Had to get a new computer because I was still using a system that was running windows 7. After months of research narrowed my choice to this Dell. It is very nice. It is a 2 in one and the tablet mode is also great, it is fast and quiet.

I started on a work from home assignment. I had a laptop with 4gigs of RAM. What I thought was a capable laptop turned into a hinderance - too slow and froze. I saw that this computer just went on sale so I snapped it up and it has made my assignment a breeze to process each day.

I bought the first one on June 19th and it lasted 10 days. The second one is still going, But I had to pay to have all my data moved from one to the other. Did not like that.

Turns on as soon as you open the monitor. Drains battery so much. Feels burning when on for more than 1 hour...even though i have a laptop protectiin for my knees when in the couch it feels burning on the bottom of the laptop. The worst is that about 10 keys are not working now. Some times it even types 3 or 4 times with one stroke on a key. Dont recommend it.

Good quality solid laptop from Dell. The only thing is if you want to upgrade your version of Windows to pro it is difficult other than that it's a good solid laptop.

What i like about this device is that the noise of the fan is barely heard compare to HP that i have to return. This laptop is serving it's purpose. i use it for school work only. It is a great product and i am recommending it for buyers.

I wish I trusted the bad reviews when looking at which laptop to purchase. From the start I had issues charging the laptop. The cord had to be in the exact right spot for the charging light to turn on, and if it were moved it would disconnect the charge even though it appeared to be plugged in. I contacted support through my warranty and Dell support is useless. Finally after “troubleshooting” and doing all kinds of tests I had no idea how to do I told them to just forget it. They then said there was a problem and asked me to mail the laptop in to be looked at. I work from home that was t an option to be without the laptop for weeks. I bought the laptop 3/28/20 and the warranty expired 4/1/21. On 4/3/21 “ironically” the laptop now won’t hold a charge at all. It has to stay plugged in at all times. A huge waste of a lot of money. You don’t always get what you pay for apparently. My other complaints are the keyboard itself is hard to see the letters, the mousepad is horrible, you right click but it’s actually the center ...I wish I didn’t purchase silver since sunlight reflects off it and blinds me. The screen randomly turns sideways and the only way to fix it is to restart. There’s a new update everyday that requires long restarts.

    Piece of Crap

We bought this three days ago. Three days. Already, the screen is freezing constantly, the fan is running on high and it keeps overheating even with only one program open and keeping it lifted off surfaces (it's a word processor that's open, not even video or music or something that runs hot), and it keeps telling my husband to update the drivers and then saying the drivers are failing to update. For $1,099 one would expect a product that works. My hubs is so disappointed and he urgently needed this for work and now we have a stay-at-home order in our state and Best Buy says that we have to pay to ship for a refund. Absolutely ridiculous that we now have to pay to return a defective product and have to wait before we can get my husband a new laptop that he needs for work ASAP. I don't know if I'm more angry at Dell or Best Buy.

      Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear that your computer has been freezing. We'd recommend the following steps to help diagnose this issue:

      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
      a) Start the computer.
      b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
      c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
      d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
      e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
      3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.

If your computer continues to overheat, here are some tips:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2uJ8AdG.

Lastly, if you'd like to try to reduce that fan noise on your computer we'd recommend updating the computer's BIOS:

An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.
