Good laptop for the price

Bootup in 10 seconds as opposed to 30+, much better processing power, and red is even my favorite color.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear your laptop is overheating and not working properly. We understand that can be frustrating. Below I have provided steps and a link that should resolve these issues.
Overheating troubleshoot:
1. Update your computer BIOS to the latest version available
• Browse to the Dell Drivers & Downloads page:
• Ensure you have selected the correct Operating System
• Under Category, choose BIOS
• Locate the latest System BIOS
• Click Download and save the file to your PC
• Open File Explorer and browse to the location where you saved the downloaded file
• Double-click the BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process
2. Open Alienware Command Center
3. Click Thermal at the Active Default Theme and set it to Performance
4. Restart the computer
5. Once the computer boots into Windows open SupportAssist
6. Go to the Troubleshooting tab and click on I want to check a specific piece of hardware
7. Click CPU under CPU Devices
8. Select CPU Stress Test and click Run Test
9. Open the Alienware Command Center and go to the Fusion tab
• The CPU peak temperature should be less than or equal to (≤) 100 ℃
• When under high stress, the computer's average temperature can be expected to be less than (≤) 100 ℃.

If i pushed the screen back past a certain point when opening it the screen would black out and make it unusable. This was just a defect and maybe can't speak to the whole of the laptop, but when I took it back I just went ahead and spent the extra $100 to go to the next better version of this laptop brand. I've had it for well over a month and its been great.

Thank you for your review and input. We apologize for the issues you have come across when trying to turn on your laptop and have provided steps below that may help with fixing your black screen. If needed in the future, the details include how to perform a hard reset along with expelling and lingering power.
1. Disconnect all external devices or peripherals (such as a printer, Bluetooth, or USB devices).
2. Power off your laptop by pressing the Power button for about 10 to 20 seconds.
3. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery intact.
4. Drain the remaining battery by holding onto the power button for approximately 60 seconds.
5. Place the battery back in and plug in the charger.
6. Press the Power button to turn on your laptop.
