One of the Best Laptops I've Had

Processing Speed: When comparing the processing speed of the computer to another Mac with an M2 processor in store, I found a noticeable difference in speed with the Dell surpassing the Macbook Air by five to six seconds while being able to open and start programs with an even greater speed. In addition, videos are able to be streamed almost immediately with no pauses in between. Exterior: The overall material of the Inspiron is very noteworthy in my opinion because the metal chassis has a very durable feel to it in comparison to a cheap plastic material. Battery Life: I can't say much about the battery life simply because I haven't had the need to leave it uncharged until it died but I can say it has more than enough power to get me through 3 hours of classes no problem. Resolution: The resolution is absolutely amazing and loads images with powerful clarity. Storage Space: With 256 GB of solid state storage I was initially wary about buying the computer but after downloading all my important files from my old computer as well as a few software programs and games I still have 175 GB of 226 GB of space. My only complaint would be how large the laptop is. Sometimes I find that when I am in the middle of typing, part of my hand accidentally types the touchpad causing me to start typing in a completely different area of the screen. Other than that this laptop is a very solid choice that I would recommend.

I found this computer very fast and useful with only 8gb of ram and 250 Solid state drive. The backlit keyboard and touchscreen are a real plus for this system. Overall very satisfied with performance , speed and ease of use.

After my HP laptop crashed, was in the market for a new one. Did much research to pick a laptop that would best fit my needs. This laptop fills the bill. This is my first touchscreen laptop as well as first 2-in-1 laptop. Has great processing speed, amazing picture quality, ease of use either using touch pad or touchscreen. Battery life is good and recharges quickly. It's lightweight and sleek looking. Am really glad I went the SSD (solid state drive) this time. Coincidentally my adult son has this same laptop and highly recommended it to me.

It is fairly thin and light, it has a aluminum frame/body which makes it feel really high quality. The screen is bright, sharp, and looks good. The 8gb of ram and 256 ssd are quick to boot up and offer good performance. The i5 is plenty for me, I do some occasional CAD (Solidworks 14 and 16). It opens and runs Solidworks as fast other computers with an i7, but gets bogged down once you start working with large assemblies. I really like the USB c, bought a hmdi/vga/Ethernet/usb3.0 dongle for it and that works awesome. You can run 3 monitors at once (2 external and the laptop screen). The keyboard types nice just wish it had a number pad on the side. The track pad is excellent and works very well. The speakers on the laptop are ok, they are kinda tinny and get distorted at high volume levels. Never really use the touch screen so can say much about that. Very happy with this laptop, would definitely buy again. Have had no problems after 1 month of use almost everyday.

This has been the best lap top I've ever owned. It is super fast with with many bells and whistles. I particularly enjoy the lighted keyboard. Another great asset with this Dell laptop is the ability use the touch screen. There are many more features such as the different positions that the top moves and the ability to use without the top at all. The battery has lasts a long time unplugged and it charges quickly when plugged in again. This is a great laptop.

I spent more than I wanted but I'm glad I did. All the laptops in my price range were plastic and flimsy despite having decent specs. This laptop has an aluminum frame - very solid feeling. 2 in 1, touch screen, solid state drive. All it lacks is a CD/DVD drive, but I don't remember the last time I actually needed one. So far it has worked flawlessly.

I use this laptop for my online college courses and I absolutely love it. It is super fast to start up and it is super easy to use. It has a wonderful battery life, it is a very slim and sleek design which is nice, and it also has a great touchscreen especially when used with the bamboo ink pen.

I was in the market for a new computer, I had a Dell desktop that I used for years ,it was time for an upgrade. I hadn't shopped for a computer in years so there was a learning curve with all the new products and Technology, I finally decided that I wanted to get a laptop with tablet capabilities. I haven't had any problems with my old Dell computer so I figured I would stay with that brand and my search led me to this computer and I couldn't be happier. Solidly built, lightning fast, does everything I need for it to do, only Con is battery life, not a big deal breaker for me because I leave it plugged in most of the time. Buy with confidence you won't be sorry.

This laptop performs well for being an i5. The SSD gives it the speed you are looking for. I would say if this had 16 gigs of memory it would give this 5 stars.

I use photoshop a lot and this laptop is quick! SSD is really worth the extra money if you want something that boots up fast and doesn’t take a long time to open programs. My last laptop I bought was not SSD and i exchanges it for this one with the help of the Best Buy crew. I was so frustrated at how slow it was. This laptop is such a huge improvement and I only payed $50 more from the last one I had bought. It is sleek, thin, and the material doesn’t scratch up when you put it in your bag. Durable and dependable!

After much research before buying a laptop, I waited for this to go on sale during back to school shopping and tax free. I got an amazing deal from BB. Touch screen is perfect and works just like a tablet. Solid State Drive is smaller in size, but works and boots up dramatically faster than a regular hard drive. Saves so much time in the long run. It also runs much cooler and should last longer than with regular hard drive (no moving parts but small cooling fan). Speed of computer is quick for just about anything. Have not played games, but for videos and surfing web its quick. MS programs have fast boot time and quick response. Only drawback (if it is), is when using tablet mode the keyboard is exposed to whatever surface the laptop is sitting on. The keys do not function, but have to be careful with where you set it. When on sale, you cant beat this tech for the price.

    Excellent Laptop for my Student

This laptop is everything I was looking for and more. The processing power with the i5 is great and the SSD drive really makes a difference. I've been buying/using computers for 30+ years and I'll say that an SSD drive is the biggest difference-maker in speed - especially during boot-up. I really like the aesthetics of this laptop. Many laptops look or feel cheap or clunky. This one is relatively thin and has a nice finish. It's a little large in length and width but not any more than other 15" models. I'd like to see them trim the edges (like on me XPS13) and shrink it be about 2 inches all the way around. Over all, this was a great buy at under $600 (with student deal). If I could get another one for the same price right now I'd buy it.

We purchased this computer and it came with a broken camera. Took it back to Best Buy the next morning, and they replaced it for a new computer right away. It's been working flawlessly since! It's very responsive and easy to set up. Great machine for this price point. Can't speak for durability, it's been less than a month but so far no complaints.

    Crackling Sound and Unreliable Performance

I owned an older Dell Inspiron that I had purchased as a refurbished item for $250 last year, but I wasn't expecting anything especially great for that price. That computer crashed the opening week of my first week of college, so I needed something. I went to Best Buy and found this laptop on sale. I ordered it and spent the money for a higher end laptop so that it could last me a few years (the sales representative informed me that this laptop should last me 6-7 years of general college-type use). I was at first pleased with the speed and performance of this laptop, but everything has gone downhill since then. I have only had this computer for less than three months, yet it is already giving me issues. First, sometimes the whole computer will freeze up and the mouse will move very slowly around the screen several seconds late of what my finger dictaded. This has happened on several occasions, and the last time was for over 30 seconds. Second, it has slowed down substantially since I purchased it. I have not installed anything extremely big since that time. I only have added a couple browsers, Microsoft Office, and one other program. My old computer that I purchased for only $250 performed faster with some functions. If I use anything other than Edge (especially Firefox), the whole computer simply does not function quickly - if at all. Third and most annoying, there seems to be somthing wrong with the audio drivers. Whenever I try to watch YouTube videos, the sound crackles horribly. If the computer is trying to process anything with the internet, the sound is the first evidence of it. Even if I have ONLY the YouTube tab open, the sound will still crackle. And sometime even if I am listening to something on my computer, it crackles. I would have liked to return this item for a refund or replacement, but by the time I realized that these problems were permanent, the 15-day return window was past. I think I may have obtained a defective model as my brother purchased this exact computer and does not have these issues. Overall, I am extremely displeased with my purchase. I spent extra money to get a good computer, but I received something that performs in an unacceptable manner.

ttshanks98 - Thanks for your feedback and for your Dell laptop purchase. We're sorry to hear that it's not meeting your expectations. Here are some tips that will hopefully get your computer running the way you'd like it to.
For help with your computer freezing and the erratic movements from the touchpad, we'd recommend the following: Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
      1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
      2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
      3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
      4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
      5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
      6. Change the options as preferred.
      7. Touch or click Save.
      8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
      9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
      10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02.
Here's an article with some tips to help with the speed of your computer - http://dell.to/2tSulGV.
Many of our users have also found that removing any pre-installed software that you do not plan to use has helped speed up their computer.
Lastly, with regards to the crackling noises, you can download a new audio driver for your computer here - http://dell.to/2tq8nsZ and see if that helps the issue.
All Dell products also come with a One Year Limited Warranty if you believe that your computer has issues that you cannot resolve. Here's the site to check on our warranty policy - http://dell.to/2tNsVOs.
We hope these tips help your computer perform the way you had hoped it would. - Bryan Dell

Bought this laptop to replace an older Toshiba. I only do simple web surfing and typical word processing tasks. The touchscreen is great and works as advertised. Processor is more than enough power to do what I need. Also love the speakers on this compared to my previous computer. Overall, would buy again if it came to it.

Bought this for my son, age 12, as his first computer. He uses it for school and low level gaming and he loves it. I like the solid state drive and it appears robust to handle what a 12 yr old can dish out. Performance is solid and the screens resolution is great. I would buy again.
