Hard drive crashed after 2 months

Trackpad is frustrating, there is no separation between the left and right click buttons which is not super productive even once used to it. Things worked fine enough until suddenly the hard drive started clicking and upon restart, no bootable device could be detected. This was a brand new computer with new parts, and after two months of normal use, the hard drive now needs replacing. Dell is sending me a new HD to install myself. Lost 2 month's worth of files however.
Seems to have faulty wireless settings that I can't work around, always disconnects when idle. I would definitely not have purchased this model if I knew it would be like this.

got it the day windows 10 came out and the salesmen kept trying to steer me away from it. It's a great size as I'm only 4'11 but still looks naturally in a normal size person. Feels big for the size. I like the island keys so stuff doesn't get stuck in keyboard mouse pad can be tough so buy a usb mouse. The screen is beautiful high definition however default settings will make windows look blurred. It took some playing with settings to not make things look like pop ups from windows 98. The computer isn't built to worth with cortina however it works just fine for me. Webcam looks great tablet mode is nice for browsing however the computer gets hot after just a while. Overall definitely recommend, I'm happy with my purchase

HUGE Memory - Fabulous 2-in-1

My laptop previous to this purchase was a 2010 Inspiron so having used Dell in the past I was more prone to get another laptop from them. Starting a new work at home job I really needed something more functional, with faster download speeds and better memory. I lucked out with this purchase!
This Dell 2-in-1 is AMAZING! I am SO happy with how fast it downloads and uploads. I wanted something with the newest technology so naturally getting a laptop with Intel Core i7 was at the top of my list. I am very happy with the 1TB hard drive and 8GB of memory. I have had this for a little over a month now and have nothing bad to say about it.
One of my favorite things is that the keyboard lights up. I always told my husband that I wished my old one did that and now I have one that does! Much easier on the eyes, and using my computer multiple hours a day, this really is a necessity.
With Windows 10 it is extremely easy to customize the start screen and I am impressed with the different pictures daily that come up on my password screen. Cortana is also a great plus for better productivity.
Overall, this has been one of the best purchases I have made. I couldn't be happier with the performance I get out of this 2-in-1.

Great Performance out of a stylish PC

I am using this laptop for college and it has worked out great for me. I enjoy this laptop for four main reasons. It is well crafted, performs, well, and looks sleek and modern, and it is versatile. The down side to this laptop is that it is not only most reliable, which may not be the computers fault.
The take this computer everywhere with me from class, to the library, and my dorm room. The durability of this device is outstanding. It has a solid metal design and feels great in your hands. You don't worry about breaking it when your carrying it around and maneuvering it from tablet and computer. A well crafted device worth the expenses in that aspect.
The downside to this PC is its reliability. I have encountered some minor issues at start up and shut down as well as running apps. Sometimes apps won't open and when you remove an app from the start menu it will not disappear until the next time you turn the computer on. Also from time to time the computer will not shut itself down. I select shut down from the start menu and the computer acts like it is shutting down, the screen goes black, however the computer remains on for an indefinite amount of time. I know this to be true because sound continues to be omitted from the computer and the backlit keyboard remains lit. Mainly shutting it down by holding down the power button temporarily resolves the issue. So this might seem like this computer is a bad buy since it decides when it wants to shut down, however I do not believe the inspiron 7000 should be blamed as much as the operating system installed.
Windows 10 definatly has some bugs being resolved and I trace the majority of the computers technical difficulties back to windows 10. I stand by this conclusion because every time an update to windows 10 occurs or new drivers are installed the pc works perfect. Don't blame the insprion just be patient with the new windows.
Another great thing about this laptop is performance. When I use this thing I feel like I am using an ultra book. It is fast and efficient. It is also great at multitasking. I have run dozens of apps all at once with no problem. It also does well with gaming. I play Flight Simulator X on here with full graphics with crystal clear qualtity. The best performing laptop I've ever owned.
This laptop caught my eye at BestBuy because it looks to beautiful. I hate Mac's but love their sleek modern look and I think the Dell insprion 7000 beats any Mac Book on the beauty scale. I am proud to own it.
Lastly, this laptop has great versatility which is a must have. You can turn into a tablet whenever you want or need. It comes in very handy when sharing information with others, watching Netflix. playing touchscreen games, or reading on the couch. It will open your eyes to the potential of what a laptop could be.
If your willing to shell out the dough, this is a fantastic laptop to invest it in. I plan to have this laptop for years to come and love it. I have had problems with Dell in the past but the product and service has been great. One of the best laptop buys on the market.

I am very satisfied with the purchase. The speed, storage, resolution, device weight and the overall usability met my needs. The only concern is that the laptop seems to get rather warm on the bottom if used for extended periods of time.

Good: It's a nice feeling box overall, great screen resolution, nice bright touch screen, back lit keyboard is a bonus, huge hard drive, 3 USB ports of various flavors, keyboard and touchpad seem fine to an inexperienced user (I was a mouse user on my previous netbook), OS is similar to Win7 in many ways (it might have some Win8.1 similarities too, but I wouldn't know), battery life seems adequate so far, internal parts are supposed to be largely user accessible and replaceable, Dell's on board firmware and system analysis software is a nice troubleshooting tool, came preloaded with Windows 10 (which also puts it into the "Bad:" category, IMO).
Bad: A little heavy for a tablet, the power cord connection on the side feels flimsy (be careful), the option to create your own USB system image recovery drive fails probably due to corrupt system files, SFC /scannow scan finds corrupt Cortana system files in the WinSxS folder right out of the box, Dell do it yourself hardware/system scans reported problems with the memory twice before finally running clean, Windows (10?) lacks any really useful apps in their App Store, it might be only slightly faster than a 5 year old HP Pavillion with a much older I5 CPU, Cortana isn't much use unless you want to let Microsoft know everything about you and everything you do while online, OS resists and/or restricts the user from easily accessing and modifying system files and programs unlike past operating systems, OS seems buggy at times and reacts negatively to some fairly common mainstream after market free programs and software that runs fine on Win7 or WinXP, came preloaded with Windows 10 (see "Good:" comment).
Overall I'd recommend this machine to anyone looking for a 2 in 1 that's more of a laptop than a tablet, and came preloaded with Win10, which is what I wanted. Just be prepared to deal with waiting for enough people to install Windows 10, to create a sufficiently large user community so that we can get Microsoft (and/or Dell?) to do something about the deficiencies that came with Windows 10. I've searched online to try to find DIY solutions to some of the problems I've encountered so far. I found some similar or exact match problems from other new Win10 users out there, but very few, if any, fixes. Most people seem to be having trouble getting support for the Windows 10 operating system. My main concern is having to contact Dell to get a viable system image recovery drive on USB, because their do it yourself option doesn't work on my box. Everything else I can live with until Microsoft (and Dell?) get going with fixes and patches to address the various problems as they occur.
I am jumping from WinXP to Windows 10, with a smattering of Win7 knowledge acquired in between. I have some largely anecdotal technical experience/expertise acquired from a career in I/T, but was not specifically a Windows/Microsoft/desktop/server support person. I've been a personal computer user since the late '70s, early '80s mostly on the job.

I actually spent several weeks looking for the right laptop. I wasn't in a hurry and was looking for a great laptop at a good price. I wanted a 13 or 14", touch screen, back lit keyboard and i7 processor. I probably would have been fine going with the less expensive i7, but I like fast. It has good battery life as well, about 4 hours under normal use.
This laptop works exactly as it should. The touch screen works flawlessly. It's fairly light. It feels sturdy. Has good wireless signal. The only thing I'm looking to change is I'll be adding a 240gb SSD for faster boot/restart times. Although, it's pretty fast as-is.
I wish it had a DVD drive, but you can't have everything. I knew what I was buying. I don't understand when people dock points or complain about their laptop not having certain options, didn't you read the description?
My only gripe is that I couldn't figure out how to make the screen flip in tablet mode. The instruction sheet is very small and doesn't give much info. I had to google it and found that other people had the same issue, but it was an easy fix.
I was able to find this computer (actually a slightly newer model with built-in stylus and 500GB HHD) for $100 less at the Microsoft store via ebay. I paid $799 for mine, plus I had a 10% off coupon. I also used my BB points and took advantage of BB's 18 month no-interest financing, so for me, this was a better deal.

I love this laptop. It's small, fast, light, and has a good battery life. I don't use the touchscreen feature, but every so often I do and it works nicely. I got a floor model and they matched the Amazon price, so I'm pleased with it. Would recommend.

Seems like a great light computer for a high school student. We were looking for something the was a 2 in 1 and that would make it through the next 4 years. The price was great for everything we received.....had to speak with Dell Customer Service because the Wi-Fi would not connect. The "fix" was not in a spot that we would have figured out....and the customer service department had no real knowledge of Windows 10....which created some confusion. If they ask you to run a diagnostic on the computer after fixing it, be prepared to wait 45 minutes or more : (

Replaced an old Dell with a new Dell. We actually bought 2. Love the speed to boot up. Light weight and trim. I am still getting used to Windows 10. I keep forgetting it's a touch screen. It's very nice. My husband loves his too. Uses it constantly.

This is a very versatile "laplet." Given the increased presence of wireless hot spots I suppose it makes sense that the unit would not have an Ethernet port. For where my home office is located however my wireless signal is not strong enough to do anything with heavy data transfer requirements. I almost returned it to get something else with Ethernet, but instead I purchased the J5create JUH470 USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet & 3-Port HUB device. Together it makes for a very fast and functional setup. I like the feel of the keyboard and it's backlighting, the responsiveness of the touch screen, the quietness and coolness, not to mention the sleek look. I wanted an affordable system with decent ram, an i7 processor, and large drive. Didn't seek out the two-way option of laptop/tablet, but that was a nice perk. I say go for it!

Great little laptop for such a price. It is well built with descent material not flimsy and overall quality construction. I like 13.3 inch size with very light weight body makes it very convenient for transporting. Pluses are high speed processor with latest I7 5th Gen from intel, 8 GB RAM and 1 TB hard drive. Keyboard is really good with well Backlit. TouchPad could be little more responsive. Tablet mode is good but the screen does not fully fold back but it is kind of lossely hanging there with keyboard. Try yourself at bestbuy store to see for yourself. I would have preferred a SSD over conventional hard drive. Although the screen is full hd, the screen Backlit isn't enough, it is kind of dull and akward for a latest generation of laptop. Overall I am happy that I just paid 800 dollars for a good quality machine with big brand name behind it that is well known for their best customer service. I would definitely recommend it

I would recommend this laptop. I've owned MacBooks and have been disappointed in the performance of the 2014 MacBook, which was more expensive with less performance than the Dell. I'm not sure I'll ever buy another MacBook.

We purchased the 13" Dell computer to replace a work computer, it was an excellent purchase as it is lightweight, had Windows 10 installed on it already and just the perfect size to travel or work with at home. Haven't been sorry about this purchase for one minute.

Concerns with my Noisy Dell

I have only had the computer about a month so I'm still getting familiar with all it's features. I have been impressed by it's processing speed, the 2 in 1 capability and the display. What concerns me is I may have either a defective computer or one with a design problem. The fan is the loudest laptop fan I have ever heard. For some reason as the battery is running down the fan seems to become even noisier with grinding and periodic rattling. Also, the battery lasts about two hours with fairly light computing and then it needs to be recharged which is much less than advertised. I brought it into Best Buy to have it checked and the person helping me ran a diagnostic test and listened to the fan. She said it appeared to be running normally. I can live with the short battery life but the noisy fan still concerns me. I'll be contacting Dell soon to get their opinion. IF the fan issue is resolved to my satisfaction my overall rating would improve to excellent and my recommendation to a friend would change to a yes.

Windows 10 is great, no issues so far. Runs really fast but I don't have it loaded up with programs or pictures. Light weight but sturdy, including the hinges to fold back the screen. Love the backlight on the keys. Only issue was when trying to install Web Root security, it wasn't compatible with Windows 10 so went back to McAfee
