the above has been informative, and that you will contact us soon so that we can assist you. Thank you again for your choice of a Hellfire-X and your feedback!

    Amazing Company, Excellent PC

The first one I got had some issues, and ordinarily I would not rate any product 5 stars that I had to return for any reason. However, I believe based on the way the replacement was handled that I probably just got a lemon (Which happens to every company from time to time, and I understand that). The company (CybertronPC) was absolutely amazing in the way they handled this situation. They truly seem to care about the quality of the product that they are making. I called them and referenced the number they supplied in their comment on my original review (which I posted on the wrong model), and not only did they want to make it right, but they actually wanted to listen to my detailed feedback. They replaced my pc (paid for return shipping & sent the new one with 2 day shipping) and even used different fan connectors on the new build ( I had informed them on the phone that even though the fan controller was the issue, their fan power connectors were flimsy). The new one arrived today, and was an amazing improvement on the original. I can't say enough about the customer service and tec support CybertronPC provided me. AMAZING! Also, not once did they ask me to post a new review, change my old review, or comment on it. They just wanted to give me a quality product. Rare to find a company like that these days. The PC itself is great. I'm running 3 lcd monitors on the graphics card and using it to run MySQL workbench, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator.... (not all at once, but several at a time). Only been on the new one for a few hours now, but seems to be handling things with ease. Also, the monitoring capabilities for the cpu, hard drive, graphics card, and fans are great. Lets me get a better view of how it's handling things. So far, I love it.

I was not familiar with CybertronPC but I was looking for a desktop computer that I can use for both work and gaming. It did not come with any bloatware at all and the company does provide you with media to reinstall Windows as well use the user manuals for the components in the system. It runs very fast and it is a very nice system for under $1000. I am very happy with it.
