Perfect system for everyday use, even as a graduate student if your courseload doesn’t require you to deal with a lot of data.

Online price was less than store displayed price but BB matched online. Was originally looking at Surface but decided on Dell for ability to upgrade memory or replace HD if needed. Battery life is good and touch screen is decent size and works well. Only 1 USB legacy port but 2 USB C ports (1 used for power). Ethernet would have been nice for internet security but use a USB C adapter. Comes with Win11 Home and decided to upgrade to pro for remote VPN. Good size, wgt, features for normal business/school use.

The Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 14” laptop is a real game-changer! I got serious value for my money, and it's been a lifesaver for my grad school workload. The 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processor makes it lightning fast, handling all my tasks with ease. It's super portable and light, making it perfect for my on-the-go lifestyle. I recommended it to a classmate, and he loves it too! If you're looking for a reliable, fast, and portable laptop, I highly recommend the Dell Inspiron 14”.

Great laptop hindered by bad software

This laptop is amazing for school and for travel. It's fast, light and the battery lasts pretty long without getting unreasonably hot. However, the Windows audio driver just randomly breaks without warning. I had it for only a few weeks and the speakers randomly stopped working with Firefox although the Windows audio test still played when I triggered it in settings. I reinstalled the audio driver at least 3 times (twice via Windows Update and once directly from Dell) and it works for a bit before breaking again. Somehow, ALSA (Linux audio) worked perfectly while the stock Windows driver from Dell didn't. Somebody at Dell, Realtek, or Microsoft needs to take notes and fix this!

Great laptop, 12th Gen Intel helps it boot up in seconds. Clean design, not heavy, very responsive. Battery life is decent with the right settings. Easy to tweak color settings with built in software. If your speakers/sound doesn’t work make sure to update the driver.

Great laptop horrible mouse pad

The mouse pad fuctionality is horrible. Trying to navigate web pages with out causing un wanted gesture navigations is impossible and when the gesture functions are turn off it intermittently fails to function at all. I resorted to a wireless mouse to alleviate the fustration. That has been the only drawback of this laptop though. Very fast, responsive, great battery life, and connectivity. Though getting wireless display functionality has been a headache.

With its affordable price point, decent performance, and robust build, the Acer Aspire 3 is a good budget option for most people. It might not be the most aesthetic laptop, but the build is surprisingly rugged. It has a solid, durable feel reminiscent of laptops with much higher price points. The full-size keyboard is nice, too. It has a spacious layout, which is perfect for longer typing sessions.

First Dell in several years disappointed, still OK

Really wanted to love this lil 2-in1 but honestly, after this, I will return to Asus, which before this unit, accounted for my last 4 laptops.
I bought this one, btw, because of its physical build. Aluminum case, nice heavy hinges, mid-sized solid state. It was actually very similar to my favorite Asus from a few years ago. So I though, OK. How different could it be
Turns out to just not be as stable, though.
For example, in my first week of ownership, I expected to spend a lot of time just downloading and installing updates. OK. But what I didn't expect was to struggle with an attempted BIOS firmware update that always error'ed out to blue screen every time I tried it. I'm mean, like 8 times. Finally, what I had to do was move the entire OS back to an earlier restore point, before several security patches, then force the BIOS update. THEN do all those long patches all over again. Why, Dell? Why doesn't this just work?
Also, a few issues with the keyboard. I'm a rather hard-strike typist, and along the bottom row of this keyboard, if I strie C-V-B-N-M too hard, then it's guaranteed that I'll get a character on the left or right of the one I intended to strike. I've literally had to retrain myself to greatly restrain my typing, and not just on the bottom row, because I don't have that kind of selective discipline. Instead, I've had to train myself to just be very dainty about my typing. Trouble is, that means on my other keyboards, I frequently no longer strike with enough force to register a strike. So either I've been doing this wrong for 30 years or this Dell keyboard has a problem.
OK, all that said, the display is crisp; the touchscreen is responsive and easy to use. Overall, the machine is very fast. Minus the quality shortfalls I've mentioned, I'd say this was a very solid, versatile option, especially for the price.
But like I said, I don't think I'd get another one,

I think that for the price it is great quality! Sometimes it heats up and has to kick on the fan, but I haven't found that to be problematic at all. I love the touch screen especially but overall, it is a great computer for college and just to have around. I have had any issues!
