I am very pleased with this laptop. This is a huge upgrade from my previous, and first laptop, Also my first Dell. It is very fast and I can multitask. I love the lighted keyboard. It is very light and love the fact that it is a touch screen.

I only buy Dell computers and this one doesn't disappoint. So far it has done exactly what I expected. It loads fast, excellent response time. I even like Windows 10 that came preinstalled on the laptop. I've been an Office 365 user for a couple of years now and it came preloaded on this laptop so there was no delay being up and operating. I bought a large Samsung 32 inch monitor to plug into the laptop so I would have the convenience of the desktop without the big box and all the cables, plus I can disconnect the USB and the laptop is ready to go. Very happy.

Nice powerhouse type laptop, few misses

This machine is built for people who need more than 8GB of RAM, fast performance, and a beautiful screen without paying two grand to get it. I find it a joy to use with an exceptional screen. The touch screen is very responsive but will show tons of fingerprints when screen is off (a little while on and in direct sunlight). I think this largest miss is not having an SSD. I corrected this in the first week and couldn't be happier that I did. I think Dell should have either included the max of 16GB of RAM or an SSD of at least 128 GB. Things to keep in mind: With a 4K display some older programs won't scale well causing them to have tiny text on Windows. This also happens when you drag programs to external monitors with smaller resolution. If you need want a 10 digit key pad on your built in keyboard this is not the machine for you.

Everything works well with a great price point. With the advertised 4 Gig dedicated memory, would expect better capability. Nice display. Touch screen was not a mandatory feature and I found that I never use it on the laptop, but the "touch screen" generations will likely feel different. Did not realize this version of Core i7 was not quad core. This would have definitely persuaded me not to purchase. Not due to being incapable, just preference. 12 Gig of RAM is sufficient, but 16 would be much better. Nice Laptop, but I would have figured BEST BUY would have a larger selection of higher end laptops with more capability.

I am quite pleased with this computer. It has great performance with Windows 10. The screen resolution is outstanding and works well for me because I multitask a lot and the desktop real estate is very helpful. The backlit keys are easy to read in low light though I would have liked slightly larger keys. I replaced the internal drive with a SSD for speed and better protection from disk crashes and the computer is now a real screamer. It only takes a few seconds to boot and the battery lifetime is great considering the I7 processor. Overall, I am very happy with this computer and would buy it again.

    Dell's Back In The Game

We purchased this laptop for my wife's use; she had an earlier Dell business laptop going through school, but it's finally old enough where it would not support anything beyond Windows XP. I serviced Dell laptops at my business place, and they were built well and we had good luck with their product. This laptop has all the features she could want in an attractive package. It runs Windows 10, already installed, has a really nice screen, and the touchscreen functionality works very well; she's been very pleased, as have I. It's quick and will run any software she'll need for some time. The price point was also nice, compared to a number of competitors, so we've been really pleased so far.

This lap top is great...for how much it costs when compared to other laptops I guess it should be! I bought it for doing traditional type office work including skyping and web-ex and it is more than capable with both camera picture and sound being really good. Hard drive size and included RAM are more than adequate as is the processor speed. I don't use it for graphics applications so I can't comment as to its utility there but watching videos - the picture is smooth and clear. It is lightweight thus making it easier to carry around through the workday. I thought windows 10, being new, might cause some glitches, but it works seamlessly with the computer. It's a Dell and I've always had good luck with them on previous laptop and desktop purchases.

    A Very Good True Laptop

I never thought finding a laptop would prove to be so trying, but I was proven wrong when looking to upgrade recently. I needed a traditional laptop with power and flexibility, but I wasn't looking for a 2 in 1 or a tablet. I had a Sony VAIO and have always loved them, but they discontinued that line in favor of tablets. I work in an industry that doesn't adapt to the latest technology quickly so a tablet wasn't going to work for me. A 2 in 1 would work, but I found they were either under powered or over priced. But then I ran across this Dell laptop and I found my saving grace. The laptop has a dedicated video card (important for our applications), 12GB of RAM but expandable beyond that. 12 is a good starting point when you need to run virtual machines as I do. Being able to upgrade is even more important. The screen is larger and beautiful at its native 4K resolution. The external option is pretty standard with HDMI out (though I discovered that's not truly standard anymore). 2 weaknesses that made me hesitate on initial purchase. There is no built-in wired networking, it's all wireless. Again, my industry doesn't allow wireless for security purposes so this was a concern. The other weakness was having Windows 10 preloaded. The built-in networking was solved with a standard USB to RJ45 converter and other than carrying a separate piece of hardware it is fine. The Windows 10 actually turned out to be much less of an issue than I thought. I use Microsoft products in it and use my other programs in virtual machines running older Windows versions. That keeps the boot up time short, keeps the main operating system pretty clean, and allows easier backup and restore of those virtuals. The battery life is also pretty good. It doesn't hit the 8 hours or whatever they claim, but that's because I have a lot of stuff running, but it still gets me 5+ hours running on battery alone. Much better than a standard laptop. So, other than those two concerns this laptop has actually worked out very well for me and I'm happy to have found it. I'm not a solid Dell guy, but this laptop has made me a little less apprehensive to purchase them in the future.

    Good computer

First attempt at this computer was a failure - dead on arrival. Best Buy exchanged it the very next day: no hassle. Have had the second one 4 weeks, using it everyday without a single problem. It's fast and reliable. Boots up in <60 seconds. It doesn't always turn off properly - sometimes I must hold the power button for 5 seconds to get it to turn off completely - this seems to be a Win10 glitch and will likely be corrected with a software update. The 802.11 ac network card is excellent. Here are some observations that may help: the 4K resolution is terrific for a photo slide show and optimized for the web, but with apps like Word and Photoshop, the menus are microscopic. No problem, a right click on the desktop and you can change the res to 1920x1080 (hi def), takes only a moment, and looks terrific. It's easy to go back and forth. Some legacy programs don't run well with Win10 but no problem: a right click on their icon (not the shortcut) brings up a compatibility menu that allows you to run in in Win 8.1, Win 7, Win Vista or Win XP mode - works well! The Dell website has an excellent PDF with detailed instructions to open the computer, add RAM (I upped mine to 16 GB) and replace the hard drive (I switched to an SSD). Be sure to buy Dell RAM - the Best Buy (PNY) RAM doesn't work. Even without the upgrades, the the gen i7 proc runs fast and the computer runs on battery >4 hours (confirmed). The computer is virtually noiseless and cool. It's thin but not as light as some ultrabooks. It, surprisingly for a 15.6" size, doesn't have separate numeric pad - not that that's really necessary unless you're a big number cruncher. I don't play games, but Photoshop video rendering run well - especially in 1080 mode (instead of the 4K). It's nice to have the option.

4k screen is great, the only issue is that it seems that white colors of pixels are not so white. 4k problem is that some programs (autocad, office) are not prepared for it and letters and icons are impossible to see. I think it is just a configuration problem. It should come with Numeric Keypad. Hinge look strong, I had hinge problem w other laptops. Is really quiet and have no heat issues. Windows 10 is a plus,. Anyway works really well, and is a very good computer for the price.

Three years ago, we bought our daughter a MacBook when she began college. Recently, it began to "bug-out" just when she needed it most. We purchased her this Dell-Inspiron in September, and she has not had a day of trouble. This laptop serves as her computer, television, and game source. She is happy with the graphics, touch screen, ease of use, and accessibility. Her MacBook has been shelved for good. This Dell is everything she needs to be successful.

The 4k screen is a great feature. Windows 10 seems to upgrade all other Windows versions. The unit is thinner and slightly wider than my previous Dell laptop. The Microsoft sign in screen integrates well with other features such as Google.

I purchased this laptop from Waterfront (Pittsburgh). This is a very good laptop and the touch screen is excellent. The 4K screen is mind blowing. The only problem is not all applications are compatible with the 4K resolution (as of 2015). So you might want to run those at 1920*1080 resolution. But even that is not the problem of the laptop, it's the applications.
